Henry Eller - Ashe Co., NC

Hi list,
I was wondering if anyone could help me out with determining the marriage date for Henry Eller (1788 - 1876), and his wife Elizabeth Johnson/Johnston (1791 - aft.1870). Henry and Elizabeth are buried in a private cemetery owned by Willard McNeil in the Walnut Hill area of Ashe County, NC. I'm guessing that their marriage occurred during the year of 1812.
Henry's parents were Peter Lenn Eller and Elizabeth Dick. Elizabeth's parents were Alexander Johnson and Frances Gambill. Can anyone help me out?? Thanks in advance. Patrick Murphy

(Richard) Ellers and Krauss from Germany

I am trying to backtrack my Eller family line which is supposed to have included some noblemen in the past. I have also heard that the was an Eller castle in Germany.

My father was (Ferdinand Bruno) Richard Eller who was born in München Germany 1910. My grandparents were Heinrich Richard Eller and Katharina Nanny Eller ( Krauss) who lived in Malaga Spain. My grandparents had a vineyard there with a wine called "Eller von Malaga". The family might have been living in Malaga since about perhaps 1850(?). Heinrich Richard Eller was also a freemasoner at Wiesbaden Germany.

My father's mother's sister lived in Haag, Netherlands and Düsseldorf Germany and her surname might have been van Daelen (Kraus).

My father's brother was Frederico (Fritz) Eller who married a doctor from Cologne Germany. The other brother, Richard, was a Mercedes dealer in Malaga. Both brothers studied in Heidelberg university.

My greatgrandfather/Katharina's father Krauss was an art dealer or artist from Düsseldorf Germany. My grandfather had two brothers, the other one was Eduard Eller(Krauss??) who lived in Warsaw or Moscow for some 20 years last century and was possibly related to art somehow. There might have been a jewish connection in the family here.

My father's grandmother (Eller or Krauss?) had a big house in Bonn, Beethovenstrasse 16 and Gardenstrasse. She died in 1918 in Düsseldorf.

If anyone has any info or connections related to any of these persons, I would greatly appreciate any help whatsover.

I cannot find out any info from when he was in Prussia before he came to the states. He was born in 1833 and married Pauline Maleskezski in 1860. From what info I am getting he is tied to the Strohm family tree and a Engle family tree. Looking for info on where he came from, parents names ect. Any info just to get me started would be great.

H.L, Althea and Johnnie Eller

I was curious, I havent seen my grandfather and his siblings names anywhere, except a story on Johnnie and his hand crafted canes. I am fortunate enough to own 2 of his walking canes. All 3 have passed as of jan 2008. My Grandpa who was the eldes lived the longest. He and Johnnie died just at one year apart. They are both burried in Clayton. Thier parents were John Gordon Eller and Lear Addis Eller. Grandma Eller (Lear) lived to be 99. Also, Johnnie received a purple heart while being on a ship in Pearl Harbor.
This is a very interesting but very secluded family. They lived on Persimmon Mountain Clayton, GA. where many are burried. Grandma Eller was a good bit younger than John Gordon and he died in or around the 1930's.
As far as Grandpa says, his father had a heart attack, Johnnie died of the same abd Grandpa of several afflictions due to age. There is a history of heart conditions with in the family.
If ANYONE has info, I would greatly appreciate it.

Capt. Calvin Eller accepts nomination to serve in the House of Commons

[Found on Ancestry.com newspaper search]

From: Weekly Standard, a newspaper in Raleigh, NC

ASHE AND ALLEGHANY. -- CAMP 58TH
Regiment, N. C. Vols., near Marietta, Ga, June 17, 1864.
Fellow Citizens and Soldiers of the Counties of Ashe and
Alleghany: - Having been unanimously nominated as a
candidate, by my company, to represent the people of the
aforesaid Counties in the next Legislature of North
Carolina in the House of Commons, I take this method of
making known to the people the fact that I accept the nomination.
I have also received many letters from my friends in the
various portions of the two Counties, soliciting me to
become a candidate. I would be pleased to attend the
different precincts of the Counties before the election,
but as the enemy are now confronting us in "line of
battle," I fear I shall not be able to meet you. I only
ask you, fellow-citizens, while the candidates at home
are addressing you and soliciting you for your votes, to
remember that I am in the field with your sons and
brothers, defending your homes, your fire-sides, and your
all. And to you, my brother comrades in arms, who have
manifested your confidence so strongly in me, permit me
to return to you my most grateful acknowledgements. If
elected, I shall do everything in my power to bring about
a speedy and honorable peace, and promote the general
interest; if defeated, I shall willingly remain where I
have so long been, in defence [sic] of my country, praying
for the happy day when our independence may be acknowledged,
and all of us may be permitted to return to our homes to
enjoy the reward of our sufferings.
I am, fellow-citizens and brother comrades in arms, your
humble servant,
CALVIN ELLER
Capt.
Mary Lou/Lucretia Eller Wilkes Co., NC

My great grandmother was Mary Lou Eller, b. ca. 1872 in Wilkes Co. She married Richard Pinkney Foster, also of Wilkes Co., ca. 1893. My grandmother, Florence Viola Foster, was born to them in 1895. Mary Lou died when Florence was 6. I'm trying to find the Eller line from which she comes. An 1880 census shows 8 yr.old Mary Lou living with her grandmother, Lucretia Eller. Also in the household are daughter Martha,ca.30, and son Wm., ca.27. Martha's age is consistent with earlier records. Wm's is not. I can find them in earlier census records, but I'm unable to determine who Mary Lou's parents might be.
I'd love to solve the mystery.

