Alfred Elvidge, son of Thomas and Mary, married Ann Wardley. One of their children, Kate, was my great grandmother. I have more details if you want them. There is also a website on the Elvidge / Harbon families which has lots of info (it is the right Elvidge family).

My ancestor was Elizabeth Mary Elvidge b.1807,Of Bridlington Yorkshire. She married John Simpson.Her father was William Elvidge. Sisters were Ann and Elenore, who immigrated to Canada with she and her family. Brothers William And George Greenaway Elvidge might have immigrated or might have not. Any info would be appreciated.The Simpsons came from Weaverthorpe Yorkshire which might be a connection,as there are Elvidges there.

I looking for a John Thomas Elvidge, who was married to Emma Jane Smedley. They had a son, John Henry Elvidge. He was born (possibly in Grantham, Lancashire) on 15 Feb 1894.

John Henry Elvidge married Emily Leggett. She was born 12 JUL 1891 in Bradford, North Bierley??, York, England. And died 21 Oct 1973.

Elvidge is my maiden name. I am related to the Elvidges that lived in the city of Nottingham in the early 20thC. The resided as boarders in Pomfret St. in the 1901 Census: Ada (18), Mabel (13), Edward (10) and Bertie (6). There is no record of their parents. Research in the 1891 Census is inconclusive. My grandfather was Bertie (later Albert) Elvidge, my grandmother: Florence May Warner. I have no record of their marriage. Before I apply for birth certificates etc., does anyone know anything of this side of the Elvidge family. We have no documentation surviving in the family.

in 1841 thomas and mary lived at bessacarr lodge and he was a gamekeeper
in 1851 same details
1861 son of thomas (john )born 1824 cantley lived at tophall cantley he was a agricultural labourer
1881 lived at smallbridge cantley and was a general labourer
in 1891 still at smallbridge cantley
in 1901 lived at tollbar cottage on turnpike road and was a roadsweeper .

i have a family of elvidges that lived in toll bar house at parrots corner rossington it is now a pub called hare and tortoise .the men of the family worked for leonard childers of tophall (a manor house) on tophall farm the women of the family were in service at tophall

my great great grandmother was mary elvidge born in cantley doncaster 1861 her father was john elvidge he was an agricultural labourer on tophall farm near parrots corner at rossington the family lived at tollbarr house which is now the hare and tortoise pub at parrots corner i have lots of info and photos to share if you are interested let me know

i found some new information that the house that john elvidge and his family lived in was tollbar house this is now the hare and tortoise pub at parrots corner rossington apparently tophall farm was very near there and john elvidge worked as a agricultural labourer on the farm if this rings any bells with anyone researching the elvidge families from cantley,rossington areas of doncaster please get in touch as i have lots of info and photos to share

hi i have some more info on my mary elvidge born cantley doncaster c1863
i have been told that mary used to talk about an old big house called top house or top hall on bawtry road i have looked on internet and found a scrooby top house on the old bawtry road (great north road) it used to be a coach house and a tollhouse or gatehouse and later became a posthouse and a residential property before being demolished there was also an old gallows nearby which was used to hang the murderer that had killed a mother and child who used to live at the house in mid 1600s the gallows /tree was known as gibbet hill
i hope someone recognises the name and the old house also mary used to be bald and wore an old mopcap and she would always be dressed in black she was married in 1882 doncaster to a frederick wardrobe wood .wardrobe was used as a middle name from his grandmother sarah's maiden name !!!
they would have lived near hyde park doncaster near a cemetery frederick was a joiner .frederick and mary had oscar he moved to sheffield,herbert he married a lily whitehouse and eric who married a mary

married to a frederick wardrobe wood on oct 1st 1882
christ church doncaster yorks i have lots of info on the wood family their children etc do you think there is a match .
she was bald but wore a mop cap
they ended up living at 101 nelson street hyde park doncaster near cemetary where the wood family are buried including her

Elvidge - Lackawanna Co. PA

I am looking for my great-grandmother, Harriett. My father says her maiden name was Elvidge but my grandfather says it was Evans - apparently, there was a second marriage involved but I do not know which is the maiden name.
Harriett was born in 1884 and died in 1948. She is buried in West Branch Cmtry, Delmar, Tioga, PA.
She married Leroy Webb (second marriage?).

I found a Russell and Ruth Elvidge in the 1930 census, Olyphant, Lackawanna, PA, living next door to Harriett and Leroy. I think they are related due to the proximity and that my father's name is also Russell.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My name is Will Bramhill and I am researching my wife, Elizabeth Hudson's, family.

Her great grandfather was Isaac Elvidge, born Frieston, Lincs, in 1883, who married Kate Maud White of Tickhill, born 1895. We haven't yet dug out a marriage date.

We know that Isaac was one of several brothers, including a George, and Liz's mum recalls visits in the 1940s/50s to the Elvidge/White family in Tickhill and Maltby. They may also have had links to Spalding and Chesterfield.

We have located both Isaac and Kate on the 1901 Census.

This included 'Bob' and Eric James in the current living males.
