looking for information regarding Wilhelm Julius Gustav Eichstaedt who was born about 1858 in Prussia. He emigrated to New Zealand with his sister Emilie in 1874.
Being in the Ziegfield Follies was a total scandal in the family. The story is a sad one. It is said Jenny was putting on powder and her face was burned by acid that someone placed in the powder.. Some jealous person!!... Don't know if it is true but that is the story that was handed down.
Thanks for the information. It is too bad that you couldn't find a picture of the "Ziegfield Follies" girls, that would have been great. I still have an Uncle that is living in Florida (John & Bessie Dunczyk's son), and I am going to let him know that, I think he will get a kick out of it.

Dr. Jennie was an older sister of my grandmother, Helen Eichstaedt. Both daughters of Constantin Eichstaedt and Catherine Tesmer.
Also, if my memory is correct, Jeanette(Jenny) Dunczyk (sister of your grandfather John) was one of the "Ziegfield Follies" girls. We searched for a large photo of her when my grandparents died but it was no longer with all the other photos. We were really disappointed.

Hello Willi, I sure would like the address of the "Landesarchiv Greifswald Archives when you have time to send it to me. It's such a treat to communicate with someone form Germany. My Wellbrock family is also from Germany. We were there in 1998 and I got to meet distant family. It was an experience I'll never forget. They shared so much family information with me. My Wellbrocks are from the Bremervorde area. The Wellbrocks are my paternal side of the family and my Wellbrock grandfather married an Eichstadt. Greetings, Hazel

Dear Jo, The address for the Firberg Cementary is Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rt.3, Box 368, Fergus Falls, MN. I visited there 2 years ago and the Pastors name was Rev. William J. Stottlemyer. I'm sure he's still there. I have the listing form the Friberg cemerty and it does't list August as being buried there, but the obit says he was. Perhaps my listing is not complete.I would love a picture of your gr-grandmother. I do have alot of info on my grandmother (Emelie). It waould be easier for me to copy it and just send it via snail mail, if they will allow us to put our mailing address on this site. If not I,ll work on getting it to you this way. I would be inerested in any Eichstaedt info you have. My mailing address is 4704 Holm Rd. Oregon, WI. 53575 Sincerely Hazel Gaard

I was so trilled to hear drom you. Yes, I have often wondered if your Carl Eickstadt was related. My Carl Friedrich Eichstadt did have a son, born December 16, 1859 in Gramenz, Pommern, Germany. His name was Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Eichstadt also. I got this information from the Morman Church in Salt Lake City. I had them do a search for me for pay and they were able to trace my Eichstadt's back to 1795 in Germany. Sure wish we could make a connection with this family.
Hazel Gaard

Sorry to be so late in responding, but my husband and I were in Arizona for the winter and just got home a few days ago. Wilhelm Balfanz and Henriette Bulow would be my great, great grandparents. Their daughter, Caroline Henriette Balfanz was my greatgrandmother. She married Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Eichstadt. Happy to know she had a brother named August. Would there be a way for you to check and see if other children were born to this union? Hazel Wellbrock Gaard

Carl's obit states that he was born in "Pinnow, Germany" which I have not had any success with at all.

Carol (Eickstadt) Fowler

Among the surnames included as godparents for the children of Martin Eckstaedt and Ernestine Charlotte Baumann in my previous message were: Balfanz, Zickuhr, Belter, Lubke, Jahnke, Lassanske, Zick and Kroll besides the family names already listed.

M.
Martin Eckstaedt (27) married Ernestine Charlotte Baumann (24) 10 May 1796, Gramenz, Neustettin, Pommern. Son Michael Erdmann b 1797 married Anna Charlotte Hinz; son Christian Friedrich b 1798 married Henriette Hubner; daughter Hedwig Louise b 1801 married Friedrich Baumann; son Johann Martin b 1802 married Dorothea Charlotte Kopelk; daughter Marie Elisabeth b 1812 married Ludwig Abraham; son Michael Ernst b 1815 married Friedrike Henriette Krause. Four children did not survive childhood.
Can you tie into any of these names? If so, then we would be related. I descend from Michael Ernst who died in Gramenz in 1851.
I have information regarding Eichstadts, later Eichstaedt and Eickstaedt when they settled in Wisconsin. The family originated in Gramenz, Neustettin, Pommern. My gr-gr-gr-grandfather Martin (sometimes Johann Martin), married Charlotte Korn (sometimes Kornke) and they had a large family including Michael Ernst b 1815 (from whom I descend. He married Henriette Krause. All of their five children eventually came to America, the first was August Ferdinand (sometimes Ferdinand August) my gr-grandfather in 1867. Many settled in the Milwaukee area though they did spread out later.

If any of this fits your family info, I'd be happy to hear from you.

Marnie Krause

I have an Anton EICHSTAEDT getting his Minors final certificate of Naturalization on October 1884 STATE of ILLINOIS County of COOK. He married a Stella Nowicki. She died in 1935 and he died in 1964. They were both from Poland and they lived in Chicago. Anything on these people would be wonderful. PAT
