John Edmondson, Catherine

If anyone has info on a John Edmondson, now here's the story. John was also known as Noah, he was a merchant marine who was originally from Ireland. John fell in love with a woman from the islands (either Tahiti or the Phillipeenes). The country of Ireland wouldn't allow John to bring his island bride off of the ship, so he left his country went to England with her. I don't know what her real name was or which island she came from, but John named her Catherine.
John Catherine then came to the US, he owned property in Balt City, but when he died in the late 1800's he gave it to the city of Baltimore. The city then named a road after him - Edmondson Blvd. If you have any info on Catherine or John, which piece of land he owned in Balt harbor area why he didn't give it to his family - I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Edmonson Edmondson) family in Williamson County & Marshall County, TN

I am trying to find some family tree members in Tennessee for my great grandfather and great grandmother that moved from Williamson County, TN in the late 1880's by covered wagon to Lamar County, Texas. From studying some of the 1900 to 1930 Census records I have noted a large number of Edmonson (Edmondson) in the census records of Williamson County for that time frame. My great grandfather was R. C. Edmonson (Edmondson) and he married my great grandmother Emily Simmons in 1870 in Williamson County. I know very little regarding him, but I have located him in the 1880, 1870 and possibly the 1860 Census in Williamson County, Tennessee. I am particularly interested in Ollie Edmonson who is listed in the 22nd District of Williamson County in the 1920 Census and the 1910 and 1930 Census of Marshall County. His wife's name was Dora. One of the male children was shown as Kemmons and another as Horace. Inasmuch as my great grandfather named his eldest son Horace and Horace Edmonson named one of his sons Clemon (sounds a lot like Kemmon) I felt that there might be a family connection based upon the names being similar on the children. I am also interested in Lemuel Edmonson in the same district of Williamson County in the 1900, 1910, 1920 Census of Williamson County. When I found my great grandmother and great grandmother in the Williamson County Census they were in District 21 and 22 of Williamson County. I am grasping at straws in hope that some of the above mentioned Edmonson (Edmondson) family will be of help to me. Thank you very much.

William Edmondson born 1675

I am researching the son of John and Sarah Morgan Edmondson born 1675 died 1702. He was married to Sarah Sharp in 1692. According to the information I have found so far he and Sarah both died in 1702 fairly close to the same time. Does anyone have any info about the death of this couple? Supposedly they were buried together on a family plantation in Talbot County Maryland.

EDMONDSON, William b. 1766 NC

My William EDMONDSON b. 1 Aug 1766 NC d. 13 May 1853 (ref: Edmondson Family Bible) was in the 1850 Maury Co.TN Federal Census, living with his son, Joseph B. EDMONDSON. We have never been able to figure out where he fits in the NC EDMONDSON family. We know he was married 2x. Until now, no idea who his wife was. Checking the TN 1850 mortality schedule I noticed a Gracy EDMONDSON d. Apr 1850 (age 75). Looking back through my copied Bible pages I saw Gracy Edmondson died 7 Apr 1850. There is a William EDMONDSON m. 26 May 1801 to Gracy EDWARDS in Onslow,NC. I suspect this is my William. These folks are on the 1840 Census, Maury Co.TN with Gracy's birth caculated as being between 1770/1780. On the mortality schedule Gracy's name is listed as EDMINSON. Almost didn't find her.

With this bit of added information, I am trying to cast a wide net to see if anyone can recognize this William or Gracy EDMONDSON.

Thank you for your time.

Carol & David

William Frank Edmondson b. Boyd Co. KY 9 Dec 1863

William Frank Edmondson was a son of William F. Edmonson and Mary Ellen Moore. He was born in Boyd Co., KY, on December 9, 1863. He then moved to Daviess Co., IN, where he died on August 12, 1941. He was married to Mary Frances Powell and had five children.

If anyone knows about this family, please let me know. I believe but have not been able to prove that my gg-grandfather, James A. Edmonson/Edmondson, was also a son of the same William F. Edmondson and Mary Ellen Moore of Boyd Co., KY.

James died in Daviess Co., IN, on October 24, 1912, and was born around 1877 (there are different birthdates on different documents, and I don't know which one is correct). James did not have a marker on his grave, and no family members were mentioned in his obituary. (He was crushed by a wagonload of stone, which was apparently such a sensational news item that they neglected to mention family members in the story.) His death record states that he was born in Washington, Daviess Co., IN, and that his father was William Edmonson and his mother was Ellen Moor. James married Mary Ellen "Ella" Sturgeon in Daviess Co., IN, and had many kids.

