AKRON – Homegoing services will be held for District Missionary Florida B. Ellis, 63, on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at St. Ashworth Temple COGIC, 1086 Wooster Ave. in Akron. She went home to be with the Lord on Saturday after an illness at Akron City Hospital.

A native of Mississippi, Florida, is the daughter of the late Elbert and Beatrice Eiland.

She graduated from Youngstown North High School, earning a BA Degree in French/Spanish from Youngstown State University, and a Master Equivalency in Information Technology from the University of Akron.

She was a PTA Advisor/president, earning the Shinning Apple Award and State PTA Award.
She worked in the Akron Public Schools as a secretary and teacher. She retired as a Central Hower High School Social Studies teacher.

A member of the Church of God in Christ, Florida was Barberton District Missionary and member of the St. James COGIC of Youngstown and the Greater Holy Trinity COGIC of Akron. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.

Dist. Miss. Ellis is survived by her husband of 38 years, William R. Ellis Jr; daughters, Mrs. Anitra (Ransford) Bailey and Miss Chantee Ellis; grandchildren, Ransford Jr., Jamine, Amira and Juallyn Bailey; beloved Aunt Bennie Sullivan; siblings, Elbert ( Mary) Eiland Jr., Ralph Eiland, Lynette Eiland, Eddie (Gina) Eiland, Delphine (Earl) Lee, Eric Eiland, Audrey Eiland, Jennifer Eiland and India Eiland; stepsisters and brother, Lynn Herren, Michelle Love, Cecil Monroe and Jill Monroe; sisters-in-law, Valanta Brown and Rhetta Williams; brother-in-law, Carlton (Danielle) Ellis; beloved Aunt Dorothy Sutherland; special caregiver, Whitley Eiland; and host of other cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

Homegoing services will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Ashworth Temple C.O.G.I.C. 1086 V. Odom Blvd., Akron, OHIO 44307, Supt. Clarence Jackson officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Peace Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
