Mabel Josephine Schill Eisenman Finkenstein Mabel Josephine Schill, age 95, a former resident of New Castle, died at Saint Mary’s at Asbury Ridge, Erie, Pa. on Saturday, March 15, 2008. She was born on May 18th, 1912 in Millerstown, Pennsylvania. She was one of ten children born of the parents of the late Frederick W. and Wilhelmenia “Minnie” Loll Schill. As a young child, Mabel attended a one-room school. In her teenage years, she moved to Oil City, Pennsylvania where she met and married Andrew A. Eisenman on May 9th, 1932. They resided in Oil City until his untimely death on December 25th, 1958. She was an accomplished seamstress, and made dresses, suits and other clothing for family and customers. She also worked as a seamstress for several department stores. Mabel was a life member and past officer of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court of Saint Rita and a member and past officer of St. Joseph Church Rosary Society. On December 26, 1960, Mabel married Albert Finkenstein and moved to New Castle, Pennsylvania. While living in New Castle, she became extensively involved in the Saint Francis Hospital Auxiliary, serving as its president and chairwoman of several events. She was a member of St. Camillus Roman Catholic Church, belonged to its Ladies Guild and was also active in various activities and committees. In recognition for her dedication and service to the Church, she received the Manifesting the Kingdom award from Bishop Donald Wuerl on behalf of the Diocese of Pittsburgh in 2001. Her second husband, Albert J. Finkenstein, died on July 19, 1966. She found great joy in and making many of her own clothes as well as clothes for others. Over the years, she also developed a love for quilting and became well known for her baby quilts. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling and doing crafts. Surviving are two sons, Andrew F. Eisenman and his wife, Barbara of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio;
Thomas A. Eisenman and his wife, Karin of Port St. Lucie, Florida;
and her daughter, Kathryn A. Eisert and her husband, Martin of Erie, Pennsylvania;
seven grandchildren
and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents
and husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Schill,
Ralph Schill,
and Raymond Schill,
and five sisters, Marie O’Connor,
Leona Ditz,
Ida Sawatski,
Anne Crawford Mackey,
and Dorothy Schill.
Friends may call at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home &Crematory at 111 West Falls Street, New Castle, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, March 18th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Wednesday, March 19th at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Camillus Church. Rev. Philip Farrell will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery in Oil City, Pennsylvania. I have no connection to the Eisenman surname other than for the fact I am compiling a booklet, for my own interest, about former early and rural school teachers once of Elk and nearby counties. Anna Eisenman's name was lists of teachers for the Ridgway Boro school ( 1906) and the Lake City, Spring Creek Twp. school (1901). I would like to learn more about Anna's teaching career. Possibly Anna married but if she did I have not been able to find out that name. I would appreciate any information about Anna's teaching career. I found in a book at a local library in section noted as, "representative citizens" the following information about the Eisenman surname: Samuel Eisenman..... a pioneer merchant of the east side of Dubois....has had a business there since 1885...... was born in Clarion county April 2, 1849,......son of Joseph H. and Catherine (Hooper) Eisenman...... His father, Joseph died , age 57 years old on February 8, 1877 in Clarion county...eight children were born to Joseph and Catherine (nee Hooper) Eisenman: John; Hiram (father of Ann Eisenman), Mary Ann (widow of Benjamin Hurley); Samuel A., Ambrose; Amos, Joseph and James.

Florence Eisenman, Spring Creek Twp., Elk County and Lawrence county

I am not related to the Eisenmans but I am putting together a booklet, for my own personal interest, about former rural and early school teachers once of Elk and nearby counties.
Florence Eisenman was born in Hallton, Spring Creek Twp. in 1893. Her parents were Hiram and Mary Elizabeth (nee Daugherty) Eisenman. Florence attended rural schools and eventually began her teaching career in rural school systems. I don't know if she graduated from the Normal School system or if her first teaching position even required such a degree.
Florence taught in the Johnsonburg, Pa school but later moved to Lawrence county, Pa where she accepted a teaching positon. Apparently Florence continued her teaching career until retirement from the Lawrence county school system. Apparently she never married. She passed in the year 1975 and burial was in the Morningside Cemetery, DuBois, Pa in the same cemetery as her Eisenman cousins. Unfortuantely, I do not know the name of the school in Lawrence county where she taught making it more difficult to research her teaching career. I have information about her large family, parents, cousins, etc which I am willing to share to whomever is interested. My hope is to find additional information about Florence's teaching career in Lawrence county and I am also hopeful a picture of her might be located. Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.

We are looking for info on Monroe Weikel and Emma Brosius Eisenman Weikel of Luzerne County, Black Creek Twp, PA.

