Re: John and Lucy Walker Eisele, Altoona Pa.

Hi John and Lucy,

My name is Christopher Eisele Cook and I was raised in Toledo, Ohio and born to David Eisele Cook in 1966. I noted in your Google heading that there were Eisele's in and around the Akron area and, interestingly, my grandmother, Helen Louise Eisele, was raised in Cuyahoga County very near Cleveland and she too had an extensive family. I am somewhat certain she also had sisters Mayme and Tillie and will check tonight when I get home. But the dates in the early 1900's seem to line up with your husband's grandfather's date of birth. My grandmother married Tracy George Cook and moved their homestead to Toledo in the early twenties at which point my father was born in 1924. I have very extensive background information dating all the way back to 1862 when Isabelle Eisele (my young daughter's name now) was the first generation of Eisele's to be born in the US. If you would like to see this lineage tree please just drop me a reply note with your address and I will make a copy and be happy to send it to you. We have had some rather dilligent chronologers in the family over time and the tree that I have is quite expansive. In my case Isabelle Eisele of 1862 married one of my ancestors on the Cook side who had just arrived in the US from Ireland (County Donegal) in the early 1860's and that staretd the five generation old roster of the American Eisele-Cook tree.

I would be delighted to forward this info to you if you care to see it. Please let me know.

All the best,

Chris Cook
Milwaukee, WI

BTW, my brother lives in Bedford, PA--not far from you.

D. Blackwell,
My g. grandfather was Anton Eisele (b. 1889 Erdevik?, d.1918 WI.) Anton's parents were Adam Eisele, died 1928 in Erdevik, Yugoslavia, married to Theresia Endes (born 1864 in Gajdobra,Yugosl.) Adam Eisele's family was from Germany (I don't have my records with me). It looks like some of the same names being passed down as in yours? Wonder if Adam is connected into your tree-maybe a son of August Anton?
Thank you, Tom
No, not the same. But maybe they have the same origin. In former years people did not care of writing their name correctly - as far as they _could_ read or write. But reading all the different postinges here it seems also living people do not care of writing the correct names - that makes genealogy more difficult as neccessary . . . Nevertheless I found that many (most?) of the living Eissler are connected to one large clan - maybe your EISERLE fit into this family. Do you have more info about your ancestors? Would like to compare them with my names and dates. Best wishes. Hanno.

Hello, as a hobby genealogist I am searching the Eissler family worldwide for more than 230 years, and I am very interested in knowing more about your research - especially about the name Eissler. Note that in former years the names are written just as people pronounce because most of them could not read or write. This is why there are several variations of spelling the name to be found in the old records. By now I found more than 30 different variations! Eissler / Eißler / Eiszler / Eisler / Eyssler / Eyßler / Eysler / Eihsler /
Eislin / Eiselin / Eislein (?)/
Aissler / Aißler / Aisler / Ayssler / Ayßler / Aysler/

Not sure if there are connections to Eissler:
Eisele / Eiseler / Eiseley / Esler / Essler/
Iseler / Isler / Isley / Isely /Yselin / Yslin / Ysslin/
Isler / Issler / Iszler / Iszlar / Izler / Izlar / Ißler/
Easley (?) / Easler (?)/

For learning more about my Eissler research please, use the search form here and look for "Eissler". . . .
Hello Tom,

I'm afraid a struck out. The Rotenfels films only cover intermittent periods, and do not list baptisms in 1829. They start again with 1831, but do not list Ignatz Eisele in that year.

Eiserle is Austria-Hungary surname

Hi Jim and Elizabeth,
Actually, Eiserle is Austria-Hungary surname.
Austria-Hungary the Dual Monarchy established in 1867, consisting of what are now Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina, and parts of Poland, Romania, Ukraine, and Italy. The empire was broken up after World War I.
So our parents emigrated from Austria-Hungary to USA during World War I.
My great grand father called Andre Eiserle. He had two brothers. One of his brothers had a little meat-processing factory.

Yours sincerely,
Marina Eiserle
Jacob Eisele

I have some conflicting info, here is what I do know-
George H. Long and a Cahtarine E. had children (4 boys and 1 girl). At least two of the boys had middle names of Eisle which according to the family Bible was Catharine’s maiden name. The US Census 1880, Ohio, Montgomery Co., Germantown Pg 53 list a George H. Long and Wife Catharine E. (age 24) with a Son Warren E. (oh joy, that’s my Warren). The 1900 Cenus, Ohio, Montgomery Co., Miami Township further confirms that George and Catharine are the correct line because it shows all 5 kids. Anyway, the Census also shows that she was born in Ohio and her parents Baden.
The US Census 1870, Ohio, Montgomery Co., German Township, Pg 19 shows a Jacob Eisle (that is followed by what might be Zan or Jun ?) age 40 born in Baden and wife Elizabeth age 33 born in Baden with a Catharine age 14 born in Ohio. Sure does seem thats my Catharine.
That all I am sure of. Any help is appreciated.
