John Paul “J.P.” Elder

John Paul “J.P.” Elder, 37, Kansas City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at Barnett, Mo., as a result of a lake accident. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, Kan., 913-856-7111. On May 12, 1969, the mold was truly broken when John Paul Elder was brought into the world. The son of Paul Ray Elder and Susie (Rogers) Elder, J.P. grew up in De Soto and graduated from De Soto High School in 1987. He attended Ottawa University. J.P. worked at the Renaissance Festival for many years. He lived in Kansas City, Mo., and St. Charles, Mo.
J.P. never met a stranger, making many life long friends over the years. His charm and wit won over everyone he met. He always put the needs of his family and friends before his own. Whether serving impeccably, bartending or working behind the scenes, J.P. always made sure the job at hand was done to the best of his ability. This expertise led him to manage restaurants all across the country.
J.P. is survived by his life partner, Michael Kipper, Kansas City, Mo.; father, Paul Elder, Ashland, Mo.; mother, Susie Kramer and step father, LeRoy Kramer, De Soto; and sister, Lou Ann elder, Ashland, Mo. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