An interesting point is that William Frank Edmondson had a daughter named Rosetta who married John Burton Meyers. James A. Edmonson had a daughter named Della Marie who married Louis Frank Bline. John Meyers and Louis Bline were first cousins.

If anyone has any information about the William F. and Mary Ellen (Moore) Edmondson family, please help me break down this brick wall!

Thanks,
kelly

Robert Edmondston

Washington County VA Surveyors records show that in 1763 Robert Edmonston (various spellings) settled on a track of land on the South Fork of the Holston River. This is a very early settlement date. While there are a few settlement dates even earlier in Old Washington County, that are in areas well up the valley of the Holston. Its possible that the transcriptions for this record available on the net (e.g, at New River Notes), are in error and this parcel was not settled this early. A date of around 1773 would be much more plausible, and anything earlier than 1769 would be questionable.

Does anyone have any information related to this Robert Edmonston?

SANFORD REN EDMONDSON

Sanford Ren Edmondson was born 1927, died 1/25/1916 in Middletown, Frederick Co., VA. He Married (1852) Mary Elizabeth Huff, b.1836, d. 1907. Sanford's parents were Archibald Edmondson and Susan Venable. I am searching for Archibald's parents and place of birth. Edmondsons have been in Frederick County since mid to late 18th century. There are three marriages of note in that period. Archibald Edmondson to Nancy B. Wrenn, 29 Oct 1789; John to Sarah Elkins, 4 March 1799, and Thomas to Ann Campbell, 16 March, 1786. Are these three men brothers, cousins? Is one of them the father of Sanford? Any information appreciated.

Have started an Edmonds/Edmunds surname dna project

Frustrated by numerous dead ends while researching my mom’s maiden name (Edmunds), I have started a genealogical based Edmonds/Edmunds surname dna project with the help of a direct-line male Edmunds cousin. We are now looking for others with the Edmunds surname or a variation (Edmonds, Edmondson, etc.) that already have dna test results or are interested in being tested to join our project. We hope to identify distant cousins that share a common ancestor, and help others to do the same in the process. Since there are many unrelated Edmunds/Edmonds families out there, dna may be helpful in sorting through the numerous branches. If you are interested, please contact me. If you want more information about dna used for genealogical purposes, you may want to visit the website of the lab we used or it’s parent laboratory. FYI: Our cost for a 26-marker Y-chromosome dna test was $95.

http://www.relativegenetics.com/relativegenetics/contact_us....

http://www.sorensongenomics.com/

Trying to locate family of my ggrandfather, Thomas Machinter (?-spelling) Edmondson (b. 1850's/60 ) Not sure of his birthplace but was married to Matilda Simpson of Mooretown, ONTARIO, Canada. Both had been previously married with children from those marriages. My grandfather- Fares Edmondson was the only child born from their union. As it goes, his parents were already in their forties!! With this split in the family I am having a hard time locating other family members. Any response would be appreciated/ Ruth

John Edmondson of Talbot County Maryland

I am descended from John Edmondson (1640-1697) through William (1675-1702), John (1699-1768), Solomon (1744-1818), Samuel (1767-1861), Thomas Jefferson (1805)-1850-60), Braxton Clark (1840-1924), John Casvel (1876-1971), and William Braxton (1906-1996). If anyone has any information on my line that they would like to share, I'd appreciate it.
It appears that I have names of all the children from each generation, but not a lot on spouses. The names and dates I have were mostly provided by my aunt, Ruth Edmondson
Hendrickson, who had a professional researcher work on the line a number of years ago. A lot of my info also came from
the Edmondson Family Bulletin.

I have a good bit of info on the original John Edmondson,
including a short bio published in a Maryland History
Magazine, but it's the intervening generations that need
fleshing out.

If anyone has any specific questions, I'll be glad to try and fill in the blanks from what I have, and I'd appreciate
any help you can give me.

Hope Edmondson Jinks
Alabama

HILTON, Horace & Elizabeth-1870 Bath, Beaufort Co, NC

Bob Edmondson seeking contact with HILTON descendants, in particular the above family. My GG G/Mo, Frances H. [m-n-u] (b-July 1814), married David C. Martin (b~1805). They raised a family of 8 kids in the Bertie – Martin Co area. David died after the 1850 census, where family was recorded in Bertie Co. Youngest son, Robert, was b-Jan 1851. Widow Frances & 6 kids were recorded in Hamilton, Martin Co, NC 1860 census records. She died Sept 1865, & is buried in Hamilton Meth. Church cemetery, along with family members. Family "talk' suggests that her maiden name might have been HILTON. Her oldest son, James H. Martin (b-1832) initially found as ‘h-o-h’ in Bath Township in the 1860 census, was with new wife Mary Ann Draper (b-1837-Washington, Co), and infant dau, Elethia Carthine (b-1860). I recently found three of GG G/Mo Frances' younger kids, living with Horace & Elizabeth HILTON, in the 1870 Bath, Beaufort Co census records. This could be strong evidence that these kids were in the care of family members, in a nearby county, following Mother’s death in 1865. Any help in filling in the missing puzzle pieces would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob Edmondson Chatsworth, CA

