My gr-gr-gr-grandfather, Thomas Egan, came from Dunblaney, parish of Dunmore in the Diocese of Tuam, Co. Galway. He studied medicine at Montpellier University in France. He practised medicine for more than forty years in Dublin and lived in Sackville Street (now O'Connell Street) and died in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath in 1818. His daughter (my gr-gr-grandmother), Elinor Egan, married Henry Faunt in 1816. They lived near Mullingar and emigrated to Canada in 1833.
