Hi, Arthur;
I am very confused on this Egeler family. Which one of John and Margarets children married Clara Rofina Alpers?
Their son Ernest Egeler married Elizabeth Pearl Hohnke from my family tree. Also, my sister-in-laws g-grandmother was an Egeler, Anna Catherine or Catherine Anna. Her parents were, IF I have it correct, John F. Egeler born in Illinois and Louisa Wilhelmina Bockstahler born in New York.
If anyone on this board can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Shelhamer genealogy published....Eastern Pa. lines

This 244 page family history with index has been produced on acid free paper by Masthof publications of Morgantown, Pa. for David Silcox of Shillington, Pa. Originally from Pottsville, Pa., Silcox has been researching the Shellhammer, Shelhamer family for over a 48 year period. His mother was a Shelhamer, the daughter of Charles Albert Shelhamer. His earliest ancestor was Hans Jurg Schellhammer who arrived in Philadelphia in 1753 and eventually settled in what is now West Penn Township. This book contains many photos and copies of early land warrants and surveys of land obtained by the Shellhammer family of West Penn Township and information relating to many of the families that married into the Shellhamer family.

The cost of this publication is $21.99 plus $3.50 for shipping via media mail. Add $1.00 extra for mailing for each additional copy. The book will be available for shipping sometime around October 20, 2011 and can be ordered from David R. Silcox, 404 E. Broad Street, Shillington, Pa. 19607. Call or e-mail with any questions to 610-777-2167 or silx404@aol.com

Dieter,

I would like to know more about my Egeler family. I don't have much information to go on, but I do know that my Egeler's listed Baden-Wuerttemburg as their place of origin. Is Steven still in the Boise area? Does he have a copy of the family tree or could you send this information to him? I would also like to know about Nebringen itself. Please let me know if you are interested in establishing some contact.

Hello I have some Egeler's in my tree from the traverse area. But that are all from around 1900 or older. That came from Germany in the early to mid 1800's. If you know of any names from that far back i would be intrested in seeing if they are in my tree. My last name is Egler and I have found that in some of the lines it has changed to and then from Egeler.

Thanks for your response.
I have SS death record for Clara Egeler 364-54-4850 bpon November 20, 1884 d. Aug 1972.
Could "Wittenberg" possibly be Wuerttemberg? Seems like lots of Egeler's came from there. I am still working on the Egeler families in Leland Township and Centerville Township in Leelanau County, MI.

All I have seen is the Michigan census records of 1870 for 3 families listed as originating from Wuerttemburg. The sons are listed as born in NY in the census about 1850. A local history of Leelanau Twp. Leelanau County has them going from NY to Wisconsin before arriving in Michigan. I also have a deathe record for Catherine, a widow who was head of one of the 3 families. Odds are your Egeler's are also from Wuerttemburg. I was there for a visit about a month ago (Heidelberg, Bad Wimpfen, Schwabish Hall)and a German acquaintance said that name is typical of that region. It is a beautiful, rolling agricultural area with hills covered by trees (similar to N. Michigan!). I don't yet know exactly where in Wuerttemburg my Egeler gggrandfather came from, or how they came to America.
If you have census information for this family in NY or Wisconsin, I'd appreciate it (1860 and 1850).
I have a short history of what was going on in the early 1800's. There was no Germany. Wuerttemburg was a kingdom. After Napolean, the area was in turmoil. Glad to send you what I have!

My grandfather (4x) was from W. Germ. in 1872, I have a copy of the manifest. He and his brother(Jacob) went to MT by 1883. You are the first person I have ever seen post anything on Egelers from W. Ger. Do you have any family history of them in Germ? My John (Johann) has a son Eugene who marries a Heyer born in Foxlake WI. Married 1906 in MT. Jacob dies from a farming accident early leaving a widow named Rose, with a family. I had seen your John in some census reports while trying to find mine. Do you have anything that might help me??? My Grandmother was Louise Edith Egeler. Daughter of Eugene and Ella. This is so early in MT history they are very difficult to find. I want to find the family roots in Germany.

Egelers Wurttemberg, Germany to MI

John and Margaret Egeler emigrated from Wurttemberg Germany before 1850. Children Phillip and John are born in NY 1850 and 1852, and Polly (Pauline?)perhaps in Wisconsin. They arrive in Leelanau County, Michigan before 1870. The 1870 Michigan census has John as 71 and Margaret as 64. There are two other Egeler families listed, Charles age 37 and Catherine age 51, evidently a widow. All are from Wurttemberg.
If anyone has run across this family, please contact me. My grandmother is Anna Pauline Egeler, daughter of Phillip.

So far I have found John on the Deutschland bound from Bremen arrived 13 May 1872. So I missed the 1870 census, and I know that he is in Montana by 1890. He naturalized in 1877, but the records are no where to be found, index listing only. Dorothea (Hiller) gets here by the Oder 1 Nov. 1875. Records show children born in 1877 in Montana. So here is the problem,1. I can't find where or when they married. 2. Did they stay with ?family? in MI. 3. were they really into Montana by 1877? And the biggie, I have nothing on either one before passage to America other than listing Wuert as birthplace on census and nat. forms. Any ideas? !? thanks much.

My ancestors were Mathias and Catherine Keller. They were the parents of Theresa Keller who married Jacob Schwarz. Theresa and Jacob's daughter Blanche was my grandmother. Mathias and Catherine lived mainly in Centerville. Jacob and Theresa were from Leland and Jacob built Schwarz Hall which burned down and also the Riverside Inn which my grandmother ran for many years with her sister Anna Schwarz.

Is this the same Catherine who you are saying is related to the Eglers??

John Christopher Egeler was born in 1832 in Wurttemburg and married Amelia ? from Bavaria. They show up in the 1880 census of Marshall, Calhoun County, Michigan census with six kids all born in Wurtemburg; Carrie J., b. 1859; John C., b. 1862; Charles Henry, b. 1864; Ida L b. 1867 and Frederick Wilhelm b. 1870. Emily Egeler is in there somewhere. She and her sisters both married Kahlers from Wurttemburg. John C. Egeler moved to Bay City later on and the families lost track of each other. Anybody working on this line????
