Calling all EIGHTEENs
Hi there. EIGHTEEN was my maternal great grandmother's maiden name and from my family history research, I have started an unofficial one name study of the surname, to try to get to the bottom of its origins.
I am interested in all EIGHTEENs - those who became one through marriage and those who became another name after marriage. My family originated from Hadleigh, Suffolk, UK - possibly from the 1600's - if EIGHTEEN is a "modern" corruption of AYTON or AITON. From Hadleigh, my branch of this large family travelled to Reading, Berkshire in the 1870's and from the 1920's onwards, the family then took different roads in life - mine to Dorset, others to Scotland, Canada and who knows.
I would love to heard from you, all details however big or small appreciated.
Good luck hunting,
Julie Williamson
