Robert b. 1798 - my husbands great grandfather;
Robert ELKIN married:
1, Lovey Robinson,born abt 1804, Omagh in 1824
Children all born Omagh:
Lovey (Olivia) b. 1826 married to Richard Lethbridge in Victoria, Australia in 1858
David b. 1825
2, Elizabeth MCGRAW, b. 1810, father William Mcgraw - farmer, in Omagh 1828.
Children all born Omagh:
Mary Ann b. 1836, married Clarence RENNELL in Victoria, Australia in 1859, moved to New Zealand abt. 1864.
Catherine b. 1831
Alexander b. 1837, died in New Zealand in 1868 during a Maori War skirmish, He received the New Zealand Medal which was the highest order in NZ at that time. He had been gold prospecting.
Robert b. 1834 , went to Victorian gold fields in Australia in 1855. moved with most of the family to NZ abt. 1864 and was a farmer, died a batchelor farmer in 1908, also took part in the Maori Wars.
William b. 1833, farmed with his father, took part in the Maori Wars, also was Commissioner of Roads in the district the family lived in 1872 - 1881, after that no info.
Sarah b. abt. 1850, one of the first female registered schoolteachers in NZ
Margaret Isobel b. 1856 - my husbands grandmother, married farmer William Walker in 1888, died in 1930.
The family seems to have moved to Australia betweem 1855 and 1857. then most of the family moved to New Zealand abt. 1864/66.
Robert senior bought a farm, he died in 1874 and Elizabeth Mcgraw died in 1884.
