My grandparents names were Albert Ehrhardt And Mary(Mann-maiden name)Ehrhardt! Albert,my grandfather arrived in Chicago in the 1880's and lived near the present Hull House on Halsted St.! This is where my father was born and grew up with Benny goodman around what used to be called Maxwell street!my grandfather went back to fight in the 1st world war as his father insisted! My father was born in 1902 and he told his grandfather to go to hell as he was American,his grandfather disowned him! My father @ 15 lied about his age and joined the Navy in WW1,but caught the Spanish Flu in 1918,spent time in a French hospital to gain strength to return to the USA. The Spanish Flu,Great Depression,alcohol took a toll on his life and he died at the age of 47 in 1949 when I was six! He had a brother named Harold(older brother) 2 sisters Adele and Delores,Who lived around 7100 S vincennes,Chicago,Il.I retired from the Chgo Fire Dept. as a lieutenant in 1999 and wll be 68 on June 1st,2011!
