Hi bootig13, My name is Don. I just saw your message and thought I would reply . My uncle Artie, Arthur Vincent Eichen, was born on Nov. 12, 1911 in New York, He drive a truck for a bakery in Greenwich Village, down town in NY. I don't remember much about him as I was about 4-5 years old when I remember him and that was in about 1952. I do know that he had a lot of brothers and sisters but I don't think from the same mother. One of his brothers was Charles William who was born in 1915. With this said could this be the same Artie? If so haw are you connected? Who are your parent? I hope to hear from you. Thanks, Don

Looking for Eichen or Eickman in Kingdom of Hannover

Have a brick wall here. Looking for anyone who might know information regarding some land ownership. Trying to find why our family name Spellman was originally Lange. When a Clamor Lange first married the name was changed to Spellman but his wife's name was not Spellman. He married two more times but none of the wives were named Spellman. All of his children were born with the name Spellman. They lived at Harpenfeld 31 in Kingdom of Hannover near Osnabruck. Someone helping us research in Germany has come up with the name Johan unter der Eichen as also showing living at Harpenfeld 31 (this would have been in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Eichen was also sometimes Eickman. Does anyone have a clue? Thank you

Hi Tom,
My aunt's second husband was Arthur Eichen, b. Nov. 12, 1911, NY. What were were told was that he was one of 25 children. His parents were Geoege Eichen and Bella McClain. I was only able to find 9 other siplings in the NY 1930 census. They were: George b.1904, James b.1907, Mildred b.1910, Arthur (my uncle Artie) b.1911, Charles b.1915, Edward b.1916, Paula b.1921, john b.1922, Bessie, b.1924 and Ethel Wise, George and Bella granddaughter.
I think this ia a match. The birth date of your father is the same and the parents name are the same. You had her name as Isabella and in the 1930 census her name is nicknames as "Bella". And I got the her maden name from Arthur's SS Death Index.
I have a photo of my uncle artie. He was a tall man about 6'1" or so. If you have any other information of this family I would appreciate it, as for me too.
Thanks,
Don Sill
New York

If you know of any info that is about any Eichens please contact me. I was also told that there were 4 brothers who came through to America, befor 1890, because they killed some prince or other royalty. They were supposed to be from some place called Eichenburg in Austria. Hope we can connect. Is it proper to send an Email to you directly or ever regular mail? I have some pictures info I will be glad to share.
Always Mother Hubbard