Emma is my great great grandmother. I found her, Monroe, their daughter Rita and Emma Sr's children from her first marriage, Cyrus (my great grandfather), Herbert, Norman and Emma in the 1920 PA census, but have no info on any named person prior to that.

My grandfather Albert Anthony Eisenman was born in Meadville PA in 1873. His father was Frank Eisenman, and his mother, Catherine Shadley.

Albert married Gertrude Ledden of Titusville, and they raised their family in Bradford PA. They operated a meat market there for many years.

Any info about Frank Eisenman and Catherine Shadley would be appreciated.

My Eisenmans are from Luzerne County PA and I would appreciate info on them from anyone who has any!

John Henry Eisenman married Emma ? and had Cyrus Eisenman, Norman, Herbert and Emma Eisenman; Emma Eisenman (the mother) then married a Monroe Weibel and had Rita Weibel. I do not know anything about Emma, Monroe, Rita, Herbert or Norman or Emma Jr.

Cyrus, John's son, married Grace McGlynn and had Floyd, Edgar, William, Dorothy and Dale, and also possibly a Grace and Ruby (Grace and Ruby may have been from a previous marriage) and also possibly a Donald. William is my grandfather and is still living. He married Edith Louisa Brunn of Hazleton, and their daughter Mary Lou is my mother.

At one point, Cyrus Eisenman disappears or he and Grace split up, and Grace later marries or lives with a Henry Vogt; later in life they move in with Dorothy Eisenman, Grace's daughter, and Dorothy's husband, Stanley Roby.

Looking for Joseph OXNER family that migrated to Fryburg. His son Lucas married Theresa EISENMAN, her granfather Jacob settled the town of FRYBURG. Also, a Jacob OXNER who may have lived in New York or possibly NOva Scotia.

Eisenman Deeds/Titles

I was contacted recently by a Barbara, who bought two deeds on ebay that contain the names Eleanora Krauth and of Anton Eisenman.

She sent me an email with an attachment that shows the deeds, if anyone is interested in seeing them I can put you in touch wiIth her and I can email you the attachment she sent to me.

The Eisenman in the deeds is not "my" Eisenman as far as I know. These Eisenmans are from Ohio, in the Butler County and Hamilton County (near Cincinnati) area, apparently.

My Eisenmans are from Luzerne County Pa, if anyone has info on them that would be much appreciated.

Looking for ancestors of my grandmother, Edith Brunn Eisenman, who died in 1996.

Her father was Luigi Brun, known as Louis Brunn in the US. He may have been from Northern or NW Italy, or may have been born here, his father having come over from Italy prior to his birth.

Her mother was Maria Rosselli (known as Mary Russell here) also Italian. Mary remarried after Louis's death, to a Joe Palma, of Philadelphia.

Looking for info on the Eisenman family in or near Hazleton, PA. John Cyrus Eisenman married a McGlinn/McGlynn and had William, Edgar, Dale, Floyd, Dorothy and Marie. William is my grandfather.

Ms McGlinn/McGlynn apparently had other children prior to this marriage with a spouse or partner, named Grace and Ruby, last names unknown.

Ms. McGlinn/McGlynn then divorced Mr. Eisenman and later married a Henry Vogt. I don't beleive they had any children together.

I have obtained a copy of the book "History of the Lewis Eisaman Branch of the Eisaman Family also History of the Reamer Family" this book was put together in 1938 by Lillie Eisaman Black, Minerva Eisaman Bennett, and James Kenneth Eisaman. This book starts with Peter Eisaman Jr. who comes to this country with his father Peter Eisaman Sr. on the Phoenix in 1749 and settle in Lehigh Township Pa. This is an update to my previous message of October 2000. I have changed my e-mail address.
My great-great grandfather was Joseph Eisenmann, son of Jacob Eisenmann. The death record of Joseph listed him as born "on the ocean" in 1820. He died in 1908. It listed his father as Jacob Eisenmann and his mother was Waldburga Eisenmann. Joseph married Theresia Zanger in Pennsylvania and had, I believe, seven children. The first three were born in Pennsylvania. They eventually settled in northern Wisconsin. Eisenmann - Wisconsin or Illinois

Help! I am trying to trace my Eisenmann ancestor's, but I am having no luck.

My grandmother (Ida (Andersen) Eisenmann) once told me a story regarding my g grandfather. According to my grandmother, his name was Charles Eisenmann. He made his living fishing on Lake Michigan and was robbed and murdered one evening upon returning to shore with his catch. He was married to Theresa (I do not know her maiden name, but my grandmother believed she was born in France (?)). Theresa remarried several times after Charles's death - once to a Dr. Shoemaker, a Jones, a Hollinback, and a Lippett (I am not sure if the spellings are correct). Charles and Theresa had a least one child my grandfather, John Godfrey Eisenmann born July 8, 1912 in Beloit, Wisconsin. My grandfather had brothers and sisters but I don't know names or who fathered each of the siblings.

