Looking to help a former student connect with a former nun who taught French at
Holy Trinity High School in Bloomington IL. (late 1960's-early 1970's) She would have been a Dominican sister (O.P.) from Sinsinawa Mound in Wisconsin She may have gone to California after she left religous life and possibly authored some books with possible publishers of
Paulist Press or Silver Burdette. We also think she married, but have no spouse names to search with.

Hello...I hope this helps you. My grandfathers name is Robert Ehlen and my grandmother is Eleanor Ehlen. They lived in South Bend, IN in the 1950's and then later moved to Lafayette, IN. They also have 2 children, a son and a daughter (which is my mother) that are 3 years apart in age. I would love to find other family members. Thank you!

EHLEN, LORENZ V., of Salem, was born in Shelby County, Mississippi, May 8, 1859, and came to Oregon in 1863. He settled on a farm near Aurora, Marion County. He has taken an active part in politics for many year, having been a delegate to conventions frequently, and an earnest member of Republican Clubs. In 1894 he was elected County Clerk of Marion County, and is again the party nominee for that office, having made a record for efficiency that won him renomination.

I don't know. All I have is a picture and the phone bill with a South Bend address. There are no Ehlens listed in the phone book anymore so they must have moved somewhere else. I only have his name. The picture is of a man, a woman and two children. It is very old.

Frank Ehlenz and Lucy Schlosser

I'm searching for ancestors of Frank Ehlenz, born in Germany about January, 1826 and died 1884 in Madison, MN. He married Lucy Schlosser in La Crosse, WI in 1864. She was born in 1841 or 1843 in Rittensdorf, Prussia. Ehlenz was also spelled Ehlen, Elentz, Elsen, Elenz, Ehlentz and more.

Any info on their ancestors would be greatly appreciated.

Just read your request for info. Robert & Eleanor Ehlen are my aunt & uncle They lived in Kenton, Ohio. Robert is deceased but Elenaor or "Norie" still survives. They had a son, Jerry who is approx. 3-4 years older than a daughter, Pam. I think these are the people you have been looking for.

Hello: My father, Donald Wilbur Ehlen, had a cousin Richard Ehlen. I also remember the name "Aunt Irene" but was very small if I ever met her. Richard Ehlen owned a car lot in Cincinnati, I believe, but most of the family was from Kentucky. I also know of William John Ehlen, Florida. He would have been an uncle, I believe, to my father. All I knew about "Uncle John" was that he was a horse breeder in Florida. I wish I could tell you more. My father, Donald Wilbur, passed away 2 years ago. His brothers, John Henry "Jack" Ehlen and Robert Ehlen are also passed away. The wives of Jack & Robert still survive. The parents of Don, Jack & Robert were Wilbur Ehlen who married Annette Thoms. If I can be of any further help, please let me know.

You have found my great-grandparents, Henry Engelken and Katherine Ehlen, married in 1894 in Zion Lutheran Church, Independence, Kansas. He emmigrated from Apensen, Germany in 1885, she from Weertzen, Germany in 1884.

I'm researching the German community of Independence, KS. Henry Engelken married Meta C. Ehlen here at Zion Lutheran Church (Zion Deutsche Evangelische Lutheraner Kirche) in 1894 with Pastor Georg Allenbach officiating, and members of the two families also married into other prominent local German families-- the Badens, Bredehofts, Fienens, Langes, etc. If you have any information about your family origins, I'd be interested. I know that a Henry Engelken immigrated from Apensen, Hannover, Ger. in 1885 but I'm not certain if it's the same one.

The letter I have refers to Lafayette which tells me I'm probably looking for someone in my Sheehan line. My g-grandmother was the eldest of 15 (mostly female). Some of the married names are: Redfern, Cronin, Sullivan, O'Brien, McGeogh, McMahon, Broderick, Hamilton and Collins.
Do these names mean anything to you? Was your Robert Ehlen married to Eleanor?

I found your message interesting. I was born in Teaneck, NJ where my mother grew up and my grandmother Paula Ehlen Wildermann lived after marrying and moving to the states from Germany. I know she had one brother that stayed in Germany, never married that died during WWII. I never heard of any other Ehlen relatives, especially here in the states but it could be possible.
