Sarah Eisen b. 1893 in "Russia" married my great uncle, Hyman Resnick, in 1921. They lived in Chicago. Hyman had lived in Manchester, Eng. for five years and fought in WWI as a Royal Fusilier. He was an active Zionist. Their children, Isadore and Penina, both died young. Hyman died in 1950. Sarah lived in Israel and died there in 1964. She used to come back for visits to Chicago and Los Angeles, and collected clothing for the children in Israel. Does she sound like Max's sister?
Thank you!
Linda Wolfe Kelley

Hello, Holly! Sarah Eisen b. 1893 in "Russia" came to the U.S. in 1913, married Hyman Resnick in 1921. They lived in Chicago. They had Isadore in 1922, who died in 1924. They had Paulina/Penina in 1925; she died in 1945. Hyman was a Zionist; I don't know if he went to Israel. Sarah moved to Israel; she died there in 1964. Hyman, my great uncle, was b. in 1884 in Latvia. In about 1900 he went to Manchester, Eng. and lived there about five years. He sailed back and forth to the U.S. and made sure the siblings and parents were safe in Chicago. He fought in WWI with the Royal Fusiliers. He died in Chicago in 1950. I don't know anything about Sarah's family! Could she have been Max's sister? Thank you! Linda Wolfe Kelley

I am also researching Eisens. My great grandmother was Louise Eisen (b: 1876 Germany). She emmigrated to the US in 1883 with her mother Wilhelmine (Mesiel)(b: 1852 d:1893 Boston) and siblings (her father was Julius Eisen (d:1892 Boston). She married John Martin Luippold (b: 1873, d:1970) in Boston in 1896.

I am researching the family of Benjamin Eisen who was born 1879 in Galicia in what is now Lviv, Ukraine. The city of Lviv has also been known as Lvov Poland and Lemberg Austria depending on which nation ruled at the time. His parents were Herman (Chaim) Eisen and Dora (Dwore) Entmacher Eisen. Benjamin immigrated to New York City in 1906 or 1907. His native language was Polish and Yiddish. Does this match your research?

Looking for relative from Tyczyn - DIFFICULT!!! : Markus Eisen

My grandfather, Markus Eisen, came to the U.S. from Tyczyn, Poland, in 1913. He left behind a sister, Hene, who later married and had a son. We do not know her married name, or the name of the son, but he did manage to get to Israel sometime in the 1930s. He was located by a friend of my grandfather after the war, but he never wrote to my grandfather or answered his letter. My grandparents died in the late 80s and early 90s, so I have little information. Besides my grandfather, his uncle, this man had an Uncle Moses in Vienna, an aunt Ruchel in Paris who owned a pension, another uncle, possibly named Jacob who lived in Nagyvarad, Hungary, and possibly some relatives from my great-grandfather's first marriage, which we know existed, but have o information on at all. There was also an aunt who died at a young age, possibly named Elyse or some derivative of that name. I do not know how old this man would be, or whether he is still alive, but he may have a family of his own. Is there any way of searching arrivals in Israel from Tyczyn during that period? Does anyone out there know of someone from Tyczyn who might be our relative??? Leslie Weinberg

The info I have on her is from ship passenger records - she came to the US on 25 Oct 1883 on the Saint Germain, sailing from Havre (France?).
She traveled with her mother Wilnelmine (b:1852), Fanny (b:1877), Sophie (b:1879) and Elise ( 10 mos old).

Searching for Meir Eisen. He married Hannah (don't know the last name) in probably Poland. They did not make it to the United States. The Nazis got to them first. One of their sons, Juda(h) Eisen came to the U.S. and married first Sarah (unknown last name), then Ida Grossman. Juda(h) and Sarah had three children: Nettie, Jack and Louis. Juda and Sara divorced and Juda then married Ida Grossman.

When Juda(h) came to the U.S. his last name was changed to Laskowitz, and in later years he and all his children had the name shortened to Lasky. Juda and Ida resided in the Denver, CO area for quite some time, and are buried in California.

Any information/assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Seeking info on Judah Eisen from Galicia, Poland; Ida Grossman, also from Poland. They came to the United States about 1883, separately. Judah Eisen stayed in new York City for awhile, then went to Denver where he met and married Ida Grossman. When Juda Eisen came through the immigration authorities, he gave the name of Laskowitz as a relative living in the U.S. The immigration authorities then gave him the name of Laskowitz, which he kept for many years. Juda and Ida had several children, most of them boys. Moses and Samuel are two. The boys had their name legally changed to Lasky by the County Court, Denver, CO., February 3, 1922. Order #29527.

My grandfather was forced to fight in WW2 and lost track of his children and his wife. He later remarried. Right before his death we found this out. I would really like to find these children if they are still living. I have no clue of his first wife's name or any of the children. They would probally be between 60-70 maybe older now. I'm not even sure where in Germany they were born. My grandfather's name is Kurt Eisen. Please help me with any info you may have.
Thank you.
Cathy

In his obituary an H J Eisen was given as the person who notified the cemetary in Zanesville, Ohio where Michael is buried. I wondered if either of these names show up on your tree anywhere. Thank you.

I am researching my family tree and one of the branches is Eisen. Unfortunately I don't know much about the Eisens. My great-great-grandfather was Charles John Eisen. I have been told that he came from Germany when he was 3 years old. His parents were Charles Sylvester (Jewish) and Henrietta from Poland. He had a sister Clera (not sure about spelling), she had a son named Max. Clera and Max lived in New York.

Charles married Agnes Devine, they had three daughters and one son; Kathryn, Helen, Ursula, and Jarlath. Jarlath died within two years of his life. The three sisters all married and I have limited information on them, but I do have possiable contacts for information.

Craig,
Sometimes it helps to know about the others, so that you can rule things out about your own. One of the things that "my Maxie" did in his life was to organize the Jewish butchers in Chicago. So, if/when you come across that piece of info, you will know it is not your grandfather.
I am just starting my Eisen branch of the family tree. I have very little information to go on and am having NO luck finding any more. I'm hoping you can help.
Mr Great-greatGrandfather is Michael Eisen born in Germany in 1820. I'm not sure when he came to America. He died in 1896 in Fairmount, IN and is buried at Greenwood Cemetary in Zanesville, Ohio. His wife is Eva Magdalena who was born in 1819 and died in 1886. She is also buried at Greenwood Cemetary in Zanesville, Ohio. I do not know when they were married or where. They had four children. Anna Marie who was married to Christian Godfrey Mautz who are my great-grandparents. Anna was born 1855-1855 and died in 1940 in Zanesville, Ohio. The 1900 census says she was born in Ohio. There were two other daughters and one son born to Michael and Eva M. Eisen. One daughter married a Mr. Norcross as a second husband.
If any of this shows up on your tree I would appreciate an email from you. My email is Lincar72@aol.com Please put the Eisen name in the subject line so I don't inadvertantly delete your message.
Thank you with much appreciation.
Linda Mautz Carter