I would really appreciate any info or if anyone is able to confirm or deny the above story.

May have been married to a Maria Schoeni in 1810. He was married to Elizabeth Gruber Seiler his second wife. He has a son, George H. Eisenmann b. 1815 in Germany. I am looking for any info on a Stephen (Stephanus) Eisenmann born 3-1761, died 05-15-1844. He first married Anna Maria Kessler (Casler). 2nd wife was Anna Eva Petrie.

Stephen may have been a son of one of the children of Hans George and Elizabetha Finck. Does any one show anyone going to German flatts, Little falls NY. I also show a Johannes aka (John) Eisenmann born 03-12-1744 and living in the same area of NY.

Looking for anyone with info on or connections to four EISENMAN brothers who emmigrated from Weiler, Bayern, Germany and settled in Clearfield Co., Pa. The first to arrive was John EISENMAN, b. 9/28/1801 Traunstien, Bayern, Germany. He entered the port of Baltimore on 10/15/1827.
John was followed on 9/25/1829 by his three brothers Andrew (b. 8/21/1803, Weiler), Michael (b. 9/29/1809, Weiler) and Jacob (b. 9/27/1812, Weiler). In Jacob's line the spelling of the surname was later changed to EISELMAN. I have more information on this family but haven't confirmed some of it yet. Any help will be appreciated.

Hello, I have wrote here before and have found out alot. I am trying to find any info on George John Eisenmann. He came to America in 1862 with his uncle Christian Green. George was born September 4 1848. I have a picture of his family in Germany 1800's. It includes Mother, Father, Two sisters and on brother. I have heard a mention of maybe Munich. But no one knows. I'm stuck on this one! Charles Eisenman born in Neward, NJ in l848. His marriage record in Providence, RI says that his parents were Fred (Freidrich?), also born in Newark, and
Caroline who was born in Germany. I understand that only part of the 1848 records still exist. Any clues to get me back to their ancestral town in Germany? Thanks!

ISEMAN AND SHAFFERS

I found a very old family notation in a bible and am looking for any of the ISEMAN cousins who have SHAFFER marriages in Armstrong or Westmoreland Counties. Specifically, those who could be the ancestors of William C SCHAFFER b 1856 died 21 Feb 1893 at age 37 (no further)

The note further said he was somehow related to Rosa Emma HEILMAN, b 1864 Armstrong Co and her mother, Margaret ISEMAN b 1823, dau of Elizabeth HOLLOBAUGH b 1792 and Michael ISEMAN b 1791 PA, son of John Nicholas EISENMANN & Maria Catherine ALTMAN.

If any of you have anything to help connect the SHAFFER line to the ISEMANS I would appreciate hearing from you.

I have another Eisenman,Sabastian b abt 1790 in Germany, married Mary Mertel. Moved first to Stark Co. Ohio. Family lore has it that the price of land was too hi and he moved in abt 1844 with a son in law, Adam Kern, to Scott Co. Missouri. The children I have are
1. Elizabeth 2, Mary Anne, 3. Gertrude (Catherine) whom I descend from, 4. Ambrose, 5. Mary Magdelene, 6.Johanna, 7. Joseph, 8 John. I do not know if there are any living Eisenmans from the sons.

i found out that father was john Eisenmann of germany. he move to Independence Ohio. he had 5 children. Charles (went by Fredrick)Birth-feb 7 1875. George, Chester(his son dropped the last n in eisenmann), Ivan and Lilly (johnston). Fredrick had a dairy farm in Independence or Akron and sold it to Lily's husband. Sabastian Eisenman-b 1790

Looking for any connections with this Sabastian who was born in Germany in abt 1790. He migrated first to Stark Co Ohio, where his daughter, Gertrude Catherine, married Johannas Adam KERN. they then migrated abt 1844 to Scott Co, New Hamburg, Mo. Sabastian was Catholic and his wife was Mary Ann Mertel. I do not think there are any direct Eisenman descendants as I believe his sons died without issue, but I may be wrong. One of his daughters, Elizabeth, married Leonard Weaver in Ohio and another daughter,Mary Anne, married Andrew Reese, they also stayed in Ohio I believe. Hope to connect to other Eisenmans.

I have info up to a George H. (Isaman) Eisaman but am stopped there. Does anyone have this link to this spelling. George came to Michigan and died soon thereafter. two of his sons came out to help. that would have been my g grandfather but we have little or no other information before that time. we know that there is a link somewhere as there is Isaman in New York.
