Hi Wayne,
So nice to hear from you.
Thank you for that information. That is really interesting.

Cousin Helen Starr was my father's 1st cousin. Her mother
and my father's father (Elmer Hamilton Einwechter) were
sister and brother.

How is cousin Helen. I believe we met you a couple years
ago in Brigantine when we visited.

I would love to visit Helen again if at all possible.

Give her my love.

**I have visited the graves of some of the Einwechters
going back to about 1837.

I will give you my phone number if you want to contact me.

Cousin Eleanor Einwechter Anderson

Hi Eleanor, I recently visited my aunt, 92-year-old Helen Starr Lynch (she lives in her own home with nursing assistants). I asked her again about Martha Hamilton--the Quaker who participated in the underground railroad. My aunt said that Martha Hamilton was the maternal grandmother of her mom--Helen Einwechter Starr--who you knew as Aunt Helen or Aunt Nellie) . Also, she said, Martha Hamilton (maiden name not known) was the wife of Ian Hamilton--and that Martha and Ian Hamilton were the parents of Ellen Hamilton Einwechter, the wife of George Phillip Einwechter.
Take care, Wayne

Hi, Laura Lyne. My mother's mother was Marie Einwechter, son of John Andrew Einwechter and his 2nd wife Lida Parker. I have been in touch with the Missouri Reillys and got so much of the family tree from her and her connections.
I am adding you to my tree. Will you please contact me at phainesparis@aol.com so I can get some other info and not post details? Thanks.
Hi Laura, I was just googling different family names when I came across your post. I can fill in a little bit for you. During the same time period that your dad used to visit Elmer Einwechter (I'm now 61), Elmer (I called him "Uncle El") used to visit his sister(my maternal grandmother)in Brigantine, New Jersey. Her birth name was Ellie Einwechter, but she didn't like the name Ellie so she changed it to Helen. She married my maternal grandfather,William Starr, and they had two daughers, my mother Ruth Starr Neuterman and her sister Helen Starr Lynch(now age 91). Ruth had four kids,my brothers Mike and Bill and I and our half-sister Pat.
"Ellie" was born in 1894. Her parents were George Philip Einwechter and Ellen Hamilton Einwechter. I remember her mentioning that she also had a brother George and a sister named Edith. I think there were more siblings, but I don't remember for sure. Her brother Elmer had a son named Raymond Einwechter, who married Terry (don't know her maiden name). They had a son, Raymond Jr. and daughters Terry, Sue, and Kathy. Raymond Jr (R.J.)still lives in Philadelphia.
Anecdotal info from my grandmother: She said that her father, George Philip Einwechter, was a Philadelphia architect and that he constructed a mint in Phildelphia; also, that there was some distant relationship in the family to Alexander Hamilton; also, that there was a Martha or Mary Hamilton, a Quaker, who participated in the underground railroad, allowing escaped slaves to stay at her place in Pennsyvania as they fled to safety. I have no way of knowing if these accounts are accurate, but she definitely believed them. Take care, (Lewis)Wayne Neuterman

Hello Jane-

It is wonderfulto hear from you. At the moment I am away from home visting with a friend- however I did want to let you know that I did get your e-mail and I will be contacting you soon with more information (what information I have. I can tell you that the family tree is now in the possesion of Selena Einwechter, my Grandfathers youngest daughter, and I had requested a coy of it some time ago, but since I have not recieved it yet, I will need to ask again. I saw the actual book when I was 9 and it was very detailed and concise. My Great Aunt Dorthory, M(my gradfathers sister) had everyone related to us in it. She even found cousins in Southern California that ew didn't even know about when she was out visiting all those years ago. Thank you for contacting me. I will contact you as soon as I able. I have recently moved to Northern California, and as I live in the middle of the Redwoods I need to get Satelite Internet which is going to take a few more more weeks.
Laura

Hi Laura,
I am the cousin from Jefferson City, Missouri (not Independence) who sent the family information to Eleanor Einwechter Anderson. I am descended from George Einwechter and Elizabeth Reilly of Philadelphia. George Einwechter was born 1829 in PA; Elizabeth Reilly was born 1830 in England of Irish parents. George and Elizabeth were married in Philadelphia about 1853. Their children were: George Einwechter, Jr. born abt. 1853; Elizabeth A. born 1855; John A. born 1859; and Mary Einwechter born 1863.

I have corresponded with Richard Einwechter of New Jersey since the year 2000 and Richard shared much information with me on the Einwechter family. My connection is through Elizabeth Reilly, wife of George Einwechter.

Your grandfather Augustus Thomas Einwechter was the son of George P. Einwechter and Augusta Thompson. George P. Einwechter's parents were George Phillip and Ellen Hamilton Einwechter. George Phillip was the son of George and Elizabeth Reilly Einwechter.

I would be very interested in the family history compiled by your aunt Dot.
Wow - I forgot about this post

My name is Laura Lyne Einwechter, my married name is Miller, but I am in the process right now of changing it back to my maiden name. I was the one who started this post back in 2001. Quite frankly I forgot about it, but for some reason this evening I searched on Google for Einwechters in Germany and found my post. I am suprized there were responses!

My Grandfather was Augusta T. Einwechter, his sister's name was Dorthy Einwechter, my great Aunt Dot.

My grandfather lived in Tampa, Fl , as well as my aunt Dot. He had 5 children.

Harry Dean - (my dad) -living in Glendale, Ca
Sandra - Deceased 12-05
John - living in Whichita Falls, Tx
Ann - same
Selena - Tallahassee Area of Florida

My father remembers spending time visiting realtives in the Philidelphia area when he was a child. he is now 62. The Elmer Einwechter's he believes were his Uncle and Cousin, although I am not sure of the connection.

We have distant cousins living in Southern California from the Hamilton side of the family,

Judy Lee Paxton, and her daughters
Doris Annie
Laura

We discovered this from Aunt Dot who had our family tree. She once worked for John F. Kennedy during his presidency and she had I assumed created the family tree with the resources that had been available to her.

Selena now has a married name. Our last communication with her was after my Grandfather had passed away some 13 years ago. However, John Einwechter, my uncle living in Texas, would know how to get a hold of her.

I have 3 sons,
James Marshall Einwechter - 23 -who was adopted by my uncle John - h is living with John in Texas.
David Lee Einwechter - who will be turning 20 in August - He is in Iraq right now serving in military intelligence for the Army
Thomas Joseph Mello - who is turning 12 in April

My son David has found 3 other Einwechter children on myspace.com - Caleb Einwechter, Josh Eimwechter, and Joshua Einwechter.
Josh and his brother David had a christian band some years back and now Josh has a band called "The Watchmen"

I think it wonderful that so many Einwechter are "popping out of the woodwork" so to speak, as a child I thought the only Einwechters that exsisted were the immediate family.

I can try to see if I can get a hold of the family again, I asked my cousin Karen (sandra's daughter) since she is close to Selena if she could get a copy of it for me from her, but I have lost touch with Karen as of late. Sandra also had a son whose name is Kevin Naughton, his father's name was Dave Naughton.

It is wonderful to communicate with you and I hope that we can keep in touch.
Laura Lyne
