Oliver Ellsworth and Mary Keith of Bradford Co, PA

Oliver Ellsworth b. 1787 in CT & Mary Keith b. 1783 in CT had the following children: James, Sally, Mary Ellen, Oliver, Charles, Caroline, Austin and Dewith Clinton. They lived in Orwell, Bradford Co., PA. Their daughter, Mary Ellen b. 1815 married Willard Green and moved to Columbia and Luzerne Counties. A Civil War Pension file of Mary Ellen's daughter-in-law claims Mary Ellen was Native American Indian. My guess is it came from Mary Keith. Little is known about her. Would like to contact other family researchers.

Looking for any information regarding Chester Bently Ellsworth. He married Rose Bye, I believe in the Tuscola County area of Michigan around 1900.

Nov 1903 in The Cass City Chronicle there was something printing about a court case about Chester's having gone missing.

In 1910 both Chester and Rose show up in the census as living in Current River or Biggerstown, Randolph Co., Arkansas, they had been married 10 years.

In 1918 according to his WWI draft card, Chester and Rose were living in West Point, Virginia.

After this I don't know what happened to him. Rose eventually moved back to Michigan and remarried in 1935.

I'm guessing Chester died, but I have no proof. But they could have divorced and gone their separate ways.

Does anyone know what happened to him?

Are there any family organizations for descendants of German ELLSWORTH?

My husband is a descendant of German ELLSWORTH and his wife, Experience "Speedy" BROWN. Their son, German ELLSWORTH (b. 1849 in Salt Lake City, Utah; died 1922 in Payson, Utah) had a large family of children -- including Speedy Armina ELLSWORTH, the wife of Delos Franklin TANNER.

Speedy and Delos are Bob's great-grandparents. His mother was Edith Armina Johnson White SCOTT (now deceased).

At the moment, we are looking for some information about the ELLSWORTH ancestors and are trying to make contact with some of the "oldest" relatives.

(1) Does anyone know if there is an official family organization for families who are descendants of German ELLSWORTH?

(2) Is there still a historical society operating in Payson, Utah?

If you are able to assist us, I would be grateful if you could reply to this message or contact us at our listed email address.

Thank you for your help!

Sincerely,

Mary Scott

Rescued Photo, Richard Clark ELLSWORTH

I rescued this photo of a little blond boy, who is identified as Richard Clark ELLSWORTH.

Because I picked it up in Michigan, I assumed that I'd find information linking him to this state.

While there are other Richard ELLSWORTHs in Michigan, none fit like the boy who is in the 1910 Pupukia Village, Hawaii census. The census was taken in April and the boy is listed as 1 year 9 months old. On the photo, he is identified as Richard Clark Ellsworth age 2 yr. 9mo. 26 days. April 29, 1911.(When the photo was taken.) He's shown as Clark R. in the census. Father Earl K. Mother Mary C.

A little more research I found the family in California, Richard C. is how he's listed in the 1920 census and he's 11. Then in the 1930 census, he's 21 and Richard C.

I also found him in the California death index. DOB July 3, 1908 in Hawaii and died Sept. 6, 1974 in Santa Clara, CA.

I'd really like to find family to send this to. I am willing to send an image for anyone wanting to see it-so they could possibly confirm the information that I've found. The fit for the information is really close, if not right on.

Contact me at: digginroots@yahoo.com for details.

Kathy

I'm researching a line of my family that for sure starts with an Elmer Edward Ellsworth who is found in Madison Parish Louisiana during the 1910 and 1920 census and possibly in Caddo Parish in the 1900 census. I keep running into many Ellsworths listed as mulatto (same as Elmer) living in Pointe Coupee Parish and I'm wondering if there is a connection. If anyone is researching the Ellsworths of this county or know of someone who is, please let me know.

Frederick Ellsworth (of Augusta Co, VA?)

Although my Ellsworth line comes from Cumberland, MD, I've believed them to
come from Ohio (based on notations from a census on Benjamin Neal Ellsworth).
Within the last week or so though, I've discovered he was born in Garrard, Kentucky.
From there, I've traced my Great, Great Grandparents, Samuel N. (Neal?) and
Eliza Ann Funk Ellsworth up to Shenandoah Co, VA via a marriage license, which lists
Samuel as being born in Augusta Co, VA in 1833, the son of Frederick and Catherine
Ellsworth. There seems to be no Ellsworths in this local region.
The trail goes dead here. Would anyone have any clue of a Frederick (and Catherine)
Ellsworth born about 1815 or before in this area or elsewhere?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
William and Elfleda Ellsworth in Michigan

I am researching William and Elfleda Ellsworth. I believe this William Ellsworth to be the grandson of the Loyist family of William and Mahetable Ellsworth of New Brunswick, Canada but I am unable to make the connection. In the Midland, Michigan census from 1860 through the 1910 census it is recorded that William and his parents were born in New Brunswick, Canada. Which makes me believe he could be the son or grandson of Benjamin, Harding, John or Hanford Ellsworth.

