Eiseman, Germany to Georgia

This will update my posting of 2000 with new information.

This Eiseman family came from Iffezheim, Baden, Germany. Alois Eisenmann and his wife Hedwig (Jakob) Eisenmann emigrated to America. They sailed from LeHavre and arrived at the port of Boston July 29, 1840. Traveling with Alois and Hedwig were three children: Benjamin Aliece (born Aug. 22, 1839); Rosanna "Rosey" (born Aug. 27, 1834); and Anselm (male, age 9 in 1840. This is the only record found so far of Anselm.).

Alois Eisenmann was born in 1803 in Germany (location unknown, possibly Bavaria, possibly Iffezheim). Hedwig Jakob was born Oct. 17 (1803 or 1805) in Iffezheim, Baden, Germany. Alois and Hedwig were married in a Catholic ceremony in Iffezheim.

The Jakob family were/are long time residents of Iffezheim. Hedwig Jakob had four siblings: Simon (born Oct. 29, 1802 in Iffezheim, later emigrated to America); Damien (born Sept. 27, 1800, later emigrated to America); Caecelia (born Feb. 6, 1796, remaind in Germany); and Maria Anna (born Jan. 29, 1789, remained in Germany). Damien Jakob's first wife was Edelberg/Edelburg Eisenmann (possibly somehow related to my Eisenmann family) from nearby Hugelssheim, Baden, Germany. They were married Aug. 16, 1825 in Hugelsheim. She died in 1840 and Damien married Christina Schneider on April 27, 1842.

In America the name was changed to Eiseman (and various misspellings). In the 1850 Census the Eiseman family are living on the farm of Simon Jakob/Jacob in Georgia as tenant farmers. By the 1860 Census the Simon Jakob/Jacob family has moved to Alabama and all of the Eisemans we have been able to account for had remained in Georgia.

I am searching for any information on the family of Alois Eisenmann, his ancestors, any Eisenmann family members who remained in Germany or traveled to other locations, and information about their descendants. I know only about the descendants of Alois Eisenmann in America.

Andy Eiseman

I know of small box of momentos that were in a bigger box of things purchased at an estate auction. These momentos contain wedding notices clipped from newspapers, engraved wedding napkins, child's artwork and unopened letters to Santa, clippings, etc. They seem to have belonged to Barbara Ann Eiseman or her mother or father, Harold Eiseman who worked for Lane Wells Co. in the oil industry in Perry OK

I would like to pass along these items to someone who could use them or locate a family member who would like to have them. Most are dated in the mid-1950s.

I found a book at a book fair, Florence (M. or W.) Eiseman, June 8, 1894. There is a Florence in the 1900 census age 15 with parents David and Aurelia, siblings Etta, Helen, David, Richard, and Alice. It is not likely she signed it herself at age 9 as the handwriting is too mature. but this is the only Florence I could find around that time period. If any family member would be interested in this old book, please contact me.

Looking for ancestors of Benjamin, Jacob, Rose and Elizabeth Eiseman. Parents names were ? Eiseman and Harriet Jacobs. Both were born in Prussia and died in Georgia.

Rose "Rosey" Eiseman (b. Aug. 27, 1834 in Prussia, d. Nov. 24, 1899 in Acworth, Cobb County, GA). She married Ewell Elliott (b. April 1829 in Jackson County, GA, d. 1902 in Fulton County, GA). Rose is buried in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Cobb County, GA.

Benjamin Aliece Eiseman (b. Aug. 22, 1839 in Prussia, d. July 4, 1904 in Acworth, Cobb County, GA). He married M. Lucretia "Lou" Cullinan(e) in Bartow County, GA, on Feb. 13, 1873. They owned a farm in Acworth, GA, and are buried in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Acworth, Cobb County, GA.

Jacob Eiseman (b. July 26, 1842 in GA, d. March 13, 1920 in Atlanta, GA). She never married.) Believe Elizabeth is buried in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Cobb County, GA.

We have great deal of information on Rose, Benjamin, Jacob and Elizabeth. We have nothing on their parents or ancestors other than what is listed above. The parents may have come to Georgia from or through Virginia, but that is just a possible recollection with no supporting data. Do not know where they landed in America or if father ?, mother Harriet, Rose and Benjamin all arrived together from Europe. Do not know from what European port they sailed, or if they already had relatives or friends waiting in America.

Andy Eiseman
aeis585226@aol.com
