I have just read your message about printing a book on the American and English Elledges. My paternal grandmother was an Elledge from the English line - the furthest back I have so far in my tree is John Elledge born abt 1783, who married Catherine Platt at St Michael Bassishaw in London in 1808. Does this from part of your tree? If so I may be interested in obtaining a copy of your book. I would certainly like to hear from you.
Val

I have a picture that I believe contains Rebecca Elledge Hodges and her husband William A. Hodges. William A is seated front row in the wheelchair, Rebecca is to his right. I am certain of the gentlemen at front row right, Thomas J. Hodges, back row left,William B. Hodges, and the two people standing back row right, Julia Hanlin and her brother. I believe the woman back row left to be William B. Hodges' wife, Anna Elsie Nickel Hodges. I believe the picture to have been taken in Pike Co., Illinois near Perry or Griggsville. Can anyone verify the ID for William A. or Rebecca Elledge Hodges?

Elledge, the 18-year-old
youth who was drowned in Belle Isle lake Thursday
night, when a boat in which he and a companion
were riding overturned, will be shipped to the
lad's former home, Beeville, Texas, Saturday
at noon. Prior to that a short funeral service
will be held in the Street & Draper chapel, with
the Rev. Robert E.
William Eledge (1836-1903 TN): Need help with his parents

William Eledge (maybe Elledge at birth) was born in TN, February 1836. The earliest I can trace him is for his Civil War service records (Monroe County). He married Laura Alice Henderson in 1871 (Monroe County), then moved to McMinn County later in the decade. He died there in 1903. I'm thinking his parents died when he was young, because I can't find him (or them) anywhere in the 1850 or 1860 census. Any help would be appreciated.

Andrea,
John Martin Elledge b. 24 Jul 1882 is the son of John Hiram Elledge and Drusilla Stewart. The posting on the web shows 25 Jul for his birthdate, but according to his daughter it was actually 24 Jul. I also found his military registration card that shows it as 24 Jul. What was your husband's grandfather's name? Thanks for the info, I'm just starting on this family line as a favor to Mitzie, John's daughter.
Michelle,
My friend Mitzie is Jane Elizabeth Elledge's sister. Her name is actually Drusilla Georgiana Elledge, but she goes by Mitzie. She is 87 years old and still a ball of fire! I'm just starting to research, so I'm sure you have much more than I do on the Elledge line. I asked Mitzie about the Stewart line, but she said that Drusilla Stewart was adopted and Stewart wasn't the name she was born with. Mitzie was sure excited to hear about a relative wanting to research their family history. You can email me at kvenzor@surewest.net if you would like to contact her. Also, could you steer me in the right direction for the posting on the Elledge line?
Thanks,
Karen
I have done so little research on the Elledges and Stewarts that I am not even certain who you mean by "John Martin". Are you referring to the individual I had listed as Jim Stewart? Or the one I had listed as John Hiram Elledge?

I had listed them because Drucilla Elledge was a wife of my husband's grandfather, but he was not descended from her, but from a later wife.

However, I always welcome more information. I dislike having people "dangling" out on the tree with incomplete information.

Andrea Ramsay

If I have the same Elledge, then he should have a brother by the name of George. I know for certain he had 4 children Bonnie, Daniel, Scott, and Harvey Bruce.
If you have ANY information on this family, I would so appreciative if you could share. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post.
Sincerely
Tabetha Hedrick

These names are familiar, but I'm not certain about them. Did Harvey have a brother named George A.? If so, I might be of the same family.

Hi Karen,

I thought all of John Martin's children were deceased. My daughter's boyfriend is the great-grandson of Jane Elizabeth Elledge White Soderman. Someone had posted the Elledge line back to Francis in England but I haven't had any luck on the Stewart line. Have you?

Hi Andrea,

I was trying to respond to the post from Karen Venzor and probably replied to all by mistake. I'm still not sure how this post reply system works. She was asking if I was still looking for the parents of Drucilla Stewart Elledge. Has anyone found them yet?