William was born October 1837 in New Brunswick and his wife Elfleda was born April 1846 in New York.
Elfleda's father was born in New Hampshire and her mother in Vermont. I do not know Elfleda's maiden name. They had the following Children all born in Michigan. William A. Ellsworth born 1866, Alta born 1868, Sarah born 1872, Russell born 1874 (died at 8 mos.) and Pearl born 1878.

Their son married Bertha Wetherell in about 1893 and had three children: William born 1894, Hazel born 1897 and Earl born 1899.

Orsemus Ellsworth died on Sunday morning, Nov 7, the funeral being held at his late residence in Fairfax, where he had been only three weeks. He was born and had always lived in Fletcher; has left a good property. A sister, Mrs. Andrew Walker, is now the only survivor of a family of nine children. He leaves a widow and two daughters, Mrs. Ellinwood, of Fletcher, and Mrs. Beardsley of Fairfax. He was a Democrat and had the fact inscribed on his family monument, which he had erected a short time before his death.

I only have 8 kids listed: Aaron H. Joseph, Maria/Mary, Rensselaer, Sarah, Orsemus, Seymour and Prosper. Does anyone know the name of the 9th sibling? Also the remaining survivor should be Mrs. Amasa Walker not Andrew Walker. Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Josia Ellsworth of Ct. in 1677

The testimony of Thomas Barber was especially compelling and condemning in the trial. Barber had been hired by Sension to work in a Hartford warehouse. While in Hartford the two were given lodgings together and shared a trundle bed. It was Barber’s testimony that “he was unwilling and afraid to lodge with him because of some reports he had heard.” He continued by stating that he decided to share the bed with Sension because two members of the General Court were sharing a bed above them. Barber described the events of that night as follows:
Goodman Sension soon after strove to turn his back parts upwards and attempted with his yard to enter his body which the deponent being awakened and heeling what he was bout was in a great straight fearing to disturb the courtiers in the other bed and more fearing he should be wronged and the deponent further saith that in the same time to hinder Him from prosecution of his devilish design he turned his elbows back to Sension’s belly with several blows which caused him to resist for that time and so the said deponent slept in fear all night and in morning told his master Josia Ellsworth that he would lie no more with Goodman Sension as long as he stayed there nor did not.

I am not related to these people, just passing on this information, which comes from an essay titled "Wickedness Breaks Forth." The link for the site is listed below.
Joyce

http://www.loyno.edu/~history/journal/1999-2000/Chehardy.htm
I am trying to track down SAMUEL ELLSWORTH
(probably born Windsor CT in 1720's) and his wife and their ancestry. ( I am descended from him through his daughter Caroline, who married Caleb Hendee).
I've been reading the message board and notice that most of the queries are for 19th c Ellsworths. If you are searching back further, the family seems to come from the Windsor CT area in 1600's - does anyone have this info to share with us? Thanks - I'll keep watching the Board - Karen

Joe Warren Ellsworth of Huntingburg IN killed in South Pacific

Joe Warren Ellsworth of Huntingburg Indiana was killed October 26, 1945, in the South Pacific during World War II. He is officially listed as missing or buried at sea. His name appears on the “Tablets of the Missing” at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. We are seeking information regarding his military and civilian life.

I am a retired Hoosier from Madison County residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. We are seeking family and military information about servicemen from your county killed in the South Pacific during World War II. There are 17,206 Americans buried here and thousands more that are missing or buried at sea and are honored on the “Tablets of the Missing”. Please visit our website to see the beautiful memorial located in Manila, Philippines.

http://fizkid.tripod.com/

My wife and I visited the cemetery as visitors and left with a mission in our heart. We have been taking photographs of the graves of the Indiana servicemen buried here and have been uniting them (at no charge) with their family members in Indiana and across the United States. To receive the photo of your family member, neighbor or friend all you need is a working email address. We do not send them to regular mailing addresses due to the costs. Please help us find the families of the men that might still be living. Our project is only successful because of teamwork and your contributions are noted on our website. If you wish to help us we will be pleased to add your name to our ACKNOWLEDGMENT page on the website. The obituaries usually did not appear till to three months after the death date.

