Phillip Eisenach, Liberty Township, Washington, Ohio

I am searching for information on Phillip Eisenach who may have been the first husband of my Great Great Grandmother Caroline (later married to Jacob Schneider/Snyder my Great Great Grandfather). Believe Phillip and Caroline had three children, John, Catherine and Margaret. They are shown in the 1870 Federal Census living with Jacob and Caroline Scneider along with my Great Grandfather Peter Schneider. I believe that Phillip served in the 1 Ohio Light Artillary in the Civil War (entered in the records as Phillip Ismaugh and that he was killed at Port Republic on 9 Jun 1862. Any information would be appreciated and will be glad to share what info I have.

Sheila,
Sorry to take so long to reply. Lucretia's Maiden name was Vanamen. She is the daughter of Elias and Lydia Vanamen. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find out what happened to her parents between 1860 when they are listed in the Marshall Co VA census with a daughter named Cretia who would be Lucretia and 1870 when she is living with the Ravencrafts. Her marriage certificate says she was married at Richard Ravenscrafts. Richard Ravenscraft's will, probated on 3/30/1880 lists the following devisees: Elizabeth (wife), Lucinda Jane Eiseneigh (Daughter) and Mary Arnold(Sister) It looks as though she was regarded as a dughter by the Ravenscrafts, but I have been unable to find any record of formal adoption.

Hi Cheryl. I am MeLissa's sister. Unfortunately, she passed away Oct. of 2006. The Lucretia you are looking for was married to John Eisennach, the brother of my g grandfather, Charles Eisennach. The confusion comes because they spelled their name in many ways. Some of the fault lies with the census takers. Conrad was the father of John and Charles. His wife was Mary, daughter of a Conrad. I may have his surname in my papers but they are in the basement as I have recently moved from Texas to Colorado. Lucretia lived with a Robert Ravenscraft or Ravenscroft family in Marshall County WVA. On the census, her last name was Vanamen. It may be that the wife had been married before. Please feel free to write me at sdugosh@hotmail.com. I may have other information. Sheila Bayha Dugosh

Looking for anyone with ties to the Robertson, Comer & Eisenach families in the Wheeling/McMechon, WV area. I've got a good bit of info for these families. Despite the poor record keeping of the late 1800's/early 1900's, I was able to trace (pretty accurately) the families back to about 1850. I have too much to even begin to post here, including death certificates and census reports. Anyone interested email me at ThomasRobertsonII@yahoo.com. Would be cool to hear from anyone in these families.

I'm looking for any info on Caroline Eisenach. Census 1880 records show she was born in Michigan, yet her parents weren't...they were born in Germany.

Caroline married a John L. Herrick (who was from Germany as were his parents, and I suspect Herrick is a transformed name).
Caroline and John had five sons.

Also in the 1880 census, it shows perhaps her two brothers also living on the same street.
George Eisenach ~1844 birth year
William Eisenach ~1847 birth year

Any connections of family for these two brothers would also be helpful.

Kelley

One thing that I forgot to include in my response to your message. The Peter Comer that I have in my family tree would probably have been born sometime around 1900 (my grandmother having been born in 1901, and he was a sibling of hers) But I am curious about the name, possibly (being that he was born around 1860) he might have been Martin's father, uncle or some other relation.

Unfortunately, all I have is the name of my great grandmother Elizabeth and great grandfather Martin Comer. I do have their children's names of Irene (my grandmother Mrs. Adrian) Norton, Peter Comer, Nell (Mrs. Joseph) Duffy, Catherine (Mrs. Charles) Frazier, Lillian (who was apparently married 3 times, once to Henry Winters, once to a man with a last name Reinbeau and once to Harry Waterscheid) and Paul Comer. It is funny that you mention Youngstown, Ohio. I currently live in Warren. Although I have never been told of any other family who relocated to this area at any time in the past (except 1 cousin who moved up here long after my parents did). It is pretty interesting coincidence though, that the surnames and places are so similar!

Re: Elizabeth Eisenach (Eisenoch?), West Virginia

I am still in the very early stages of researching my Eisenach ancesters, but I have done some research at the Ohio County Courthouse(which is in Wheeling). I do have written down that there is a marriage record between a Lizzie Eisenach and a Peter J Comer on Nov. 25 1897. She was 19 at the time, born in Ohio County. He was 37, Born in Wheeling. Unfortunately, the marriage record does not list the parents names, and I have been unable to find the birth record. The marriage record does state "consent given by Lucretia Eisenach" but I don't know if Lucretia was her mother. Lucretia and her husband John are who I am trying to track, but I'm not having much success. I don't know if this will be of any help, but I hope so. If you would like I can send you what I have, but much of it is unconfirmed as of now.

Anna Maria, Hugo was Louis' brother. Sue & I are not that far removed from your part of the family! I have been gone from Germany for 2 years now. I miss it DEARLY, but I do NOT miss the Army there! I did 6 months in Bosnia, and was gone basically for 15 months! Found out AFTER we left Germany that my grandmother's family the Kleinheinz came from Wildflecken which was right up the autobahn from Bad Kissingen where we lived. I trained there several times. Did get to EIsenach twice though. Worked in Schweinfurt. Went to Wurzburg often. Bamberg from time to time. Of course Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels. I miss Germany VERY much. Maybe I will get to go back in the next 8 years. SML

