Martha, Benjamin and Joseph are brothers to Sarah. In 1880 Sarah was living with her aunt Rebecca Parrott. Sarah married Thornton Blake in 1887. Sarah died in 1939 and is buried in GAR Cemetery, Miami, Oklahoma. Mary Myers Edson married Jacob Bradshaw and died in 1902. She is buried in Brentwood Cemetery, Washington, Arkansas. Luther Edson died in 1918 at Westville, Oklahoma. If I can be of additional help my E-mail is jerryandjaniceboyd@gmail.com

jerry

Re: Edson Family

Would Sarah have had brothers, Benjamin Grant and Joseph Henry Edson? I am looking at a line for a friend and these look close, but I may have picked up the wrong line in census records. Joseph Henry was b. 1872 and I beleive he was the son of Luther and Mary A Edson. This Mary possibly remarried a Mr. Bradshaw (after splitting up with Luther) and the boys are shown in the 1880 Census in Washington County, AR at the bottom of the list of children, but are shown as "Bradshaw" instead of "Edson." Sarah may be shown with another family-aged 16 in 1880.

Benjamin and Joseph Henry married sisters, Margaret and Tennie Mae Orman and all moved to Okmulgee County, OK.

I found reference on someone else's tree posted in World Connect on rootsweb.com that Mary A was Mary Ann Kelly daughter of William Kelly. You show Mary Myers.

Luther remarried to Rebecca and moved to Red River, TX (1880)and then on to Castro County, TX (1900). Luther was the son of J. Aldon and Elizabeth Edson. Aldon was born in NY. They were found in Indiana before AR and in Cooke Co, TX and then back to AR.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Martha Miller

Hi, I have a copy of Amos Edson's birth certificate. He was born in 1850 in Barnsley, Yorkshire West Riding to John Edson and Mary Hodgson Edson. I know her maiden name was Hodgson because its declared on the birth certificate. I know the family came to Paterson, NJ because John was a weaver because his occupation is on the birth certificate. John Edson lived a very long life, well into his 90s. My grandfather was the great grandson to Amos Edson who was a janitor at Paterson, NJ city hall. I have scanned in his birth certificate and posted it in his ancestry.com tree profile. Mary Hodgson's brother and his family lived next door to the Edson's in Paterson and came over at the same time. I would love to know more about the family, my beloved grandpa Edson died in 1990.

Hello. I believe these families may be related to my Edson's. Note my ancestry.com tree: John Edson and Mary Hodgson Edson. They came to America because John was a weaver and found work in Paterson, NJ as well as Mary's brother John Hodgson who lived next door. They had my GGGgrandfather in Barnsley, Yorkshire West Riding England in 1850 and came to Paterson in 1860.

Hi
I am descended from Ann Edson who married Thomas Oates, I believe in about 1834. Their children were Thomas, Eliza, Elijah, Charles Henry & George Robert. All of the children were born in Manchester Lancashire and in the 1841 census they were living in Chorlton upon Medlock, Lancashire.
I cannot find the family in any other census so cannot identify where the parents were born (the 1841 census says only the children were born in Lancashire). Birth records for the children give Ann's maiden name as Edson but I cannot locate a birth or marriage for either Thomas or Ann.
Can anyone help please or suggest anything else I could try?
Thanks
Sue

Saw an old posting about a couple books you own. If there might be anymore info. in them on this grouping, I would be happy to know about it. I hope there is an index in them for your sake.
Samuel Edson and Susanna Orcutt had Joseph ~1648. Joseph Edson and Mary Turner had Timothy ~ 1690. Timothy Edson and Mary Alden (the Mayflower connection) had Abijah 1725. Abijah Edson and Susanna Snow had James 1759. James Edson and either Rebecca or Lovina Hancock had James 1788. James Edson and Susan Moore had Aurilla 1817.
I found supposed proof of that line from Samuel to Rebecca or Lovina.
I found proof of my line back to James Edson and Susan Moore.
There are a number of exact names and dates for the children of Rebecca and Lovina that link them to being one person. Would your material confirm or deny the connection? Hope you are at this same address, or that someone can give me your current address, or the answer to my question. Paul

Hi. My husband's name is William Edwin Tidmore. His grandfather was Edwin (Tub, Tubb, not really sure if that is his middle name) Edson. He lived in Mt. Shasta or Weed California and married a woman with the last name of Root. They had three children, Leland Edson, who committed suicide in about 1977, Viola Venecia Edson, ( my husband's mother) and Carl Edson. They were all born and raised in the Mt. Shasta area. Edwin Edson's wife died in apx. 1949-1951. He then remarried. If you have any information on this family, I would appreciate it if you would e mail me at jennifer_tidmore@hotmail.com thank you