If you are not a genealogist you can help by just picking up the telephone directory and find someone with the same last name and give them a call. It has worked many times for us.

Zenas5@yahoo.com

Sincerely,

Dave and Apple Dwiggins
San Pablo City, Philippines

I believe this to be my greatgrandfather the son of Norman and Mary Mason per 1870 Middlesex Co, Pine Top census; then listed with mother, Mary, in the 1880 Middlesex Co, Pine Top census with Elizabeth Boss as head, sons Robert and Boland, George W and James Christopher. Anyone here have information on this family? This may be a long stretch but trying to knock down brick walls.

George W. and Jennie E. Oberg Ellsworth

Looking for information on Jennie Elizabeth Oberg (b:1873), my great aunt, and her second husband George W. Ellsworth (b:1862 approx.). She was first married to an Emil Anderson but appears to have been widowed or divorced around 1910. At that time an obituary for my great grandmother noted that she was living in Minneapolis, MN (along with a sister, Mrs. Selma Amalia Oberg Helander).

We are theorizing that Jennie may have met and married George Ellsworth in MN and then moved or retired to Florida. The only clear census record shows both George and Jennie in Lakweworth, FL in 1930.

Any information or leads would be appreciated.

george Ellsworth and Freda Ellswroth

Looking for information on a george Ellsworth born April 6, 1883 probably in minnesota--possibly Cannon Falls. I have census info and trying to connect to see if this George is my ggrandfather. His father possibly is a Spencer Ellsworth. At sometime while living in Minnesota, George met and married Alfreda (freda) Johansson who immigrated from Sweden. They eventually moved to Woonsocket, South Dakota and had five children--Leone Georgia (my grandmother), Floyd, Robert, Margareta Emeretta, and June grace. George died in 1918 supposedlly of the flu epidemic, Freda died two years later of Appendix in a Mitchell South Dakota hospital. The children were all young and I would like to know who raised them. My grandmother, Leone, eventually ended up in Boone, Iowa at a typing school and met my grandfather, Loran Frank Wheeler. They married in Boone and eventually settled in Omaha Nebraska. Leone died young also--early 30's of cancer, my father Loran Stanfield was very young and had no info on her or her family so Any information on any of the above mentioned people wound be greatly appreciated

Born April 6, 1883, probably in Minnesota--possibly in Cannon Falls, MN. Eventually met Alfreda (freda) Johansson who immigrated from Sweden to Minnesota--we think. Not sure where they met--but ended up in Woonsocket, Sanborn county, South Dakota. They had five children. Leone Georgia, Robert, Floyd, Margareta Emeretto, and June Grace. George died in 1918 in the flu epidemic. Freda died in Mitchell South Dakota 2 years later in 1921 of Appendix operation. Leone was oldest at 16. Interested in who then raised the kids. Leone is my grandmother. Eventually she ended up in Boone, Boone County, Iowa at a typing school and met my grandfather Loran Frank Wheeler. They were married there and moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Leone died of cancer in 1940 at the age of 36. Any info on these Ellsworths are appreciated as I havd none!.....Thanks Brooke

I have very little on this couple..Wm was bro of my grgrgrpa..
Robert Burrell. Their father was Alexander from Scotland, who migrated across the US from Genessee co NY into Sandusky Ohio. There were brief stops in MI, IN, and IL before settling in Boone co Iowa. There were ten children in this family. Wm m Mary abt 1857. Some of his siblings were
in the Dakotas, MO,Oklahoma, arkansas, Kansas and eventually into Montana and WA. Most of them stayed in the middle of Iowa.
Wm & Mary had 5 children. The girls had similar names
such as Eldora and Elzina. I hope that this helps the Ellsworth researchers; and hoping that I can learn more about this couple via the Ellsworth name.

Ellsworth, Fowler, Wheeler

Looking for information on an Ellsworh connection to the family of Elisha Read Wheeler of upstate NY and Ontario, Canada. He married Eleanor Fowler of Gananoque, Ontario in 1841and had children named Frederick Ellsworth Wheeler, b.1844, Ogdensburg, NY; Thomas Richard Wheeler, b.1848, Ontario, Canada; Lewis David, Wheeler b. 1852 Ogdensburg; Albert Henry Wheeler, b. 1850 Canada or Ogdensburg. Following the patronymics of naming children, all of the above children could have been named after Ellsworth and Fowler ancestors, particularly Frederick Ellsworth.
Thanks,
Bob Wheeler
