Jefferson Co, TN. William Edmonds (born 1847/48) (son of Wm. & UNK-NOT Rhoda CHAMBERS) m1 Rebecca MOORE m2Minerva CRUZE.

There are posts that say he is William Anderson Edmonds, son of William Edmonds (abt1815) and Rhoda Chambers (abt1815).

I'm having three problems with that.

#1. In 1860, 1870 censuses he is just William, 1800 Wm., 1900 AND 1910 just William and 1920 and 1930 he's just W.M.

WHERE did someone get Anderson as his middle name. I think that's his son's middle name (the one who married Kilgore) but can find NO DATA on. I'm hoping there's a family member out there with a Bible or a will!

The dates listed for his man are strange also. According to all his censuses he was not born before 1845. . He is listed as younger than Theodrick on his dad's census. Theodrick (m Josephine BAKER) is pretty consistent with his birth years. Bet. 1843 - 1844

Since William is on the 1930 census with Minerva he didn't die in 1928. Most of their kids' data are at Atchley Funeral Home site but none of them list his middle name.

TVA records for grave reinterments: He and Roscoe were buried first in adjacent graves.
Edmonds W. M. 1848 1935 TN Jefferson Pleasant Hill ME 49-687 1942 Pleasant Hill Acdt
Edmonds Roscoe 1909 1922 TN Jefferson Pleasant Hill ME 49-688 1942 Pleasant Hill Tyfd

#2. Rhoda Chambers isn't his mother if his deposition to the VA on 1 November 1924 is correct. Phillip Walker found that he stated he was Mary's HALF brother. She was applying for widow's pension for William Jasper Samples.

#3. I can find no marriage for Wm. Chambers and Rhoda Chambers. I can find a Rhoda Vance in Dec 1850. Chambers might have been her married name and she was married to a Vance first, but I can't find that either.

All help appreciated.

Thanks.

Shirley

He lists the kids in order of birth each time.

The lists in addition to son Harvey's first three censuses confirm he was born 1873-1874. (that's not 1870)

Ammer's 1900 date is off by a few YEARS so Harvey's might be off by one.

Don't know if you are still searching for Edmonds but have you run across a Harriet Edmunds Edmonds B 1854 married to a William Edmonds? He died before 1900. They lived in Lunenburg Co. Harriet was nicknamed "Mitt". She had 13 children but only 4 lived one of whom was my grandmother. Thanks

I don't think William Thomas is the same as Thomas because the Thomas I am looking for probably had a brother William. On the surface I just don't see the fit. Captain John Edmonds lived and died in Fauquier County VA in 1798. Not sure what time frame you are referencing. I may be missing something would not rule that out.

Hi Robert:

I'm going through the old boards fixing this because now that Ancestry has the new "click anything you want before you even verify it" feature everyone is clicking all junk on OneWorldTree.

Years ago someone didn't pay attention to the dates of the two marriages and just decided to combine the first names of the brides.

We know Jane m: John Pratt in 1822. We have the bond and/or license from Jefferson County Archives. Plus they are on two censuses together in Indiana.

We know her assumed niece (daughter of Jane's brother Isaac) married a DIFFERENT JOHN EDMONDS in Jefferson County in 1868. Marriage bond and/or license available from Jefferson County Archives. They and their kids are all on a WorldConnect page.

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op...

They're on the 1870, 1880 and 1900 censuses. Mary Ann died 1908 and was buried at Pleasant Hill.

John P. Edmonds died February (NOT MARCH AS BEING CIRCULATED--LOOK AT THE DC) 1919 and was buried in consecutive graves with her and one confirmed grandson (Floyd) and the other assumed granson (not proven)Charles.

The first son married Martha MOORE (d of Vineyard Bates Moore) and went to Cleveland, OH and most of their kids stayed there. One of them married Hoyt Swann. Another married a Jenes. I forget all the details.

I am looking for information on John's son William and his family. Specifically, I am trying to determine if William had a son also named William and a daughter Octavia. I have verified he had sons Thomas and John and daughters Jane and Elizabeth. His wife was Sally (last name unknown). For the most part I lose the family after they sell their farm (inherited by William) in 1817 in Fauquier.

FINALLY!!!!!!

I believe your "stray Thomas" could be our William Thomas Edmonds. William T m Martha Watkins(?) and had several children. Their daughter Mary Etta Edmonds married Calvin Lee Rawls which are my ggrandparents.

They also had a son, Isaac "Zeak / Zeek" Thomas Edmonds. According to family history, Isaac used to spend summers in Tulsa. During the period he would of done this he would have had to been Native American (Cherokee, Cree possibly) which would be where our Native American comes in that we have always been told. Capt. John Edmonds (if memory serves correctly)lived on a reservation in Oklahoma and Sally was Native American but I have never been able to find out what her given name is.

If any of this sounds familiar or you would just like to swap information you may email me at bec35074@live.com

I am also tracing the EDMONDS line from Udimore. I have gone back on my direct ancestral line to Alfred Edmonds b.1826, son of Ruth Edmonds and John Hills. (Alfred married Naomi Avery in 1854.) I have noted the Isaac Edmonds line that you mention from the online records, but am not sure if this originates from the same Ruth Edmonds on my research (although the dates are very close). I would be interested to compare notes.

Tony Edmonds
