I show Maj. Henry Wolf or Wolfe's daughter Lilly Leah born 1827 not 1817. This is consistent with her age of 30 as shown in the 1860 census. Leah's mother would have been Anna Mary "Polly" Bohn or Bahn.

I have just returned from a trip to Adams and York Co. Penn to work on family history with my brother Larry K Emlet. We met with Larry D and his cousin, Pat Emlet Moore. We were able to locate the grave of Leah Wolf Emlet in Abbotstown, Penn and have a photo of the grave. We documented Michael's listing as a member of the Continential Line in the Revolutionary War. The family history that suggests Leah's father was in the civil war and that Leah's mother was Polly Boone seems very unlikely. I am on sabbatical leave and putting some time into this right now.

Re: William Henry Emlet

William Henry Emlet was my grandfather's half brother. My Grandfather (David E.) was born of John M. and Leah Beitzel (second wife) in Alinda, PA. William Henry was born of John M. and Mary Ann Baer, in Virginia. William Henry left PA and went to Nebraska where he married Cora Snavely. Later they moved to Muscatine, Iowa where many of their descendants still live. I have the Emlet Family History back to 1732. We are now all over the United States. Emlet is originally a Welsh name, although our ancestors came to Phila. PA from Alsace-Lorraine. All Emlets in the USA have their roots in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Michael Emlet landed in Philadelphia in 1732 and proceded to Hanover where he married and started the family tree.

Just stumbled on your message. You may already know: George William Emlet (your G.G.Grandparent )was born in Abbotstown, PA. His parents were John George and Maria Hinkle (a plaque with their names is in St. Matthews Church in Hanover, PA. Their parents were Micheal Emlet and Catherine Sidle. George had 7 siblings, one of whom was John M. Emlet, my great grandfather. John and George, with wives went to Berkely County, VA (now W. VA.) to farm. John's wife, Mary Ann Baer, dies there after having three children. John and George fled VA to avoid conscription into the Confederate Army. John returned to PA (Perry County) and remarried to Leah Beitzel, producing three more children, one my grandfather, David. George apparently fled to Kansas. I have George's children listed as: Alvina, Alice, Mary, John H., Emma, David, and Ann.

George Emlet & Leah Wolfe

I looking for more information on my Great, Great Grandparents. All the information I have is George Emlet born 5 June 1823 in Virginia and died 21 Jan 1907 in Belle Plaine, Kansas. My Great, Great Grandmother Leah Wolf was born in 1817 in Virginia and died in 1863 and supposedly is burried in Abbotstown, PA . I have a picture of them that my Grandmother gave to me. I also have his father as John Emlet 1784-1846 and he was married to Anna Mary Hinkle 1794-1867. Grandma also gave me a picture of Major Henry Wolfe and Polly Boone Wolfe, which I am assuming to be Leah's parents. Polly Boone Wolfe is said to be a niece of Daniel Boone.

Hi everybody, Nicole I just noticed that I have a family list of John and Anna Mary Emlet with all 9 children listed and who they married. This is signed by C.W. Emlet from Kingsburg, Ca. I "inherited" this from my Mom and he wrote this in 1933. It has all marriages and lots of dates. And June this may help you too. I have some on Geo. and Leahs children and a picture of Geo. grave in Kansas. Let me know. pointstony@msn.com

Hello Liz, I think the laugh is on us! Part of what I have is what you originally sent me. Do you know if June has all that? If not I will send that too. I'm talking about the 27 pages you got from your son and sent on to me. Did you ever get in touch with the lady who had given it all to him? I'm still working on "Scanning 101" so it may take a few days. I only have men to teach me here and we don't seem to speak the same language. But I won't forget.
La Vona
