Looking for Eldon's. I live in Michigan. My relatives came from Cleator, England. In searching I found that distant relatives lived in Ireland but I don't know the County. I would be interested in hearing from anyone with the Eldon surname.

For whoever is searching for Eldons -- I'm a member of the fourth generation of Eldons living in Michigan. My great-grandfather emigrated from County Armaugh, Northern Ireland either directly preceding or in the first few years of WWI. He traveled through Canada - I'm not sure where - and flew clumsily in the Canadian Air Force during the war. He settled in Detroit. His second son was my grandfather

Ann Gorman Eldon was born in 1834 in Poplar and married Oswald Farmer. I have some information on both families (see www.groserfamilies.com) but would be keen to compare notes.

Have a Frederick John ELDON b. abt 1869 in St Pancras marrying Amelia BICKERTON in 1887 in Clerkenwell, London.

They had Horace James b.bet 1890-93 in London. He married Mary Ellen Alice RICE in 1914 in St Pancras.

Frederick John's dad was George who appears to have born in Ireland in abt 1844. His dad was Charles.

Eldon Family research in Armagh

My ancestor James fox married Rachel Eldon in Tartaraghan, armagh in 1853. the following year they came to South Australia.
Rachel was the daughter of Joseph and Rachel eldon. The family were farmers in Tarthlogue, Tartaraghan, Armagh.

Joseph and Rachel had other children - Samuel, Martha, Mary, Mary, Elizabeth, John and James.

Samuel married mary mcfarland and had at least one child, called rachel.
Martha married james kirtland. elizabeth married edward anderson.
john married elizabeth anderson and they had at least 2 children, rachel sarah and joseph john.

Looking for Eldon info.

I believe our family immigrated from the Shetland Islands to Florida via Nassau,Bahamas.
