Re: My EDMON family

CONTACT!! Through this board and Family Group Sheets, we are all becoming family again! Since last October, with the help of Ancestry.com and all the messages, etc. I have posted, we have located each other. AR, AZ, CA, LA, MO, TN, TX, et al. We are scattered but together.
Thank you, Ancestry.com and my BUNN-YOUNG Family of USA. I also have a tree at: www.tribalpages.com/tribes/cycrate. And all these "new" cousins have sent photos for me to post there.
Now, we would like to go back and find where we actually originated. Theories, but nothing proven. The parents of William Robert, James Richard, Gracie Lee, Ida May, John Allen Morris EDMON were John R. and Martha Allen (COFFEE) EDMON. Found the brother of John R. right where John left them, in Missouri.
George Washington and Mary Ann (Melton) EDMON had a number of children. Two of their granddaughters have found me. Then I found the family of Martha COFFEE and the great-granddaughter of one of her brothers is now on the found list.
If anyone knows descendants of any of these, email me and we can keep on.
Next, a search for the George Remer & Mary Ann (GILLY/GILLEY) YOUNG. They were from GA & went to LA in 1849.
Thank you, Ancestry.com and all your "webs". c

My EDMON family

My great-uncle was William Robert Edmon, b.9/28/1880 in Texas (probably Cass county). He was married to Vlasta Unknown. This is all I know about her, but family mentioned that name a lot when I was growing up. Vlasta H. Edmon is in the SSDI, b. 10/15/1914; d. 2/19/2002 in Baton Rouge LA. A long time family friend, who knew them both said the info is about right, so it could be her.
They had three children: Pearl, Johnny and Ida Lee. I don't know their ages but this is the order in which they were always mentioned. They were probably born in Texarkana, (Miller county, AR or Bowie county, TX)?
Uncle Bill was a carpenter; his WWI draft card (Sept 1918, Texarkana, TX) names his mother, Martha Edmon; as next of kin; he remarried (Dee Holloway) about 1944. They had a daughter, Mary Jane, b. 9/19/1945. He died 3/27/1956 in Texarkana, TX.
I am trying to locate any of these descendants. All info will be greatly appreciated. cmc

G Grandfather John R. Edmon

Family lore says he was an 'English gentleman'. He came
'down' from Missouri and married 'Muddy' who was full-blood Cherokee born on reservation at Tahlequah. No one in the family could say for sure where they married but I found one John R. Edmon[of Missouri] and Martha Coffee married in Dunklin, MO. on the same wedding day[8/9/1874]which was in my Grma's Bible. At this time I can find NO Dunklin but there is a Dunksburg about 1/2 way between Kansas City and Columbia, MO. Their birth dates are the same so I feel reasonably sure that is the right couple. What I would like to find is where did they go from there. Both died in Texarkana, AR. He in July 1893 and she in March 1932 and buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. Has anyone come across anything that could give me a lead. I would be very grateful and will be happy to share other info I have. Thank you. my email is >>>cmycrate@hotmail.com

I tried a different atlas and there IS a Dunklin County. I was looking for a town. It is in that little hook between AR and TN a little s/w of New Madrid. Guess it is true to "just keep shaking it and something is sure to fall out". But it was so far from Tahlequah OK, I didn't even think of looking that far. Now, I have to remember to KEEP AN OPEN MIND !!!
