Hello,

This looks like a dormant thread, but I thought I would ask in case someone is monitoring.

I am just starting my research and am having trouble confirming the parents of John Hiram Eighmey born abt. 1866, probably in NY, but possibly in Pennsylvania (reports vary). I believe his parents to be Daniel Eighmey (b. 1828)and Elizabeth Eighmey (Dimmick, b. 1824)m. 1852 originally from NY, later residence of OH, returning to NY. John Hiram Eighmey is father to my grandfather Paul William Eighmey 1908-1959. I cannot confirm that the John Eighmey listed in the 1880 census as child of Daniel is the same person as middle names are not listed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jim Eighmey

I also have a Barnet(t) Eighmey b. 1784 in my family line. He was the one of the sons of Philip Emigh Jr. I am trying to find the connection between Philip Jr and Henry P. Eighmey through one of those sons. It seems that the spelling change happened in Barnet's generation, at least in my mother's research notes. If you have been able to find anything else since your original post, could you let me know?

I've found some research my mother had done in the 1970s. I can trace David T back up to Henry P Eighmey b. 1820. He is in some way connected to Philip Emigh Jr b. 1749, who married Polly Demill (DeMilt, DeMille); (probably a grandson) but I don't have that connection in my records. Philip Emigh Jr was a son of the Philip Emigh b 1713 whose parents came from Germany. I have a list of children of Philip Jr: Benjamin, Philip (III?), Benson, Elias, Barnet, and Mainard (plus 3 daughters). I don't know which of these would be Henry P Eighmey's father. From my mother's records it seems that the spelling change from Emigh to Eighmey happened in that generation.

Anyone know anything? Thanks!
I know there are a lot of Eighmeys from New York, but I can't see to connect him to anyone. I think his father might have been George W. Does anyone have some leads for me?

I am trying to identify the second (2) husband of Katherine (MAXWELL / MAXON) NICHOLS AMA (EIGHMEY?).
In the 1850 census of Spring township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, William H. Nichols, age 19, Samuel N. (Simon?) Nichols, age 14, and J. W. Nichols, age 9, natives of Pennsylvania, were enumerated with Catharine Ama, age 50, native of New York.8 Catharine's age certainly agrees with the age category of the woman in the 1840 census. The surname Ama may have been the surname of her second husband.
Who was her second husband? What happened to him and Katherine? She disappears from the census after 1850.

The only Barnett I have is from the early 1800s. Surely there must be a connection between your family and mine since my line originated in New York too. I would be happy to exchange notes if you are interested. I have amassed a great deal of information and perhaps I could add new data for your search.
Try searching under Nellie Eighmy. There is a fair amount of info on Nellie on another forum. Here's a sample: " Nellie was born 1 May 1876, and was the illegitimate daughter of Adella WRIGHT, and an unknown VAN EVERY. Adella was the daughter of Darius and Ellen (MARSH) WRIGHT. Since Adella was unmarried, she gave the baby (Nellie) to her older married sister Lucy R.(WRIGHT), and her husband Peter EIGHMEY." Since I am an Eighmy I have some additional info should you hit a brick wall, let me know. Good hunting, Cliff
Hello. I am looking for any information on Barnet(t) Leroy(this could be spelled differently) Eighmey. I know he was born in upstate New York or possibly a town in Canada near the New York Border. Possibly born in the 1930's. He married Lynda Elanor(e) Smith in appx. 1957-58. He might have been in the milartary at this time, maybe the military police. Any information on his life or his children from other marriages would be greatly appreciated. I basically just want to know about him and his life. Please e-mail me at stevebeach@home.com with any information. Thank you.
