Mary, I'm a decendent of this Curtis Family, specifically Lorena Curtis who married Dr. John T Namey in Farrell, Pennsylvania. I found this by doing an internet search for "curtis, huntington's disease."

If you are still active on this board, I'd love to have a link to some of your information, if you would not mind sharing. I have checked the box to receive an email alert of any replies.

Thanks!

I don't know if you are at the same e-mail address, but I do have some Elrod information for you. Some is not substantiated, but maybe what I have will help. I have an Elizabeth Melton Elrod, b. 1820 in Indiana, died 1889 in Fannin Co., Tex. That much is unsubstantiated.

She was the dau of Jacob Elrod, b. 31 Dec 1788 in Rowan To., NC. d. 11 Sept 1855 in Orange Co., IN (He is in the line I'm researching.) He was married to Mildred Cooper, b. 8 Apr 1793 in Milledgeville, Baldwin Co., GA. She d. 29 April 1852, Orleans, IN. I have more information about them and about their ancestors in this line.

Whether for sure Elizabeth Melton Elrod was their dau. is anybody's guess. I'll try to help you if I can.

In return, do you know anything about the burial place of Edward Linn Elrod, who d. 1889 in IL? Thanks.

Carol Elrod

John R. Elrod and Crissa Anne "Annie" Womack

This couple married sometime abt 1920, probably in Etowah County, AL. John Elrod is the main one I'm interested in as I think I located him in the 1920 census for Alabama City, Etowah, AL. Head of household was Emma Elrod, 38 and Widowed. John was listed as being 20 and single. A unrelated(?) person living in the household was Harrod Warren, 38. All were born in Alabama. I couldn't find Emma before or after the 1920 census. If anyone has any info on this family, I would appreciate it.

finding info on ppl who are still alive

My DHs mother walked out of his life when he was a very small child. We have very little information on her. She met us about 3 years ago and at that time, I got information about her (birthday, mom and dad's names and dates etc) but I have lost it. My DH has decided that it is not a relationship he wants to continue therefore I cannot call her to find out the information again. I have the month and year of her birthday from Intelius. I know her maiden name (which is why I posted on this board)and her current last name and I know that she was born in Louisiana (it is on his birth certificate). I would like to find out her actual birthday which I think I have narrowed down to 2 different dates. I would like to find out information on her father and his side of the family.

My FIL is no help b/c he was so young when they were divorced that he doesn't remember this information. She has family in my town (she lives in another state) but if I call them they will alert her that I am asking about this information.

My DH says to just write "unknown" on the family tree however, I am hoping to one day have a completed family tree for my son and I would like to include this information.

So, b/c her name is unusual and she is still alive I would like to not list her name here. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can find out this information? message me here or email me at nyreern2be@yahoo.com

Elrod families of Smith Co., TN; Bailey Co., TX; and Bryan Co., OK

I am searching for information on the Elrod families of Smith Co., TN; Bailey Co., TX; and Bryan Co., OK

This is not my line; however, I want to do something for a very kind man, Roy Holland Elrod, who is the widower of a distant cousin. Roy's wife was Malda Scheihagen (Chandler) Elrod.

The thumbnail of his ancestry is that he descends from:
1. Ephriam and Nancy Ann (McDonald) Elrod
2. William E. and Mary Catherine "Kit" (Heard) Elrod
3. William Trousdale and Cordelia (Holland) Elrod
4. Roy Holland and Nina (Wallace) Elrod
5. Roy Jr. m. Malda ... they had no children.

Roy is 89 and would very much like to make contact with some of the descendants of his aunts/uncles, etc.

William Trousdale Elrod's children were:
1. Jesse Lee Elrod b. Bonham, TX d. San Angelo, TX
2. Roy himself b. Muleshoe, Bailey Co., TX
3. Helen Elrod b. OK
4. Carl Curtis Elrod b. OK d. San Angelo, TX
5. Novilla Elrod b. OK
6. Thomas J Elrod b. OK
7. William H Elrod b. OK

William Trousdale Elrod and Cordelia (Holland) Elrod both died in Texas. William Trousdale Elrod was born in Smith Co., TN. He may have married Cordelia in Smith Co., TN?

What I have above is about all I know at present.

If you descend from one of the above people, please contact me at:
mcowan @ erols.com

Many thanks.

Well, I erred. I do not know who is in the photograph. A little research has led me to believe the photographer was J. C. Elrod and the photograph was taken between 1871 and 1881.

I have an old family photo identified as J. C. Elrod. This photo was taken in Louisville, Kentucky probably post civil war. J. C. Elrod is wearing a three piece suit, a stetson type hat, and has a collar draped over him with three stars on each side. He has a gray beard with no moustache. Based on my Elrod family history is suspect he is Jeremiah Elrod or Joseph Elrod, however, without the middle initial I cannot be sure. If you think you know who he is I will email you a copy of the picture.

Thanks, John Gray

I have lots of info, (including a picture)on Ruth M. Crawford that I am willing to share. There were at least two Robert Garfield Elrods in the TN & N. GA areas.
His parents were Patrick Elrod, born about 1865 and died July 14, 1921 in Hall County, Georgia and Martha Ann Martin born about 1868, location not known. I can take this line further back if you wish.
I also have your grandfather, Robert Garfield Elrod, as having died in France instead of the US. This info was given me by someone else. I have not confirmed the location. He died on Oct 14, 1918.
Ruth Magdalena Crawford was born in Fannin County, Georgia. I do not have the date. Hope this helps you.
My maternal grandmother was Leila Elrod born 1879 in Ga, married Nicholas A Carpenter, died 1918 in Elbert Cty Ga. (my mother was only 6 months old at time of Leila's death)
Leila daughter of Andrew N. Elrod and Mary Jane Brock,
Andrew son of Jacob Elias Elrod and Linny Boyd, Jacob son of Isaac Elrod and Elizabeth Stanton.

Do you have any info to confirm or refute this? Since my mother was only 6 months old when her mother (Leila) died and my grandfather (Nicholas A. Carpenter) remarried after her death we never knew anything about this side of family. Would love to find related cousins. Any help or info you have would be greatly appreciated.
