L. Ruth Ellsworth, 71, of Doolittle Road, Wattsburg, Pa., died on Friday, June 6, 2008 at the home of her son and daughter in law on Stateline Road, Clymer, N.Y.
She was born in Corry, Pa. on April 20, 1937 a daughter of the late Vern and Thelma Carlson Lewis.
Mrs. Ellsworth was raised and educated in Elgin, Pa.
and attended Corry High School. Following her marriage her main priority was raising and caring for her family. She later began working for the Lowville Keystone Gas Station & Store where she worked for five years. The store was then sold and renamed Faulkner’s Country Market and Mrs. Ellsworth continued working there for 21 ½ years, retiring in December of 2007.
She enjoyed various crafts including knitting and crocheting and was a well known seamstress in the community. In 2008, she was named woman of the year by the Wattsburg Post Office. Mrs. Ellsworth was a member and past president of Wattsburg Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Priest and Patricia York.
She is survived by her husband, Edward W. Ellsworth of Wattsburg, Pa whom she married on June 23, 1956 in Lowville, Pa.
She is also survived by a daughter, Penny S. Barnes and her husband, Donald, of Clear Lake, Iowa;
by five sons, Edward L. Ellsworth and his wife, Crystal of Clymer, N.Y.,
Timothy A. Ellsworth and his wife, Sara, ,
Terry M. Ellsworth and his wife, Debra,
Jeff O. Ellsworth all of Wattsburg, Pa
and Scott B. Ellsworth of Girard.
Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren,
five step grandchildren,
two great grandchildren,
two step great grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home,
315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a funeral service there on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Aricka Ladebu, pastor of the Family Victory Worship Center in Conneautville, Pa. Burial will be in the Lowville Cemetery in Lowville, Pa. Memorials may be made to the Wattsburg Hose Company, Box 186, Wattsburg, Pa 16442 or to the Hospice of Chautauqua County, 4840 W. Lake Rd., Mayville, NY 14757.