I am having trouble finding any infor on my line of the Eller family. The eldest Eller I know of is my great grandfather Josh. He passed in the late 1960's in Twin Falls ID. I believe his wifes name was Nomi but am not positive. He had quite a few children but I only know of Wendell, Russ, and Eldon(my grandfather). If anyone can help me find more ancestors of this line please e-mail me at eller@cableone.net, or you can respond to this thread.
Worth Newman Eller, Bertie Robinson, Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma

I am an Eller looking for information on my ancestors. I know that my grandfather Edward Eugene Eller was born in Texas, his father Worth Newman Eller was born in Arkansas in 1881 and was married to a Bertie Robinson who died in the mid to late 20's and then Worth remaired an Indian woman named Ima??, I believe. I think Worth's father was born in Missouri but I do not know his name or what year he was born. I also know that there is a Kenneth James or Kenneth Russell that has been missing from the family for years and he was born in the early 30's. I am also related to a Joe Eller from Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Does anyone have any other info on this part of the Eller family or the Robinson family??

Does anyone know if the Eller family bible is still around? According to the 1925 book, James Hook and Virginia Eller, the bible that had belonged to John and Susanna Kerns Eller was in the possession of Wade Eller who lived in Roanoke. Are there any relatives of his who might still have this? I'd appreciate, as I'm sure all Ellers would, knowing the status of this bible.
Thanks, Rhonda

The Descendents of Matthes Eller of Germany

Recent discoveries have provided information that the Eller line of most German Eller's goes back the the birth of Matthes Eller in 1538. His grandson, John Adam Valentin Eller had three sons, Paul, Casper and Georg. It is now believed that Casper's sons were Melchoir, Henry, Christian and Jacob. Georg was the father of George Michael. Henry and George Michael at one time owned farms near one another in Western Maryland before most of George Michael's family moved to North Carolina and Henry's to Ohio. So George Michael is a first cousin not brother of the other four.

Ellers of Mountain City

There seems to be two different familys of Ellers (at least) in Mountain City Tennessee. Are they related at all does anyone know? Also I had a friend who knew some Ellers that were of African descent. Does anyone know to find out about these groups of Ellers? I wouldn't imagine any of them were slaves back in the day. That is sometimes how they got their new last names, they would be given (by marriage or some other reason) the name of the slave owner. My Ellers of North Carolina were not the type to have slaves I don't think. We were all pretty much poor farmers I think. Does anyone have any information on any of this? Thanks much.

Recently an A. Eller died in Wangen in Allgäu, Baden Württemberg without any known relatives. She had postcard/ photo albums which have now been given to the city archive. One postcard was from a Matthias Eller and sent from Porkupine Island, Maine (date illegible, but with 2 cent stamp). Just wondering if he or a descendent is out there?

Peter/Fanny Eller, Wilkes Co, NC b. 1805 and 1814

Does anyone know if this "Eller Family Book" contains any information on this family? I wouldn't mind paying for the book if I knew it contained information on this line of Ellers. This couple's children were Martha (1832), Franklin (1835), Cleveland (1838), Henry (1839), Rufus (1843), John (1845), and Peter's mother was apparently Nancy born in 1765. These dates could be off by one year because I went by the ages on the 1850 Wilkes County census. THANKS to anyone who will take the time to help.

Georg Michael Eller-proof for Germany link

Hi, I'm familiar with the Ancestral File info on Georg Michael Eller that traces him back to Kaltenbrunn, Unterfranken, Bavaria, Germany. I'm interested in the documentation of this. Even if an individual by this name is found in a church book in Kaltenbrunn, what is the source for matching the two up? Does anyone have a death record for him? I know he died in Frederick, MD because I have a copy of his will.

Also, assuming this is documented, what documentation is there for his father's birth place of Koenigsberg, East Prussia? Does anyone know what the primary source of this is?

Thanks in advance!

Rose Green

Looking for info on Robert or Nancy Eller born in late 1800's in Ellijay, Georgia

I am searching for information about my Grandparents on my mother's side. Their names were Robert and Nancy (Ward) Eller. My mother's birth certificate indicates they were both from Gilmore County, GA. My Grandfather was a coal miner. I am from Oneida, TN, which is where they were living when my mother Easter Eller (Wright) was born April 17, 1909. My mother's birth certificate does not list her parent's ages or their birthdates, so I assume they wre born in the mid to late 1800's. I am not sure what year my Grandfather Eller died, but it was prior to 1955 which is the year I was born. To my knowledge he was killed by a train. To the best of my recollection, my Grandmother Nancy died in the late 50's. I have only a couple of photos of her and me when I was an infant. They are burried in Oneida, TN. Anyone with information may contact me by email at: llfg247@yahoo.com or by phone at 423-625-1146. Thanks.

I am searching for a Leona Mae Eller who was in DC in 1962. She may have married Vernon Short in 1962. Vitals is telling me that I am not entitled to any of the vital records because I cannot prove that I am a direct relative. Does anyone have access to marriage records/divorce records. The search would be much easier with a Date of Birth. Open for suggestions. thanks. I am also trying to get a copy of a Leona Z. Eller who died in DC in 1993. Cannot find an obit. Could be related.
