Preston ELZA, age 75, of Richmond, Indiana passed away at home with his family by his side on April 11, 2007. He was born August 9, 1931 in East Bernstadt, Kentucky to Benjamin and Hope Owens ELZA. He was a decorated Army veteran of the Korean War receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of the DAV and American Legion. He retired as an industrial brake operator and refrigeration technician. Survivors include his wife of 54 years Nora; two sons Anthony Preston and wife Jeanna ELZA of Hagerstown, Indiana and Adam Broderick and wife Jennifer ELZA of Hamilton, Ohio; two daughters Rita and husband Donald Lawrence, and Sheri and husband Michael Brookbank of Richmond. There are eleven surviving grandchildren: Tylor, Megan, Jacob, Abigail, Brianna, Jonathan, Brandon, Kyle, Benjamin, Dylan, and Rebekah; two sisters Edith Miller of Indianapolis and Lula Martinez of Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by one grandson Andrew Elza; his parents; three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday April 15, 2007 at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be at Whitewater Cemetery with rites by the Veterans Council Honor Guard. Friends may call 2-5 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Reid Hospital Foundation for Hospice Care.
