Aside from a difference in names, which can easily be distorted as they are handed down through families or transcribed improperly in records, I do believe we have the same family and that Joseph was born 4 Oct 1820 in Forbach, Moselle, France, the son of Jean EIS and Anna Elizabeth GREFF.

I welcome the opportunity to correct my records and share with you what several of us have gleaned from French records. I'm also looking to verify that the John EIS found living in the 5th Ward of Dayton close to Joseph was his brother, Jean EIS b 1 May 1815.
