I wish I could say I knew Isy or Sam Elman, but I dont know the names. All I know is that my Grandfather was Philip Elman and he was a violinist and he came from Russia. He was also related to Mischa Elman. He lived in London, England . If you have any more info let me know.

Do you ever get to Miami?Florida. Would love to meet you. It is very exciting. We are going to Italy on the 30th May. It's a shame that we wont be in Paris. I have cousin's who live in England. They are Elmans. Their Father was a famous violinist. Ralph Elman. That was my uncle.

I have been trying to trace my family history back to Misha Elman the famous violinst and Harry Finkelman which was known as Ziggy Elman famous trumpet player in the 1930s. Misha Elman is my Great Uncle. My family traces back on my dad's side Howell Detofsky. Howell Detofsky is Misha Elman's first cousin. His mother my grandmom is Faye Detofsky and was Faye Familant her father's father is Ziggy Elman. On my dad's side his dad madien name was Milton Zevotofsky and changed to Milton Detofsky and his father name was Lou Zevotofsky and his wife was Rosa Zevtofsky and his father changed it to Detofsky.
There were many brothers that came from Russia.
My Dad's family came from Czechoslovakia. From researching. I have found Zivotofsky and Zevotofsky, Zevon famous Warren Zevon are related to us from California. Familant, Elman family were are all related. I just trying to peice it together. My great granfather on my grandmom's side was a banjo player. And I am musician singer/songwritter-guitarist. My name is Miriam Detofsky and I go by Miriam Sky.

Well see what you think of this....I know I am related to Misha Elman and Ziggy Elman we even have pics of Misha Elman when he was a kid and some of his music and Ziggy Elman. I couldn't find any video on Misha Elman but Ziggy Elman found him in many movies four exact and Fabulous Dorseys is one movie also in the Jazz series on PBS saw him playing with Dorsey's band. He also played with Frank Sinatra.

mischa elman from our side was the first cousin of my grand father mosche elman from galatz roumania my grand pa arrived in france in the early 1925's (think so)he was a doctor he has 9 children all my uncles and aunts spread around france.my little cousin emma 10 years old is a very good violon player.
me i'm a cabin crew for air france travel a lot actually long holes flights.once i met ivry gitlis famous violonist on board i spoke with him he knew very well mischa cause he played with him i told him i was part of mischa's elman family he was so happy to meet me.