George Melton EDMONDSON Sr., obit , 1919 - 2006

not related - for your info only

Edmondson Sr., George Melton

George Melton Edmondson, Sr. of Chino, passed away on Christmas Day at the age of 87 due to complications from a recent stroke. Mr. Edmundson was born on August 3, 1919 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and was raised in Missouri. He was the youngest of six children born to Sally and Melton Edmondson. As a young man he moved to California where he began his career in the grocery and meat business. Following military service in World War Two, he owned and operated "George's White Way Market" in Pomona, where customers were welcomed as friends and enjoyed his fabulous BBQ chicken, ribs, and salads. Generations of teenagers, including his own children, grew up working under George's fatherly tutelage, appreciating the friendly, small-town feel of the neighborhood store. It was a store from a different era -- a place where the early morning paper was paid for by an honor system (throwing coins under the door), the water cooler of soda pop served as a neighborly meeting place, and George, in his trademark bow tie and crew cut, reigned as greeter to the community. Mr. Edmondson also owned a wholesale meat, fish, cheese, and poultry business, supplying food to many area restaurants. He is survived by his wife, Martha Edmondson, of Chino and his children Ron and Cindy Sommerhause of Grand Junction, Colorado, Jan and Jim Beeger of Los Altos Hills, CA, Donna Foster of Chino and Donald Harris of Palm Coast, Florida. He was predeceased by son, George Edmondson, Jr. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Mr. Edmondson will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, his easy laugh and sense of humor, and his welcoming, optimistic nature. He was an avid gardener whose home was once honored by the city of Chino for its lovely landscaping. He loved people and they loved him back. He will be deeply missed. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 4 from 5-8 p.m. at Todd Memorial Chapel, 570 N. Garey Ave., Pomona. Burial service will take place on Friday, January 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina.
Hi,

I am trying to find out for my stepfather what become of his mother after she left his family home when he was 4 years old, she is one Greta Edmondson born february 22nd 1909 and so is probably no longer living, my stepfather is one Harold Whittall in his 70's and he has a sister eight years older than he, all he knows of his mother is that her maiden name was Greta Edmondson married to his father who was also Harold Whittall, the rest we are slowly finding through research on the internet, we have discovered that her parents were Angelina Harvey and William Edmondson, and the address on her birth certificate gives 8, Marsden Street Barrow, she married Harold aged 17, they had two children one being my stepfather, Greta & Harold's marriage certificate state an Elizabeth Harvey and Eric Stilling as witnesses to the marriage, but that is all we know of her, as i say Greta & Harold divorced and the last time my stepfather saw his mother was when he was 4 years old, he was completely cut off from Greta's family, and basically he just wants to know what become of his mother, did she remarry? did she have anymore children? I mean he thinks she may have been pregnant when she left the family home but he isn't hundrd percent sure, he isn't going to judge her, he just wants to know something about his own mum that's all, obviously if Greta did remarry it is going to make it all the more harder to trace what become of her, but he thinks she may have went to Glasgow.

many thanks.
I am transcribing the Evergreen Cemetary in Ontario, Malheur Co., Oregon and thought I would post pictures of the Pre-1900 headstones for those interested in having them. This is a very large cemetary, there is a possibility there could be other family members buried here after this time period. If you are interested in them, I can look for them specifically.

Albert Nolan Edmondson's father

I'm curious as to who Albert Nolan Edmondson's father was. His descendants are like so:

Albert Nolan (Oct 11 1875-Apr 24 1959) married Fannie May Apgar (Oct 18 1878-Sep 14 1944), daughter of Isaac Apgar and Annie. They begot Albert Frederick Edmondson (1907-1995), who married Temple Hazel Hoagland (1912-), daughter of Walter Harvey Hoagland (1883-1959), son of John Baylor Hoagland (1853-1934). Albert Frederick and Temple Hazel begot Alan Temple (1949- and Janet Mae Edmondson (1946-). Alan Temple married Nancy Louise Hummel (1950-) and begot Lillian Rachel (1981-) and David Alan (1984-) Edmondson.

Albert Nolan's father and mother are mysteries - those who knew him refused to talk about him. The best we know is that Albert Nolan was born in Bedford, IN in 1875, as said above. Any help would be very appreciated. I also have a fairly extensive tree on the Hoagland side, back through New Amsterdam, if anyone would like some history of my little corner of the Edmondson family.

