Trying to connect to the following:
My GGG Grandfather, Richard ELAM is shown
1850 Census in Butler Co. KY. He was married to Barbara A. ENGLER. His father was John ELAM b. 1793 and m. to Polly TOLBERT.
1850 Census shows:
Richard ELAM, age 31, Farmer, b. KY
Barbara A., age 26, wife, b. KY
Mary, age 9, b. KY
Jane, age 7, b. KY
John, age 5, b. KY
Florence, age 3, b. KY
Alfred, age 1, b. KY
Story is Richard served in Civil War, captured, released, and then signed up for newly formed US Army. Went and fought the Indians out west and never went back home. Wife and kids ended up in Arkansas, then Texas.
