NEW WILMINGTON, PA. – Martha Louise Elms Conway of Beechwood Road, died Tuesday morning at 12:48 a.m. at Countryside Convalescent Home of Mercer, Pa.
Martha was born May 24, 1928, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County).
She was the daughter of the late Albert E. and Emily C. Pugh Elms.
She married Robert E. Conway June 26, 1954 and he survives at the residence.
Martha was teacher and reading specialist for Wilmington Area School District, retiring in 1993. She was also a teacher in the Youngstown Public Schools.
She graduated from Youngstown Public Schools and received her BSEd from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in 1950 and her MSEd from Westminster College in 1972.
She was a 50 years member of the OES, Miriam Chapter in Youngstown, she was Mother advisor of Rainbow Girls and was a Girl Scout leader in New Wilmington. While she loved embroidery and traveling, most important to her was her family.
In addition to her husband, Robert, she is survived by a daughter, Diane L. Conway of New Wilmington; three sons, Robert E. Conway of Aurora, Ohio, Albert C. Conway of Ventra, Calif., David E. Conway of New Wilmington and Dr. Peter Barszczoski was considered like a son to her.
She also leaves nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home of New Wilmington.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will follow at Fair Oaks Cemetery in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.
