EGGER CEMETARY

There is an EGGER CEMETARY located in CALEDONIA MISSISSIPPI near Aberdeen-Tupelo area. Some of the graves there date back to the 1700's. I was very surprised to have stumbled on to this place by accident when my boyfriend went to pick an old schoolmate to come and visit us. His friend's family land actually backs up to this cemetary which happens to be my maiden name. I was so very surprised. I WAS TOLD THAT There are allot of the Egger family still living in that area also. This place is in the country (rural) area-farmland. I would have never found it on my own. Info from Monroe -Lowndes county MS may help you find some of the people you are looking for. My father is ROBERT C. I too am researching the Egger family. My great grandmother was Veronika Egger, the youngest of 12. she came over about 1885. she came with family(sisters,brothers or cousins). Her mother's name was Anna Gurna(not sure how to spell. Father was Francis or Frederich who was farmer with lots of land. Only paperwork I have says she came from Silesia which I believe was part of Austria but she was Polish.

Egger Grand Junction

I am trying to find information about the Egger family that were cattle Ranchers in Grand Junction. I don't know my great grand fathers name. But 2 of his daughters were Mabel Egger (married to Joe Fatur and lived in Cook County, IL) and Agnes (married to Augie). I know they had more siblings I just don't know names. My father, Fritz Egger, is not familiar with any of the names in your message. He has lived in America since 1947. My father was born in Farnern in 1921 and emmigrated to America in 1947. His father, Eduard Egger, was born in Farnern in 1891. His grandfather, Erhard Egger was born in Farnern in 1846. His great-grandfather was Ueli Egger, but we are not sure of the place or date.

My father Horst Egger was born in Farnern and grew up on a farm in Zurzach. Horst's two late brothers were Herbert and Siegmund. Horst's sister is Amalia (Mali) and currently lives with her husband Paul in Dubendorf, Zurich.
I currently live in South Africa.

my eggers, too, ended up in london, ky. my grandmother's name is edeline egger. i have little information but remember going to church at the swiss colony as a little girl......around thirty years ago. i could probably dig up some more information if you are still looking. i notice your post is from 2002. let me know!

I have information about a Charles A. Egger born in 1850; died 1894. Most of the information about the Egger family that I am part of are from Mills Co., TX. What is your dad's name and where is he from?

Mothers family

My grandfather lived in Eggersreit and moved to England sometime in the early 1900's. His name was Heinrich Egger, one of his two brothers was Julius who went to USA and there was another brother who stayed in the village. My Mother is 89 years old now and I am curious about her family.

Wow - That's a lot of children!!
There may be a connection.... Many EGGERs immigrated to US in 1850-90.
My Egger family comes from Tyrol, which may also be listed as Austria, Switzerland (though this is incorrect), even Germany.
Some Egger families come from France or other countries...
Let me know what you find out.

Hi, I saw your post and may be sticking my neck out -- I really haven't had much opportunity to search ancestry like I wanted to.

I am the granddaughter of Joseph Egger who was a farmer/rancher in Colorado - he was born in 1983 in Black Hawk CO. He married Mary Magdelein Friedman from Mt. Angel Oregon. They had, I believe it was (if I recall- I'd need to go back and check for accuracy here) 18 children, my mother being one of them.

I don't have anything to track back from BlackHawk yet, but would be very much interested if you think there could be a tie in. I can tell you by nationality, we are primarily Austrian, Italian.

Thanks for your interest. My John Egger was born in 1833 and immigrated in 1867aboard the S.S.Deutschland with his wife,Johanna and their son,Fedal.There was possibly a young daughter with them,but I never found her again after the immigrationJohn died in Sandusky in 1914 and is buried in the Catholic cemetery there. Johanna burned to death in 1907 in Sandusky. I'll keep your questions in mind if I come across any information that I think relates to your John. Happy hunting!

I do not know anything about her ancestors or her ex-husband ( ? Egger).
I believe that either she or her husband had money from what my grandmother has told me.
Anna owned quite a bit of property in Warren, PA.
my grandmother told me that there was a John Struken related to Anna and Fred Strtucken was his son, (Florines's age b. abt 1890-1910) also a Bob Srucken somehow Related. I do not know the relationship of any of these people though.

Anna was born about 1839, possibly in Berne, My grandmother has a couple of items that say they are from Berne.
She had at least 2 children, Margretha and Fred (Probably Gotfried).

Anna came to New york at the age of 53 with Gottfried Dasen, her son-in-law and his daughter Theresa, here is her info from her passenger record:

I came upon your message and wondered if you ever found information on John and Johanna. They are my 2nd great grandparents. Their daughter,Anna (1886-1965),was my great grandmother. Although I was 6 when she died,I didn't know her.Did you find information on the Eggers? Did you know that Johanna died tragically in a fire? Just wondering where your research lead you.

While transcribing the passenger list for the ship LUCILLA, which arrived in BALTIMORE on August 3, 1840, I came across an interesting tidbit.

Sophia LUCILLA Egger was born on July 22, 1840 during the voyage. She has such an unusual name, maybe someone will recognize her.

I am searching for any information on Joseph and Carona Egger, who emigrated to Wisconsin in the late 1850s. They were both born in Bavaria, Germany. Their children were Joseph and Anton, who were born in Bavaria, and Maragethe and Victoria and John, who were born in Wisconsin. Joseph senior fought in the civil war from 1864 to 1865 with company G, 45th Infantry Regiment Wisconsin.

My ggrandmother was named Anna Struchen born 10/31/1830 in Taufelen, Berne, Switzerland, married to Anton von Känel in 1851.

I Her father was Benedicht Strucken and her mother was Elisabeth Bart.

I nothing more of her ancestors.

I wonder if your Anna Struchen is a connection to mine?

Does anyone have Egger ancestors from Bern canton in Switzerland who were Catholic? My Egger ancestor was Catholic and according to family lore was from Bern canton, but I have been unable to find any evidence for Catholic churches in Bern canton in the mid-1800s when he was born.

I am seeking information on descendants of John B. Egger who emigrated with wife and children from Switzerland to Milwaukee in 1881, and later moved to Chicago in 1889. My grandfather, Frederick Egger, was born in Coreopolis to Louis Egger and Barbara (Bardelang) Egger in 1897. Louis was the son of Victoria Egger and K Kratzner of Tyrol, Austria.

Frederick and his siblings grew up in a Catholic orphanage on Troy Hill in Pittsburgh. (now the site of North Catholic HS)

I am interested in your Egger family, my grandmother was Lena Egger. Her father was John or Jacob Egger, b. 1876 in Switzerland and her mother was Augusta Valerious/Valerius. Luzerne County, Pennsylvania,
Augusta died in 1899 from childbirth complications. Leaving three living children, Arnold, Lena and Edna. Arnold died in a drowning accident. John Egger changed his name to John Fischer/Fisher and moved to the Sandusky or Michigan area. He later died in the Moose Home in Philadelphia, I'm wondering if your John Egger is the same man? Do you know anything about background?