I am looking for information on the ancestors of Hamilton Robert Edmondson, born 27 April 1870. The 1870 Census shows him as the son of M.D. Edmondson (b. South Carolina abt. 1816) and Manerva (Nations???), living in Limestone Co. Alabama, with siblings Susan, Margaret, Mattie, Alice, WIlliam, Mollie, Annie, and Fannie. The census shows that, other than M.O., they were all born in Alabama.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find this family in the 1860 or 1880 census.

"Ham" later married Etta Sarah Rolfe; they had a fairly large family that was widely dispersed.

Steve Kite

I am getting back to my family history research after a long absence. I would like to continue assembling a family tree for EDMONDSON.

I am particularly interested in the ancestors/descendants of Alma Gertrude Edmondson, born in 1888 in Edinburgh, Scotland, died 25 February 1983 in Cleveland, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She married Thomas John Knight Hasling, born 11 January, 1888 at North Willoughby, New South Wales, Australia, died 2 march 1947 and was buried in the Salvation Army section, Macquarie Park Cemetery, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. I have a list of their children if required.

If anyone would like to exchange EDMONDSON information with me they would be very welcome. Information regarding any family trees bearing this surname would be very helpful to my research as I hope to eventually find connecting ancestors to all individuals bearing this same name worldwide. I would be more than willing to send what information I have by Gedcom, or any other agreed method, to any interested parties. I run Legacy 6 as a family history programme on my computer.

If anyone would like to exchange MADDEN information with me they would be very welcome.
DNA Project -- Edmondson

It seems that the DNA project needs more male members from the Edmondson's to participate. If the cost is what is stopping people, just think of what we have already spent on the research time or papers. Mine was just completed and I am very satisfied with the cost. It has opened up a whole new channel for me to investigate and has put me very close to my connections in the late 1700's. Several more direct links in England and Ireland, but I'm trying to close in on the U.S. first. May anyone have a connection to the Farris Family, VA .. early 1800's.

Tks ...

Hi: I've recently added some Edmondson photos to the Haddock family website. They are included with the section of Barry County Schools.

Also on the Haddock web page I am adding early newspaper items from Barry County. Those include 1890 through 1921 and I am presently typing 1915, so I have about six more years to type.

Those are very informative and worth you time and effort to read if you have any people in the area.

Here is the link - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~haddockfamily/index...

There is a search box on the front page - down in the middle - and you will probably need it for the newspaper files.

Donna

Edmondsons

Tommy....I am impressed with your abilities on a computer. So far, mine include cutting it on and cutting it off. Can search a little bit, too.

I am not sure that this is my line at all. Someone gave me the information that I have and I haven't been able to prove any of it. These names don;t seem to be the ones that I was given. My grandfather, George Wiley Edmondson was the son of Willie (Wiley) Edmondson who had brothers, Pollard, William Mansel, Oscar and a sister whose name was Nancy Jane (she married an Alfred Warren ). Their ancestors were (excepting Pollard and Annis) were Thomas Edmondson and Frances (Fanny Thigpen). The first person we have was Dr. Thomas Edmondson of Martin County who was married to Ann Howard Hodges. The sons in that family were Pollard, William and Thomas and a son who was born after Dr. Thomas' death.....Randolph. I have found William Edmondson in census and he seems to have had children that matched the ages of Willie and his siblings. Haven't been able to prove any of this either.

I applaud your efforts in adding information to the Edgecombe website. It really helps those of us who started late and find that their gray matter isn't what it used to be. Thanks again.

I have come across a teacher's reading/writing copybook from the Memphis (TN) Public Schools' Leath School, Emma B. Browne, Principal. The lessons were done in May 1897 in Miss K. J. Edmondson's first grade class. She has numerous notations on the pupils' work. The book was found in an abandoned farmhouse in Virginia at least 20 - 30 years ago. Would like to try to deliver to a descendant of Miss Edmondson if interested party can provide sufficient identifying data. It is an interesting relic.

Hi: For some time now, I have been typing Barry Co., MO, newspaper items. I now have posted the years 1890 through 1913. And in among the listings there were a lot of Edmondson surnames.

I am typing on the 1914 ones now and when I have the project finished it will go through 1921. But there are already a lot of papers listed and tons of information that will interest researchers of Barry Co., MO and the surrounding areas.

There is a search engine on the front page, and you will probably need it - but if you just want to walk through them, then just go down the page and you will see listed the Barry Co., MO Newspaper project.

Here is the link:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~haddockfamily/index...

Donna
