Dear Dennis,

There is an ongoing Allison/Ellison Y-chromosome DNA Project that is helping men with those surnames find others with those surnames that they are related to and then they can learn more about their common origins by sharing genealogical research.

You can learn more about the DNA Project at this website:
http://freepages.family.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~allisonelliso...

If you would like more information, please contact me privately at yonan at fgi.net

Best wishes,

Mary Allison Yonan

Helen Irene Lowry Ellison

I am trying to find out what happened to my Dad's sister Helen, born in Couer D'Alene, Idaho 01-26-1918. She married and had a child at 16, the divorced by 1940. The last record I have of her being alive is 1938. My Dad always said he didn't know what happened to her after that. Her ex-husband was Lloyd T. Ellison of Attica Indiana. I have his obituary. They had a child, Caroline, who died in 1957 of heart disease. The family story is that Helen died in Prison, but I have found nothing to confirm that. She grew up in Pierce County, Washington, then moved to San Francisco with her husband. I doubt very much she is still alive, but have not found a death record for her in Oregon, Washington, California, or Indiana. It's very possible she re-married, but I have cross searched records with just her first and/or middle name. Any leads would be most appreciated. I am unable to get her social security application for more information, because we have no proof she is dead.

Thereasa:

Sorry for such a lapse. I didn't know of your email until now. To answer your question, yes, my Uncle James Ellison lived and died in Illnois. His brother Frank lived and died in Hot Springs, Akansas. Hot Springs is where my Mother and her sisters: Anne, Cleo, Theresa, Cecila and Margaret, and Brother Frank and James were born. Do any of these names register with your surname? Perhaps we're related?

Joe

50% off cost of DNA test kit thru June 24, 2009

I have been traveling and am late in posting this news, but I want to inform all Ellison men who are not yet members of the Ellison/Allison DNA Project and have been thinking about ordering a DNA test kit that for a few more days there is an opportunity to order a DNA test kit at a very reduced price. Through this Wednesday, June 24, 2009, the company that is co-ordinating our DNA Project is offering more than a 50% reduction in the price of the combined 37 marker Y-chromosome DNA test and the maternal matrilineal (mtDNA test). The Y-DNA test traces your father's direct paternal line and the mtDNA test traces your mother's direct maternal line.

Any Ellison male who is interested in ordering a DNA test kit can use the link below to submit your name, mailing address, e-mail address, etc. to order a DNA sample kit to be mailed to you and join the Allison/Ellison DNA Project.
http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=H99693

Scroll down to COMBINED - Y-CHROMOSOME AND MTDNA TESTS. Then you'll see
Y-DNA37+mtDNA $119. This is the test you would want to order.

The method of obtaining the DNA cells is simple and painless and doesn't involve any drawing of blood. The type of DNA that is analyzed for genealogical purposes doesn't provide any data about medical conditions. The DNA testing company sends a small tube with Q-tip-like swabs to each participant. All that needs to be done is to swab the inside of the cheek to collect some cells, replace the swabs in the tube and mail it back to the company. In about 8 weeks the company informs the participants about the results and lets them know if their score matches anyone else in the DNA database. If your score is a clsoe match to one or more men with the Allison or Ellison surname, you have found a long-lost cousin.

There are now more than 110 men who are members of the Allison/Ellison DNA Project, so your DNA score may match one or more current members with whom you can share genealogical information and learn more about your early ancestry. The 110+ participants live in England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.

I'll be happy to answer your questions. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Mary Allison Yonan
Co-administrator, Allison/Ellison DNA Project
yonan@fgi.net

Allison/Ellison DNA Project Results Webpage:
http://freepages.family.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~allisonelliso...

Hi all,

Do you know about the ongoing Ellison/Allison DNA Project that is helping men with the Ellison and Allison surnames find their long-lost cousins within their own country and on other continents? The 110+ participants live in England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.

Through this Wednesday, June 24, 2009, the company that is co-ordinating our DNA Project is offering more than a
50 % reduction in the price of the combined 37 marker Y-chromosome DNA test and the maternal matrilineal (mtDNA test).

Then you'll see Y-DNA37+mtDNA $119.

If your score is a close match to one or more men with the Allison or Ellison surnames, you have found a long-lost cousin.

There are now more than 110 men who are members of the Allison/Ellison DNA Project, so your DNA score may match one or more current members with whom you can share genealogical information and learn more about your early ancestry.

I'll be happy to answer your questions. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Mary Allison Yonan
Co-administrator, Allison/Ellison DNA Project
yonan at fgi.net

Allison/Ellison DNA Project Results Webpage:
http://freepages.family.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~allisonelliso...

Sorry about that last post, it's Lane not Johnson

I have just returned from a genealogy trip to Alabama. In Lawrence County I copied a marriage license for Henry Lane and Sarah Ellison. The license date is September 10, 1829. The marriage bond was by Jesse Dukemanes? Does anyone have any idea who they might be?

Hi Steven,

Several years ago, we spoke briefly about the possibility that we are related . Well, I recently turned 46 and was hoping that we can talk or exchange emails again. Over the years I have tried to tell myself that this wasn't important to me, but I guess it is. Hopefully all is well.

My new email address is tawlbrwn@yahoo.com, please send an email to that address if you can :-).

I was so excited when I heard from you the first time. Did you ever talk to your dad?

Best Regards,
Suzette

Does anyone have any information on this Ellison family from Liverpool?

James Ellison married Catherine Carey 28 Dec 1898 in Liverpool. i know that they had at least two children; James (1900, Liverpool) and Elizabeth Genevieve (1902, liverpool)as i have found them on the 1911 census (but not paid to see the full info!!)

I also know that Catherine had two children Francis (1889?, Liverpool) and Joseph (abt 1893, Liverpool)before she married James.

From talking with a lady who remembers the family on another forum i believe there were more children (6 in total??) and that the family had alot of misfortune in the early deaths of the children/ young adults (Jimmy drowned, Mary fell from a window 3 storeys up and a potential story about another boy). In total other names that i have are Mary, Sandra and Eddie (died 1995?) but i'm really not sure if the generations are correct or if Eddie and Sandra are the grandchildren of James and Catherine. i've tried to trace them but no joy so far on BMD

I'm related to Catherine but i'm interested in what happened to the family as at one point they were all very close.
Anything anyone could tell me would be wonderful

Thanks in advance

Help identifying tins! Poss. Ellison, Reed, Finken, Armstrong???

I have a few tins that were left when my grandmother passed. Her name was Vergene Louise Reed Finken (married into Finken) so they may have come from either side. I know they are pretty old being tins (1856-early 1900s) but know no one who can identify them. Any guesses would be helpful.

link to Vergene Louise Reed:
http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?tid=11127568&pi...

ALSO.... The man in the picture alone looks to me a lot like the Matthew Alexander Ellison family but it could be just me. Possibly older, Isaac Ellison??

link to Matthew Alexander Ellison:
http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?tid=11127568&pi...

James Ellison of Anderson Co. SC

I'm looking for a James Ellison who was the father of John William Ellison. John was born 1837 and married Mary Milford in South Carolina. Later moved to Mississippi and then to Arkansas where he died.

I assume the James I am looking for would have been born in the 1810-1820 time frame.

Any help would be appreciated.
