While doing obit research in my local paper, I found a breif mention along with a photo, on the front page, about this young girl.
Jan. 29, 1925
At the top of the photo it reads:
Shot Her Mother
Dorothy Ellingson, 16, of San Francisco, who shot and killed her mother in a quarrel because of objections to her night life. Dorothy admits she is a "Jazz Maniac" and shows no remorse at her act. The night she killed her mother she went to a dance. Two days later she was located in a cheap rooming house. Her father and brother advocate hanging her or life imprisonment for her.
I was curious about her and did a bit of research. On the 1920 census her family is living in Alameda, Alameda, California.
Joachini Ellingson, 43, born in Norway
Anna Ellingson, 40, born in Norway
Earl, 18, born in Minn.
Dorothy, 11, born in Minn.
In 1930, she is listed on the census in the San Quentin Prison, Marin county, CA., age 22, born in Minn.
Does any one know what ever happened to this girl?
