Hi Elsie, I am the volunteer DAR look up person for today. First I will answer what I can from the Patriot Index from the DAR. John L. Elbert was born 4-12-1760 in Maryland, he died 7-10-1835 and married Elizabeth Sudler. He was a Surgeon's mate from Maryland.
From the Patriot Index, this is all the available information I have, I am sorry I can not answer your more detailed questions with what I have available.
I could suggest you contact the county historical society from which the family you decend from or perhaps The Baltimore City Archives, 211 Pleasant Street, Room 201, Baltimore, MD 21202.
Have you been using land records, Wills and census records where available?
There was only one other Elbert listed in the Index and this was for Samuel Elbert who was born in South Carolina, died in GA. and gave public service from GA.
