Thanks Jane,
I do know about Paul Ehrlich. Funnily enough one of his granddaughters married my younger son.
However the Ehrlich I am searching for is Jonas Ehrlich, who had a shop in Lviv before WW1.One of his sons was my grandfather. I have so far not found when or where Jonas was born or when or where he married. He died in 1915 in Vienna. His wife was Chaja Gitel Goldman, who seems to have been born in Cieszanow when?. She must have died before WW1.
Anyway thanks again for the reply
Eva

By now you've probably realized this, but at jewishgen.org you want to look at a different database - The Family Tree of the Jewish People (FTJP). This allows you to look at thousands of individual family trees. Many of these appear no where else on the internet.

Best,

Jane

You probably have the info you need by now. I believe that the name you are looking for is Agusta Huber. I found her listed with Charles and children that were born before he married Emma and then again, the children were listed with Charles and Emma after the marriage. I got this from a church book for the Princeton, NE cemetery.

Alexander and Peter Ehrlich from Grimm

I am trying to research the family of two brothers Alexander and Peter Ehrlich from Grimm who came to US and settled in NE and WY. Alex, b 1884, married Elizabeth Albrandt and they arrived with baby daughter Hermina "Minnie" on the Priz Oskar about 20 Aug1912, after leaving from Hamburg on 7 Aug 1912. They lived first in Cincinnati and had 3 children born there, and by 1920 lived next to brother Peter b 1871, and his wife Annie and may children farming in Gering, Scotts Bluff, NE. Peter appears to have come to US first about 1911 and lived in MT before NE.
Alexander's family moved to Torrington, WY where he died in 1937. Elizabeth soon remarried to Henry Eichhorn.
Anybody have an idea as to the brother's parent's? Did the family come from Germany prior to Russia? I see many Jewish Ehrlich histories, but this is not them. Thanks

There are 5 Jewish Ehrlichs listed in my book, The Naturalized Jews of the Grand Duchy of Posen in 1834 and 1835, Avotaynu, 2004 (http://www.avotaynu.com/books/posen.htm)

The only Ehrlich listed in the Posen high school database for Posen high schools was a Roman Catholic, probably from a family that converted.

For those who can read German, there are a considerable number of old magazine articles about the Ehrlich family of booksellers from Rogasen, Posen. The bookshop was quite famous, the more so because it was in such a small town.

Ehlrich from Russia

Dear Kathy,
I found only now your messages regarding the history of Ehlrich's. I live in Moscow, Russia & I had Ehlrich ancestors too, even if I was always told they were from Sweden. The eldest I know was Matthias Elhrich born in 1804 died 1880 buried in Saint Petersburg. Why I think he could probably have been Russian German from Volga region is because he had lived for a lot of time in Nizhnij Novgorod that is a city in the same Volga region. From his patronimic name (father's name we have like a part of our name) I know that the name of his father was Boris (probably is a Russian version of his name). He had 3 sons: Arthur (my great grandfather), Friedrich Wilhelm Woldemar and Carl-Fefil (from his 1st wife) and 2 daughters - Gertruda Constanzia and Olga Amalia (from his second wife Ioganna Caroline Helene Nathus). I believe also that their descandants could have been moved to US after the WW1.
Could you check if you can found a relation?
Thank you in advance!
Vera.

have just read your message My Grandfather Sigismund Ehrlich came to England early 1900's we have the same problem with the question of his true nationality all research to find his original place of birth have been fruitless. Unfortunately we have no paperwork or records to refer to - any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated. I am beginning to think I'll never find out the truth about him.

I would be interested to hear if you have come across his name in your research. Who knows we could be family!
Regards
Jane Ehrlich

Thank you for your quick reply. I was not familar with jewishgen.org but have reviewed the site and find that they only provide a list of contacts who are researching a particular surname and location. They apparently do not offer access to specific family trees for specific individuals (such as Dr. Ehrlich).

I have sent e-mails to all researchers who were listed for Ehrlich in Germany and Poland.

If I am misunderstanding this site, I would appreciate further enlightenment.

Thanks, Robert
