Hi Sarah - I have just been looking for informaton on Mary Jane Cull and was most pleased to find your post. Mary Jane was my great grand aunt and Beatrice Barrett would be my first coursin twice removed. This would make your husband my third cousin. Mary Jane's parents were George Cull and Amelia Reynolds. George came to Caplin Cove, Newfoundland from Minstead, Hampshire, England. Amelia was born in Northern Bay, Conception Bay, Newfoundland and her ancestors originally to Mulley's Cove from Rockbeare, Devon, England.

I would be most pleased to receive informaton on the descendants of Beatrice. In the 1980's I visited with Beatrice's sister, Marion in Andover with my parents. Unfortunately my interest in genealogy was not peaked at that time.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sorry it's taken so long to get this message, it's been a long time since I posted this and had given up on getting any response. That said, I'm so excited to hear from you...I think we may be on to something here. Give me a day or 2 to do some digging, but something about your info just feels right. It seems to fit, with John Emberley dying in 1919 and Nellie re-marrying in 1921. (I've got her name as Nellie Matilda Cook Emberly). She re-married George Jollymore and had more 4 children. I've had trouble with Newfoundland research as they weren't in the early censuses because of being independant for so long, so that may take some digging.

Lost Emberly father

Have run into a brick wall with this family line. Hoping someone can help.

Gr-grandmother was Mabel Gertrude Emberly, married George Murray in Pictou county, Nova Scotia - 1920, daughter of Nellie Matilda Emberly who married George Rivers Jollymore in Pictou, N.S.- 1921.

Have extensive info on the Jollymore line, but George Jollymore was Mabel's stepfather and we know nothing about the Emberlys, who are the blood-line. Nellie was obviously widowed or divorced and we don't have her previous husband's name.

I know that the Emberlys were from Newfoundland originally, and so, I'm assuming, was Nellie, but with no maiden name for her, or first name for the Emberly father I have reached a dead end. If anyone can help, any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Nearly forgot, Nellie may have been a Cook/Cooke???

seems odd but now I am joining the list tracing the Emberly's.. I have a great grandmother who was a
Sarah Ann Emberly. She passed way after marrying
John Yeo. She had three children that I know of' one
thomas, and leo Yeo. Thomas was living last I heard
in Vermont around 1945. Was cripple with artrithis so
bad he was in a wheelchair. Leo left some time in the
30's for calif. Sister was my grandmother Mary, She
was sometimes called Nellie. Story goes her family
went back to Plymouth England around 1830 or so'
now I am tracing roots. as one door closes in my
search another one opens, hopefully if others see
this they might be able to help me and post a msg.

hehehehee for sure someone knows something. I just got a bunch of my grandmother's diaries, from my Aunt, and I just finished reading about a Mae Emberley who died in September 1961. My grandmother received a letter from George Emberley telling her about Mae's death.......My mother says this Mae was a cousin of my grandmother's. My grandmother's mother was Harriet Emberley who married George Doherty. Some one in Newfoundland is going to try and find me their marriage certificate.
So these Emberley's do exist heheheheee.Maybe they disappeared because they were bad........heheheheheee who knows.......??????? always questions eh!!!!
By the way where do you live? I am in Northern Ontario in New Liskeard.
Talk to you later

I don't know anything about the man you are looking for but I am looking for a Louisa Emberly who married a Robert G. Wallbridge on October 27, 1839 in Ontario. Robert was born in 1821 in Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England and so I suppose that his wife would have been born right around about the same time. I don't however, have any other information on Louisa and was wondering if perhaps she was one of your Henry's children as the children you mentioned would have been around the same age?

Thanking you in advance for any assistance you can provide. Sincerely Judi McRae nee Wallbridge

Not sure if this canhelp you, but my family oral history says that our name was changed when my ggfather or his ancestor converted to Catholicism to marry. That could help me if I can find a link to your Burin connection - burin being predominantly Protestant. He was born in March 1851. Eventually, the family ended up in a Catholic community in Plancentia Bay - which is temptingly close to the Burin Peninsula. Do you have any information that might indicate a connection?

Paul
