Re: Anne Catherine Emmerick/h

Hi,

My GGGgrandmother, Anna Gertrude Koehlmann, received a handmade veil from Anne Catherine Emmerich as a wedding present in 1799 (married at Sankt Jakobi Katholisch in Coesfeld).

While I don't have any definitive evidence for you, I do have an item that you may find interesting. It's located at:

http://www.tanbooks.com/doct/anne_catherine.htm

It states:

The baptismal register, St. James, Coesfeld, contains the following record: “On September 8, 1774, was baptized Anne Catherine, daughter of Bernard Emmerich and Anne Hillers his wife. Godparents, Henry Hüning and Anne Catherine Heynick, née Mertins.” The day of little Anne Catherine’s baptism was also that of her birth. She was the fifth of nine children, six sons and three daughters. Gerard, the youngest brother, never married. he was still living in September, 1859, when the author visited the little hamlet of Flamske, near Coesfeld, the birthplace of the subject of this biography....
“I went three leagues from Dülmen to the hamlet of Flamske, to visit Anne Catherine’s early home, then occupied by her eldest brother Bernard and his family. Dülmen belongs to the parish of St. James, Coesfeld, a city about half a league distant. I longed to see the place of her birth, the cradle of her infancy. I found it an old barn, with mud walls and a moss-covered thatched roof. The rickety door stood invitingly open, and I entered to find myself in a cloud of smoke through which I could scarcely distinguish a step ahead. A look of surprise from Bernard Emmerich and his wife greeted my unceremonious entrace. But when I introduced myself as the bearer of messages and compliments from their sister, they received me most cordially, and the little ones, shy at first, came forward on a sign from their father and kissed their tiny hands in welcome.

Linda

I'm looking for genealogy info on Anne Catherine Emmerick/h b. 9/8/1774 d. 2/9/1824 who will likely be made a Saint on Oct. 3, 2004. I know her parents were Bernd (Bernard) Emmerick and Anna Hiller(s).
I have a GGGGrandmother Margaret Elizabeth Emmerich b 9/16/1835 Coesfeld, Westphalen, Germany d.11/4/1914 St. Anthony, Ohio married to my GGGGrandfather Herman J. Muhlenkamp b.1/3/1836 Billerbeck, Westphalen, Germany d.2/13/1917 St. Anthony, Ohio.
I know Margaret's parents were Bernard Emmerich and Anna Leuvick, but have no other info on them. I have not been able to link them to any other Emmerichs, but have been told by many people I am related to this lady who is to become a Saint, and even know of some distant relatives who are traveling to Europe to attend her beatificaton on Oct. 3rd.
Any insight anyone can provide would be appreciated - linking bernard & anna to anne catherine or not!
Thanks!

Hello friends! I am new and just want to kind of introduce myself into the group here. I have compiled a bit of my family tree, which includes this group, of course. I am hoping to connect with people who maybe fit together with me and hopefully we can help one another out!

Also, I have the following other names in what I have collected so far:

Alberts, Boettger, Bohannon, Bray, Bryan*, Buchite, Collins, DePre, DePuy, DeVaux, DeWitt*, Elder, Emerich*, Emerick*, Emmerich*, Frahm, Grahm, Hochalter, Hollingshead*, Jacobs*, Jansen, Johnson, Jones, May, Mitzel*, Raskin, Regan, Sessler, Short, Siler, Stansbury*, Strivers, Thornhill*, Van Steenbergen, Van Tassel, Volckers, Warren*, and Wilson.

The * names are ones that are more prominent. I hope to hear from you!
