Bonjour Sarah -- Mon grand-père était Louis Detofsky (le nom de famille était 'Zevotovsky' à l'Ukraine), qui était cousin germain de Mischa Elman. Supposement, les deux étaient assez proches un à l'autre à l'Ukraine. Malheureusement, Louis Zevotovsky, qui a émigré à NY en 1910, a perdu toute sa famille sous le regime de Stalin, et je n'ai aucune information en ce qui concerne mes arrières-grands-parents (le père et la mère de Louis Zevotovsky). Louis Zevotovsky est mort même avant ma naissance. Moi, je suis né aux Etats-Unis en 1957, et j'habite en ce moment à Philadelphie. J'habitais Paris pendant deux ans (1992 et 1997). I am trying to find out anything about Mischa Elman. My grandfather Richard Thomas Wright a musical critic who lived in London was a friend and great admirer of Mischa and named my father David Elman Macer Wright after him. As my grandfather was a civil servant his musical and literary criticism was done with no financial remuneration as a result of which I'm finding it virtually impossible to find anything about him or his friendships, which included Mischa and Sir Henry irving. Any leads to Mischa in London etc would be great.

My Mother was an Elman. We came from London, England but originaly from Russia.

Did you ever find any more info. on Mischa Elman?
All i know is my Mother and her brothers who were world renowned musicians were Mischa's cousins. Their parents came from Moscow and Kiev.We lived in London, England. Please "e" mail me back. Milstu@aol.com
