Chris, I came upon this site in doing some probing about my great, great, great? Uncle Joseph Elison of Pennsylvania, who was a member of the Lady Franklin Bay (Greeley) Expedition. I sort of know that he came from southwestern Germany (Baden-Wurtemberg) in the mid 1800s with his family. His brother's name was Alois. My grandfather was Augustus Thomas Elison from Pottsville, PA. He met my grandmother in Pensacola, FL who came from an early Florida pioneer family. Can you fill in any blanks? Maybe we're related?

Pamela,
When I read your reply, I was very interested, since the John Kuss in the family I am researching also died quite young. My records, however, show him passing away at age 38. His other info is; b. 19 Jan 1889, d. 11 Feb 1927. His father is John Aloysius Kuss b. Dec 1855, mother Katharine S Hoffman b. Dec 1858 both in Germany. I don't see records of this family anywhere but Schuylkill Co, PA, and Germany.
I will keep your message and send along anything I may find that seems relevant to your search.
Mike

Chris,
I have found a Karl Elison b abt 1845 in Wuerttemberg, father Thomas, mother M. Anna Steurer, and also an Aloysius Elison b abt 1903, but nothing definitive for the line I am looking for. I have had some success tracing his wife Katharine Sippel, but not Charles. If you have links to this family, I would be most interested in sharing what I have with you.
thanks,
Mike Boyer
mboyer@rtelco.net
