Dear Joan thanks for your reply. I understand about privacy. Interesting about the photo with the cadavar. It seems an unusual thing to take a photo of. Do you have other photos? I would love to see them. I do not know anything about the town of Friedland. As far as I know they lived in Minsk and had no connections to the town of Friedland. Will try and ring this evening. All the Best Anna

Poss. in Russia. It is all so interesting.Have you found anything on The Town of Friedland in Germany I believe that would have been Prussia at the time.Where do you live? Good Luck Joan

Dear Joan I was touched to hear news of your Bill. I do not know why the families lost contact. My mother had an address in her 1933 address book for his father Elias Friedland. I think they must have had some money because he came to Europe twice 1927 and then 1928 and he had also sent money for my uncle Fima (Haim) who I think was his nephew, to train as an electrical engineer when our family was living in Berlin. My mother remembers meeting Elias when she was 14 years old, but now my mother is 98 and has dementia so I cannot ask her about the past. She and Bill would have been first cousins. My mother went to the States on a special offer cheap cruise in 1939 with my father but they were really very poor. I am sure she would have seen Elias if she could but maybe he had died by then. He would have been 71 by then. Or maybe she did see him but just never told us about it? My mother's brother was also called Sigmund. He was born in 1905 I think. I would love to see any photos when you might have time to put up on this site. all the best Anna

Dear Joan thank you for your message. It is very interesting to read your email about being married to William Sigmund Friedland. If he is the same person, that I think he was, then his father was one of five children, my grandfather being one, and two other brothers died in the holocaust. However in Israel I have met the grandson of one of these brothers, who is 94 or 95 years old and he has a son and three grandsons, as well as one grat granddaughter. Did your Bill talk of his parents, young life or of any other family? and did he have any children? I would love to know more. How old was he when you met him? Did you have a happy time with Bill? Have you any photos of him? What was the name of his chemical company? The Friedlands of my immediate family fascinate me with their determination and innovation. Interesting that Rose was a Friedlander on her death certificate. Do you know when she died or where? Her maiden name was Friedland and I think her father was called Simon Friedland, but maybe Friedlander

My great-grandfather is Nels W. Ekberg, also known as Johnson. I am looking for any information on him and his family. His wife was Amanda Cristine Peterson and their daughter Evelyn was my grandmother. Also, if anybody is interested, I just posted on a facebook group "Carvel and Evelyn Ferrand Family" 40 unidentified pictures thought to be from her side of the family that had been stored at my grandmothers farm. Feel free to browse through them. If you recognize somebody as a relative, please, please let me know. It is open to everybody.

Selma is my Great Grandmother. I have perused your website for the past several years. Thank you for having such wonderful information! Have you found any more information for Joan Kornfelt, who would have been Selma's father in Law? He was married to Maja-Stina Persdotter (1823-1846). I am stumped at this point on that side of the family. I would like to be able to go further back. It is so wonderful to finally hear from you. I have sent emails to your website to give you more information about the Ekberg side of the family. I hope we can collaborate further on this, as I have been working on my family history for about 7 years now. My father is Kenneth A Ekberg and His parents were Arnold Claus Ekberg and Doris Lorraine Holst-Ekberg. I look forward to hearing from you!

I kids names do not ring a bell, however, Kingston Avenue is really raising a flag for me. The Arthur Ekberg I am related to passed on in 1985. I will continue to research this as I have been very busy on this tree as of late. There has got to be a tie of some kind in there somewhere.
Thanks for the quick response. If you decide sometime to post the picture or maybe you could email it to me I would assure you it would not be used for any other purpose than that of ID'ing indiviuals. I would then delete if if it is not a match.
Thanks again, Kristina Ekberg Cahill

Thank you for answering!

I think this Arthur Ekberg had a son named Burt. If that is so he probably married a Charlotte and had four children by the names of Paul Arthur, Rebecca Ann, Gayle Caroline and Claire Violet. Are these names familiar? I do have a photo but since at least some of the children should be alive I cannot post it. I believe Arthur Ekberg died some time between 1964 and 1970.

Sincerely
Annika

Friedland

I had a family relative called Elias Friedland, who was a dentist, born in Russia in 1868 and came to USA in 1886. He married a lady called Rose, daughter of Simon Friedland. According to the 1930 census their son Sigmund born New York 1905 ish was married to a lady called Elizabeth. Your relative did not have any children. However it is possible that Elias Friedland the dentist might have remarried at some stage and not had any children in the next marriage. The last reference I have to him is his New York adress in my mum' 1933 address book. Do you think this is possibly the same dentist?

