You asked about "Ehneys" from South Carolina.

Not sure if he's a direct relation, but I happen to be working on a history of a Civil War regiment (Hagood's 1st S.C. Volunters), and the unit had a 1st Sgt. by the name of William L. Ehney.

He left the regiment in April 1862 and subsequently joined the 2d S.C. Artillery (enlisting at Orangeburg, S.C.)

My name is Megan Ehney. From South Carolina. My father's name is James (Jimmy) Lee Ehney. He had 2 brothers named Richard and Jack Ehney both of South Carolina as well. I believe their father's name was Leon Ehney. My father was military at one point stationed in the philipeans. My father was married 3 times and had 5 girls. At least as far as we know. James Leanne, Jenni Lynn, Eugina Hope, Jamie Lee, and me, Megan Elizabeth. My fathers brothers and parents are all deceased now, so its very difficult for me to find the information im looking for. And I know a name like Ehney isn't as common as Smith or Jones. Im just wondering how or if all these Ehneys I keep stumbling on are related. And it seems all the people with the last name Ehney dont seem to know much about their family history, we all seem to be searching. Am I the only person that finds this strange? Anyway, please contact me with any information you may have that could help me. My email address is stormyraingoddess@yahoo.com thanks so much!

It looks like we are going down the same line. I show that Annie Estelle Eney was born the 4th of November 1869 to Summerfield and Jennie Eney. Summerfield and Jennie also had William Meeds Eney, Emma Jane Eney, Lulu Ellis Eney, Alever Sellman Eney, and Minnie Grace Eney. I also have details on who Summerfield was born to and when he was born.
I would love to hear the information you have, and I'll be happy to share what little I have on my end.

She had a younger brother named Washington I. Eney. Thank you for the information you posted about Washington I. Eney. This helps me in my search. I have a deep respect for all ancestors. If you wish or need information regarding Annie Estelle, I will be glad to share it. If you have any information regarding Annie (the name she used in a family bible) I would be very apprecdiative.
Thank You,
Karen

Kim,

I am trying to find information on my great great grandfather, Washington Irving Eney. So yes, a Washington Irving did exist back in the 1800s. Not certain, but he may have passed in 1884. He apparently was married to a woman named Lula. The two of them who had children. One of them being Grover Cleveland Eney. He was born 21 August 1883. Grover and his wife Augusta lived in Baltimore.
I believe Washington was born in Maryland based on reading Grover's info in the 1930 cencus.
I'm trying to trace the family tree as a father's day present.

Hi! I am in search of my father's family. His name is Paul Corbin Ehney. He was married to a Wanda Cochran, also to Katherine Kirsh, to a Philipino wife when he was in the U.S. Army, then to Corrine Wright, and then to Eva Quellette. I believe he has one daughter and two sons by his wife, Eva. My grandmother's name (on my father's side) was Margaret Anne Pennington. She was married to Ward Ehney who then adopted my father at the age of 13. I believe the names of the children are Paul Ehney, Jr., Sandy Ehney and Kenneth Ehney. I do not know if there are any siblings other than myself. If you have information, please contact me.

Looking for info about the name "eney" from the PA area. Wondering if maybe Eney is a different spelling of Ehney. Anyone with any info? My gggrandfather was Harry Elwood Eney, Sr. His father was supposedly George Washington Eney and GW had a brother named Washington Irving Eney. Do these names ring any bells? Also, supposed to have been a Louise von Hencke Eney who attended a ball for the Marquise de Lafayette. Anything ring any bells? THanks.
