I have been looking for information about an R.C. Elsea from the Kirksville area, too. Mine was married to my ggaunt Allie(Olive Delaine)Potter. She was only about twenty when she died in 1919. Her parents dissaproved of the marriage for reasons unknown to me, and supposedly cut ties with her. I wanted to research her husband in order to find clues as to what the problem was or if the story was even true. I was told he was a soldier. Did your Ruben C. Elsea go by his initials R.C? Hopefully there is a connection. Thanks, Tammy

I have heard vague information that your Thomas and Lewis
might be brothers of John in my line, around that same time.

My John was born about 1752, and his will was probated in
1821. He had eleven children that we know about, Jonathan,
William, Elizabeth, Dorcas, Stephen Alexander, Samuel, John,
Mary, Isaac, Thomas, and Moses, born between 1780 and 1799.
The information about Thomas, Lewis, and John being brothers
came from a post on Genforum. I asked for more details, but
heard nothing back.

Any information on this John Elsea/Ellsea, 1752-1821, would
be much appreciated.

Betty,
I think that your husband is my father's cousin. The cousin that went to Conn. in the 50's was Sib ( Jack) Elses. He was my father's brother. He never returned home, but he had a son, and we have located him. He still lives in Conn. Sib died in 1984. My father Paul ( Watt) died in 1981. He is buried in Blountville Tn where many of the Elsea family are buried. My e-mail is annapalexander@aol.com.

I am looking for info. on Malon S. Elsea (Elsey). b.1836, and lived in Washington Co. TN.. According to Family records, he married Elisabeth Jane Douglas about 1860. He re-married in 1873 to Maggie C. Gibson. In the 1880 Wa. Co. TN. Census, he shows up with only Rufus Elsea, age 16. Would like to find out what happened to Elisabeth, and if Rufus is her son. If so what happened to him too. Elisabeth was my GG/Grandfather's niece.