I read this old discussion by chance and found it interesting because Bror Hjalmar Ekberg is also a brother of my grandmother, Selma Maria Ekberg. From the Ellis Island site I know that he arrived in the US 1920 and his destination was Bancroft, Nebraska. I would be very glad if someone has information about his life and family in the US. I can provide information about his Swedish relations.
A greeting card surfaced when a relative passed and so I believe I may have American relatives. In 1963 the address on the envelope is: Mr. & Mrs. A.B. Ekberg/Kingston Ave./Chicago, Illinois. I have a photo of a family with four children with their names on the back. I believe the name Arthur is one to look for. I hope this is acceptable under the guidelines because I don't have any other information.

Ausin was one of my best freinds. We kept in touch over the times that I moved to new york. Our parents were also best freinds too. Every weekend we would spend time together with our other friends adam, kelly, kyle, josh. It was great. He was one the best best friends i ever had. The last time i was down in Texas for a visit, i slept at his house while my sister picked me up early. The last words i said to him was see you later. Over time, im gonna have to learn that isnt gonna happen till i die. I miss him dearley and hope we find freindship when I die as well. He was a great kid, and he should of never done motocross. I never even knew him as a motorcrosser. I think this was a very bad idea. I miss you so much buddy u dont even know, i havent seen u for over a year now. Your best bud~ Logan Elliott

Austin was the coolest kid ever.He brought smiles to everyones face...he was a good friend and undertsand how people felt. The day he got into the accident we where talking about are lifes and how it would be weird if one of us died. But in that same day we argued just a little. At the end of the day we where in the same class and the bell ringed Austin ask me to wait up for him but since I was sorta mad at him I didnt and just walk on.If knowing that would be the last time I would see him I would of made a different decission.I felt very sad on the account that he left with us being in a fight. He left behind love ones and his friends. We all miss him...I know I miss him.Austin Jerome Ekberg #129 will always be in are heart and also in are mind..we will never forget him..

My Great Grandfather,George Hans Ekberg was from Ketchum Ok. I'll tell what you can do. My mom has all of the info you are looking for. Her name is Sue Smith and her e-mail is grannysmith10@yahoo.com or her phone # is 208-459-4932.
My cousin also has some info. His name is Cory Gahley and his phone # is 208-454-8670. We live in Caldwell Idaho and I have a lot of memories of going out to Uncle John's house and visiting with Aunt Ellis. Uncle John used to like to chew gum all of the time. We had a lot of dinners at their house. If you need anything more, e-mail me at rnmouse1@yahoo.com.
Thanks, Robin

She was born in Minneapolis and placed in an orphanage and than lived with an Ekberg family in Askov, Minnesota sometime between 1920-1930.
Arthur F. Ekberg

I am new to genealogy and am trying to find information about my father, Arthur Francis Ekberg. He was born in 1916 in Jersey City, New Jersey. A few years later he moved back with his father to Sweden, where his father was born. He lived in Smoland and Stockholm, I believe. In approximately 1923, he moved back to the US on his own. For the rest of his life he lived in New Jersey, New York, California and and Florida, where he died 1n the Tampa area in 1981. He also used the given name, August, which he was probably baptized with in Jersey City. He was an American citizen and a Swedish citzen during his lifetime.

During WW II, he fought in Germany with the US Army, was wounded, and was a POW in Germany. He recieve a Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal.

My father has one sister, who is married and has children in Stockholm, Sweden, I believe.

Although I am American, I now live in Germany and would like to do some research and travel while I am living here. We have a Swedish nanny who an translate for us, if necessary.

Besides some Social Security information, passports, documents from the war, and family photos, I do not have much to work with and I am not in touch with any family members from my father's side of the family, besides my sister.

If you can offer help or information, I would certainly appreciate it.

My grand parente stayed in the New York City area.

The Neil in our family is in FL and, now I can let you know, is kind of flakey. I wanted to be careful because my sister and I want to avoid contact.

My Grandfather was from Sweden. He or his father change the name to Ekberg before coming to the USA. We are told that in Swedish it means "Oak Mountain".

It is always nice to communicate with another Ekberg. I live in central NH. My e-mail is bekberg@fcgnetworks.net If you travel this way some time please let me know.

I move about the country a bit. I enjoy fishing in MT and ID and each year my ship (USS Juneau) has a reunion in a different parrt of the country.

Bill
