Hi Pat,

My name is John Emmal. I suppose that I'm related to those you've listed. I'm the son of James Emmal, who was the adopted son of Thomas Emmal.

Tom's parents were William Simpson Emmal and Terry Ella McGrath. Terrence, Sally, Allen, Kate, William Bowen, Frank and Harry were Tom's siblings.
All except my father, were from the Lexington, Frankfort, Louisville areas of Kentucky.

William S and Terry Ella moved to Ensley (Birmingham), AL, in 1902 with their children.
Sallie, Frank, Tom, and my father are burried at Elmwood Cemetery in Brimingham. All the rest are burried at buried Lexington Cemetery., Lexington, Fayette, KY.

I'm certainly willing to share what I know about this family. I have several family artifacts and pictures along with some written and oral family history.

Please feel free to contact me.

John
Hi, I have an uncle who would like to know more about his lineage. He remembers his grandfather's name was Samuel Emel. I notice your board message said that all variations of Emmal, Emel, Imel come from the same place. I have hit a brick wall. Can you shed some light on these Emels? Thank you, Linda

She was 93 years old.
I'm sorry but I wasnt real clear on the last part of your message. I dont have instant messaging if that's what you meant by "IM". What would be the next best way you could share the portion of the Immels book with me?
Do you know any of the answers to the questions I posed in my last message?
Thanks for your reply, Carol.(:

Hello, thank you for responding!(:
I live in Bettendorf, Iowa. Jill is my mother. She is into geneology some and my uncle Jack, having been a History teacher, has done considerable work with the Minehart family tree. I have done some geneology but on my father's side mostly since there arent as many people interested in researching their roots on that side of my family.
I heard about the Imel book (by Velma Byrum Keller) and would like to get a copy but its sounds like this is not an easy task. Have you heard of it?
I would like to know more about Jacob Imel - one of 4 brothers who came over from Hesse, Germany? I've heard he was commissioned in the Hessian ranks but went AWOL not long after arriving here. I'd like to know if this is true.
I would also be interested to know if Jacob was of Jewish descent, do you know this?
These are just some of the questions I have. I dont mean to bombard you and if anyone else is able to validate any of this info (I'd be interested in their sources too) I would very much appreciate it. Thank you and I look forward to hearing about any info you can provide.(:
-Dawn McKinney

I do have some information on the Emals I would be happy to share with you.

Where do you live - and are you related to Jack or Jill? We live in Deep River as you might as guessed.

get back to me when you can

Thanks Carol and Ron Emal
Hi, I am the great granddaughter of Edna Emal (deceased). She had a brother named Clyde and it sounds like your husband is a descendent of Clyde's? I know that my great grandma came from Deep River so I'm assuming we're talking about the same Emals.
I was wondering what info you have to share on the Emal family history? I have visited the Mormon website and others. Any assistance you could provide would be appreciated.(:
-Dawn McKinney
I would say since there are so few Emmal in this area and the
names we have are similar that they are relations because
the Terrance is in the family plot at the Lexington Cemetery
on E Main St and that is where my own brother's name came from as my mother was taken with it on a stone there???I wish the family had been more concerned with keeping their
artifacts and lineages but neither side of my folks kept any
thing and still do not really care one way or another about any of this-I am the odd one---

Thanks for posting about your Emmal connections. I was inquiring because my mother's uncle was an Emmal and we had some Emmal family belongings. I have already placed them with the Kentucky Derby Museum. I do not recognize any of your names being in the family Bible I have, so the connection must be remote.

YES we are associated with them. all the Emal, Emmal, Imel, Emel, and Emil, names come from the same family to start with. Their is a book that the Mormons have that has ALL that information in; we have a small portion of that book and it is really interesting.

We are part of the Jacob line -- let me see; my husband Ron --- son of Clyde --- son of Clayton son of Jacob? I think I would have to get the book out to know for sure on Jacob.

So who are you and how do you fit in the group? let me know soon.
