My name is Andrey Roth Ehrenberg,

I realize that by now you weren't expecting a response, anyway, I am Brazilian, my grandfather was born in 1922, in germany, i'm not sure where, but it was for sure not in the south, also his name was Helmut Heinz Ehrenberg. I'm not sure about my grand grandfather either but I have the book of the family somewhere in my house, there has the register of births from 18xx til my grandfather. I'll take a look at it. and if you answer this I will write more.

I think that my grand grand father's name is Richard Ehrenberg (or that was his brother, I'm not sure)

I know for sure that my grand grandfather came to Sao Paulo- Brazil and lived here 'til his death with my grand-grandmother.

Targan Family of Philadelphia

I am trying to learn more about my family, including the branch from my maternal grandfather's sister, Eva Ehrenberg/Berg, and her husband Saul Targan. Eva emigrated from Elizavetgrader, Kirovograd, Ukraine in 1930. She may have come with her brother Morris and probably landed in Philadelphia. Saul came from Odessa, Russia, in 1907 via Montreal. Saul owned an automotive parts manufacturing company. The had three children, Mack, Len, Bill, and Sam. Sam married Sarah. I know that one of the sons had twin daughters.

If any of these people are in your family, please contact me.

Thanks.

Cheryl Lieberman
Hello,

I have Honigmanns in my family tree that go way back. I am not familiar with the name Ehrenberg in my tree, but I have been to Austria and have visited a castle Ehrenberg near Tirol...

Anyhow, my Honigmanns are in Grossoerner, which is just a stone's throw from Eisleben. Martha does not come up in my tree, but it doesn't mean we're not connected somehow. Would you happen to have any Zacharias Honigmanns in your tree? That seems to be a name that was passed down for a few generations...
I just checked the census and only found the name Morris Ehrenberg in the 1910 census in Chicago and 1920 in New York. The 1880 Census for Nebraska had nothing. There is no 1890 census. When was Morris living there and what area of Nebraska? Do you have any places & dates of birth or death? Nebraska birth & death records are closed and can only be gotten by family thru the state, and you had better be sure you know they are there as you will pay by the hour for a researcher.

There were 2 families, Carlton? and Hans (one from Russia & one from Prussia- part of Germany). Do you happen to know names of siblings of Morris or his parent's names?

A COUPLE OF THE EHRENBERG BROTHERS CHANGED THE SPELLING OF THE LAST NAME AS THEY WERE MEMBERS OF THE BUND IN BUFFALO IN THE LATE 1930S. THEY WERE AFRAID THAT "EHRENBERG" WOULD BE PERCEIVED AS THE JEWISH SPELLING OF THE LAST NAME WHEN ACTUALLY IT IS THE GERMAN SPELLING OF SEVERAL LOCATIONS IN GERMANY.
"EHRENBURG" IS THE JEWISH SPELLING.

IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW YOU SPELLED THE NAME. PETER EHRENBERG & HIS WIFE GERTRUD BERNS EMIGRATED TO LANCASTER, NY IN 1849 FROM SUD RECKLINGHAUSEN, WESTFALEN, PRUSSIA. THERE WAS A GREAT FAMINE IN GERMANY AT THAT TIME CAUSED BY A 10 YEAR DROUGHT. FORTUNATELY THEY HAD THE MONEY TO BRING ALL THEIR KIDS TO AMERICA ABOARD THE "AMERICA MEDORA" IN APRIL 1849. ONE OF THE CHILDREN, ELIZABETH, DIED WHILE CROSSING THE ATLANTIC.

KEEP IN TOUCH.

She's had quite a bit of information and it's been wonderful finding out about the Ehrenberg's.

My parents divorced when I was like 2 years old and I never met my Mom's side as they all live in another state. So, it's been fun finding out about the Ehrenberg's as they are my maternal Grandma's family.

I sent another e-mail not using this form, so just in case you didn't get it. John Ehrenberg lived in NE and was my husband's uncle. He and his wife (I think it was Eldora) lived in the Creighton NE area. He came from a large family, and his parents were Hans and Isabelle Ehrenberg. He has one brother living-Joseph, who lives on a farm with his wife, by Creighton. His mother, my husband's grandmother, lived her last years in Creighton with her son Russell Ehrenberg. John's great-niece, Carol, has done a lot of geneology, and has made an Ehrenberg book. She could give you accurate information. Carol's e-mail address is gengommer@inebraska.com I hope this helps. I hope you will send me a reply. Thanks.
I am searching for information on 2 Ehrenburg sisters who were born about 1850 in the area you mention. The aparent eldest was Amilia (Emilia) who married a man -last name of Hinze- and came to the US about 1884/5, the same time as her sister Johanna Louise Ehrenberg who married Gustave Emil Theodore Rose in 1881. Amilia Hinze had 6 children, one a daughter and Johanna had one son born in Germany. If you have any of these names, please let me know. Thank you, Rose.

Jen, I sent an email to you but am not certain you're still at that addy so I will post here and hope you're still checking this message board. John Ehrenberg was my great uncle. I have tons of Ehrenberg information on the descendants of Carsten Ehrenberg who was John's grandfather. This Ehrenberg family came from the Dithmarschen area of Schleswig/Holstein in Northern Germany. Carsten had no siblings other than an illegitimate half brother named Peter Winter. If you are still interested, please respond.

Henry's Mother, Bertha Janke and H. H. Ehrenberg came from Germany. Here is a lesson for all who are looking for relatives: Always keep track of all imf. you get.It is important. I saw on here in the u.s. departments genealogy and used soundex on ships list for naturalization and immagarants and found that great grandmother and Father was from Germany and went from germany to Ellis island. They were on the same ship(albeit met on the ship?) and I found they had different compartments and also found from talking to people in Pilot knob, that great grandmother's folks were merchants, in Pilot Knob. They were there when that terrible was (civil) went on.