Dora Eisenach Gideon...Bertha's cousin, did a complete family tree on a 6 month visit to Germany around 1950...my half sister lost the only copy about 20 years ago...the tree contained Royalty dating back to Charlmagne...Our family hid Martin Luther from the Catholics...our family Castle is now the Wartburg Museum...not far from the city of Eisenach...Bertha married Herman Brown of Duluth Minnesota...born in 1841 in Sweden but changed his last name...still unknown about his real surname and family tree..My father Ray Augustus Brown was the youngest of many children...he passed away in 1992...I have called a few people you may know of...Chucke Browne of Duluth,,,Donald Brown Berwyn,Ill...Albert,Carl,Ralph and Frances Eisenach...Carl and Ralph live in Duluth...Albert lives in Menasha WI...I would love to hear from you! I live in South Carolina and am my father's only child...I too have one child Adam age 6...My fathers sister Emma Hallam her son LLoyd and I all lived in Miami, Fla...Emma raised my father from about the age of 10, as Herman and Bertha Brown were 68 and 48 years old when my father was born and both died by about 1920 or earlier..my phone # is [864] 962-9159...Your listings of Berthas brothers were exact of what mine were so I'm sure of our heritage, but those i contacted last year were all elderly and seemed to be not so talkative about our family...God Bless, Sue...Stephen R.
My "new" Eisenach family

Dear all, Sue Anderson has mentioned of interest in our Eisenach heritage...I have many documents and pictures from the 1840's to the present. My fathers mother was Bertha Eisenach, the only daughter amongst 9 children. My father Ray Augustus Brown 2/18/09-11/9/92, was very secretive about his family. I was his only child and have one boy of my own Adam Ray Brown dob 3/6/94. My aunt Dora Eisenach Gideon went to Germany in 1950 and spent her life savings of $25,000 tracing the Eisenach family back to the years of approx. 1000! She lived to be well over 100 years of age and spent much of her life and passed away in Lakeland Fla. in the 1970's...She was a leader in the Theosophical society which believed in re-incarnation directly related to the Holy Bible. The only other relatives of my father's side of the family I was close too, were his sister Emma Hallam and her son Lloyd who helped raise my father as both of his parents Bertha E. Brown and Herman Brown died while my father was a child approx. 1920, Berthas approx death date...Herman died earlier they lived in Duluth MN, and owned many bowling alleys and pool halls but apparently lost all due to Berthas inability to run the families busnisses. I would love to hear from any of the Eisenach family as I have felt alienated since my fathers passing in 1992 and I have much info on all the family including thousands of pictures , letters etc. dating back to about 1840! God Bless all My e mail is PtlSteve314@cs.com...Stephen R. Brown...630 Fairview Rd. Apt. 154...Simpsonville, SC 29680...my dob is 3/14/51...Born in Miami, Fla. where I resided until 1972...I am a Preacher and singer/guitarist...Phone #...[864]962-9159...I would love to hear from all!...Praise the Lord...your not so distant "cousin", Steve

My dearest Aunt Dora went to Germany aroung 1945-50 and researched the complete Eisenach family tree, spending about one year and $25,000 of her own money. My copy which she gave me around 1963 has been lost. Anyone who has a copy which goes back passed the years of Martin Luther and mentions also King Charlemagne...please contact me! I will gladly pay for copies, postage and your time involved. God Bless All!...Stephen R. Brown, 630 Fairview Rd. My father was Ray Augustus Brown...2/18/09-11/09/92...son of Herman Brown and Bertha Eisenach Brown and if anyone has information esp. regarding Herman Browns real surname which he changed to Brown upon arriving from Sweden I would greatly appreciate any help...Part of the Brown family added an "E" [Browne]my fathers brother Earls family probably...Chuck Browne of Duluth [218] 729-9616..winter home Texas...[956] 581-4648...Donald H. Brown of Berwyn, Illinois...[708] 795-7741..Also in the last few years I have contacted Albert Eisenach of Menasha,WI and Carl and Ralph Eisenach both of Duluth,MN...for some reason [a family secret I believe]the Browns are not talking to each other...My fathers sister Emma Brown Hallam and her son Lloyd, were neighbors of mine in Miami, Fla....Emma died of natural causes at the age of 89, in the 70's...Lloyd comitted suicide after losing his wife Florence, in the 1980's...I have many identified and unidentified photo's of the Eisenachs dating back to the 1860's on up...Lloyd Hallam opened the first Photography store in Miami along with my father Ray in the 1930's approx....It has only been a few days since I accidently came upon Sue Andersons , Eisenach Family Tree, through Ancestry.com and I will gladly communicate with everyone who wishes to welcome a long lost cousin! God Bless all with best regards, Steve

I have her ancestry back to her second great grandfather. If you think there might be a connection, contact me.

Gary
2 Dec 2000
Baltimore

Anna Catherine Blumenauer formerly Eisenach

My 2ggm Anna Catherine Blumenauer formerly Eisenach left Rollshausen, Germany in 1856. She signed her passport A.C. Eisenach. My ggm Martha Elizabeth was 3 at the time and her brother Conrad was 9 mo. old. He died at sea. I'm trying to find the father of Martha Elizabeth but don't know if her last name was Eisenach or Blumenauer. They arrived in Baltimore, MD and lived in Hanover, PA. Anna later married Henry Riebeling to whom she had 10 children. I believe her father was Johann Heinrigh Blumenauer and her mother Martha Elizabeth Brede also of Rollshausen, Hesse, Germany. Anyone with connections to the Eisenach's in Germany, please write me. Thank you. (I do not know German)

Do any of your resources turn up the names Charles & Alice Lucas Eisenach? They were my great gradparents who also lived in Wheeling (and maybe OH since my grandmother Edith Marie Bayha delivered my dad in Youngstown though their place of residence was Wheeling).
