Hello,

I cannot give information on Peter Elster other than to tell you that I am Jon Elster, living in Liverpool, England. The majority of my family live and have lived in London for more than a century. As far as I know we are of East European origin and Jewish by religion.

Perhaps we are related.

No specifics but a hint - my g.grandfather was (I think) Elstermann von Elster, which I am told is (von) from. He came from Germany to US, then Canada, I think. His name changed on various documents by him and his family back and forth as follows: Elster (transcribed in some sites as Eister), Elsterman, and von Elster. I'm going to look at all the names.

I have been doing research for years and trying to find information on my Great Grandfather Peter Christian Elster. We have always been told that he came from Copenhagen Denmark but I have been unable to find any thing on him let alone any Elster in Denmark. I recently found when he came to America in 1887 and he listed his place of Orgin ar england but i am still unable to find him. All US census on him list his place of birth as Denmark except the last one in 1920 which list England. Some where down the family line I have his father lister as a Howard and mother as an Elizabeth. I also have a picture of anthe name Otto Elster I do not know the relationship to him. I also found at one time a work permit for him in Denmark but I am unable to find it again. Any suggestions HELP!!!!

Searching for Louis Elster. b. 1866 in Sweden. When did he immigrate to America, when did he marry Minnie, before he immigrated to USA or later on after he arrived?

The US Censi for 1900,1910 and 1920 show the ELSTER family living on a farm in the Jackson Township of Lee County, Near Keokuk, Iowa. On these records, the Head of Household is identified as Louis ELSTER, b. 1866 in Sweden. The wife, Minnie, is born in 1868, in Ohio.
I have not been able to locate any immigration information for Louis Elster. I do not not know where Louis and Minnie were married.

I am descended from Ruth Blomquist, who visited four cousins in the Elster home in the early 1900's. I do not know if the cousins are related to Ruth and Esther by their mother's side, or their father's side. I know that their father, John Blomquist.was born as Johannes Felt, in Jonkoping, Sweden to Gustave and Johanna Felt on 9-15-1859. Johannes was one of 12 children.
Request assistance regarding the identity of Louis Elster. Can you find him in Sweden before he immigrated to USA?

I'm seeking information about his step-daughter Jennie SIPxxx (unclear from census record). He was age 44 in the 1880 census, and his wife Agnes M. was age 24. Jennie married Harry S. Adams. Did they have children?
