Heather,
Believe me, I was just as surprised to see your message as you were to get an answer! With the private lives that Thelma and Lindsey lived, I did not ever expect to find his family. They did not have children together.
When Aunt Thelma and Uncle Lindsey came for visits to family members, either Memphis, TN., where Thelma’s mother lived; or to Little Rock, where my mother lived most of the time, were the times I got to see them.
They were married 09-14-1945 in Little Rock, AR. They did live in Little Rock for a time, and I am not certain how long, before they moved to Dallas, TX. They bought and paid for a modest home there. I visited them there once at the age of 14. Lindsey worked all his life with Delta Airlines. Lindsey always wore a shirt and tie!! It didn’t seem to matter how hot it was either! I have Lindsey’s and Thelma’s wedding photo and will be most happy to provide you a copy.
I will be happy to share what I know and will be thrilled to learn about Lindsey’s family. I noted the reference to Germany for his parents. Thelma’s lineage has been stateside for many generations. Her maiden name was Willingham, and that is obviously British. Her mother’s maiden name was Whobrey (Whoberry, Hooberry, and Whobery, amongst many variations), and we believe the original spelling of Hoppre to be French.
As a side, our 2nd daughter and her husband are in Germany now. Both of them speak German, as well as a couple of other languages.
Show offs!
Please email me, and I will get busy typing a message to return to you. I have questions too! For instance, did Lindsey’s brother Herman live in Dallas too? I noted a Herman Egner on the Social Security Death Index who’s last residence was Dallas. Which sister was your ancestor?? I keep adding even the way-out-there limbs to my tree!
I find it all so interesting.
